Congrats Onesies!

Hey!!  Happy Monday!
Have you joined us for our current Inky Paws Challenge yet?  It's a totally gorgeous color combo and I don't want you to miss out!

I'm here with another inspiration piece for you to help get your creativity flowing.
This card was so much fun to put together!  How can you not love coloring up some absolutely adorable little onesies?  They are just so cute!
Here is the your inspiration image for the current challenge:
Image may contain: text
For my card, I started off my coloring up some super cute onesies from the Loveable Laundry set.  I wanted them to be white onesies so I just used some light greys to add in the shadows.  Then took combos of the inspiraiton colors and filled in the details on each onesie.

I layered all of them onto an oval that I blended some soft clouds onto with some chalk.  To give these cute onesies a little motion, I used the Mama Elephant Celebration Balloons and attached strings to the bottom of each balloon to then attach to the onesies where the little clothes pins are.  I did a little 2 tone shading on the balloons before coating them in shimmer and glossy accents.

All of this is layered onto woodgrain paper and matted with a teal and magenta colored frame.  I scattered a few glitter dots around the card for just a bit more sparkle and shine.

I hope you'll join us for this gorgeous color challenge!
Thanks so much for visiting! <3

Excited for You!

Happy Friday!
How has everyone been?  I hope your week was absolutely spectacular and you are ready for a super fun weekend!

I wanted to stop in quick today and share a little card using an image from the most recent Sami Stamps release.  This image is called Already Loved and is so precious!
I figured since I had done a blue card last week, I'd do a pink card this week.  I started by working on the background.  You know that I love to put together my own background designs.  It gives me a much bigger sense of accomplishment and pride in my card when I know I've put the whole thing together instead of trying to match up patterned paper...not sure why that is...I just love it though :)

So I started by taking a die cut from Simon Says Stamp that I just recently purchased and cutting it out several times.  I wanted one specific piece of it so needed to cut it out about 8 times in order to get enough to fill my background.  The die I used was the Heart of Roses die!  It's such a gorgeous die, but I loved that I could doctor it a bit and get a whole different look!  I cut out 2 roses that were connected and solid along with the 2 leaves connected to them.

To get the placement right, I laid them all out on my card base first, then sketched little lines around each one to know where they would sit.  I decided to color them all in with my chalks.  I was going to try and use distress inks, but I didn't know a good way to get a nice even coating in such small spaces, and the chalk seemed to be the best option.  I did slight shading for each flower and leaf but not a lot since they are small spaces.

Around each flower and leaf I filled in with a little bit of blue.  Once the chalk was all applied, I glued down my roses!  It turned out so perfect and soft!  I love this technique and will need to do it again soon!

I printed off and colored up my image with my Spectrum Noir pencils and then mounted it onto my card with some fun foam behind it for dimension.  Then went around each of the roses with a shimmer pen so there was just a touch of sparkle on the card.

So..Stinkin..Cute!!!  Honestly the picture doesn't do it justice because in person, the card is so precious.  I wish photos could properly portray something...

But, thanks for visiting!  Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps to see this sweet release and then join in our Anything Goes challenge!! <3

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Sweet Baby Bump - New Sami Stamps Release!

Happy Friday!
We have a super sweet new release for you today from Sami Stamps called Beautiful Baby Bump.

For my card, I have used the Baby Bump Dress image.
I kept my card pretty simple, though I don't think it would qualify as a clean and simple card.  I started by picking out some paper from Lawn Fawn to use for the dress.  I don't normally paper piece but there was something about this image that called me to do it.  Then I matched a few inks to the paper and used a couple of tiny stamps to stamp a simple floral background.  You can just barely see it peaking out around the edges.

Using my Silhouette, I cut out a scallop frame and then set to work on my image.  I printed it off twice so that I could also cut out the hair and layer that on top of the dress.  I added a little bit of shading to the plaid paper as well for more depth.

Then using the same ink as I did for the background, did a light blended layer on the background, concentrating a bit more ink around her feet and where the sentiment would be.  I grabbed a shimmer mist and sprayed the whole thing, which gave it a cool textured look.

The sentiment was cut out with my Silhouette as well and then layered over top of the image.  I opted not to add any other embellishments to keep the focus on the super sweet image.  And the background is already super shimmery so I felt it didn't need any more sparkle.

Be sure to stop by Sami Stamps to see the rest of this precious release!

Oh!  And we have a new challenge starting today - Anything Goes!  Nice and easy, just be sure to use a Sami Stamps image!!!

Thanks so much for visiting! <3

Mother's Day Sale at Sami Stamps!

Happy Friday!
I hope everyone has had a fabulous week and is ready for an amazing weekend!

We don't have a new release this week at Sami Stamps, but instead there is a sale on the images the the DT has chosen to use for their projects.  Each image we've used is 50% off!

For my card, I chose to use the Love and Lullabies image.
I wanted this image to be super soft and subtle so I chose to use some watercolor pencils on it.  I didn't focus a whole lot on shading but did try to add a little depth where it was needed.

After the image dried, I mounted it onto some soft grey cardstock.  Everything was going so smooth until I miss aligned my paper and almost sliced through my image!  It was one of those "see it as it's happening" type panics.  Fortunately I reacted enough to pull the blade up just enough so that it just grazed the top of my paper.  But there was still a clear cut line.  So I had to adjust my design a little bit to help cover up that line.  Nothing a couple of simple soft pink stripes of paper couldn't handle :)

To finish it all off, I embossed a simple little heart in liquid platinum and trimmed it out so that the sentiment could tuck behind it in the corner.  I didn't add any other embellishments, which helped keep the card in the soft style I wanted.

Be sure to check out the rest of the DT's creations!  They are gorgeous!  And remember you get 50% off any of the images they used!

Thanks for visiting! <3

My First Greeting Card Line!!!

Hello everyone!!
Today is a huge day for me.  Today I released my very first line of greeting cards!  This may not seem huge to some people, but this is something I have been working on for months.

The purpose of this was I wanted to have a line of cards that would stick around in my shop.  Something that I could replicate relatively easily and always have it available for purchase.  I love doing one of a kind cards, but those aren't always as appealing as a set of cards at a lower cost.

The details of this release (which can be found on Etsy):
~There are 10 new designs!!
~5 of these designs are available as packs of 6
~5 of these designs are special occasion cards available for single card purchase, but can be
          purchased in multiples if desired

~Each design has multiple color options for you to choose from!
~I tried to keep all the colors close to the same from card to card so there wasn't a huge difference
       in each one

~You have 6 basic sentiments to choose from!!!  This is perfect for your grab and go, or need a card
   quick type of situation
     ~Sentiments available:
           ~Congrats!
           ~Get Well
           ~Happy Birthday
           ~Hello!
           ~Thank You
           ~Thinking of You

~All the cards are blank inside unless you want a custom sentiment added.  I do this so that you can write whatever you want without being limited on space

~Envelopes are always included

~The card packs are shipped in clear boxes within the shipping box to ensure they are protected while in transit, and you have something to keep them stored in until use.

This release was really spurred by one huge event for me though....
My application was accepted by Amazon Handmade!!!   I am still working on getting that shop set up, but in the next few days you will be able to purchase everything I just released on Amazon!  How cool is that!?

And because of Amazon, Scrappy Sweet Creations is now an official business!!  I can't believe the huge steps forward this has taken, from just being something to keep me busy to my actual business!  I love my job! :)

This whole process of getting the business running to putting together the card line has been a huge undertaking for me.  It's something I've never really done before and it's been a lot of hard work figuring out the designs I wanted to release, making sure they had some sort of flow to them, and then putting physical products together so I knew what production time would be like and had something to photograph and post....it's been a good 3 months of working on this, but I'm so glad it all came together.

And I'm thankful to you...each and every one of you...for sticking by my side, showing your support and giving me the little boosts I needed to keep pushing forward.  I love you all!!

So, after all that are you ready to see the release??  I'm only going to show you a few cards...you have to go to my Etsy shop (or Amazon when that is set up) to see the full release!
I'm so excited!  And I hope with this greeting card release, you will see something you really want to have.  That's what I'm here for, to provide you with handmade greeting cards that are perfect for every situation.  Everyone loves to receive handmade cards and I hope that you will think of me when you need one :)

Thank you so much!!! <3

On Your Day

Happy Good Friday!!!
I'm here to share a super adorable card using some images from our most recent Sami Stamps release.  While these images were meant for Easter, I thought they looked super cute together for a wedding card.
See!!  Aren't they adorable!?

I've been obsessed with ink blending lately so of course I did that through a stencil for my background.  I used some Worn Lipstick and Hickory Smoke to create a super gorgeous swirl pattern.

Then I arranged my images - Little Miss Fancy Chick and Mr. Gentleman Chick - the way I wanted them (I really wanted them to look like they are holding wings :) ), printed them off and colored them in with my colored pencils.  Of course I had to use the roses from the image I used in last weeks card.  I love Sami's flowers, and these rose vines are no exception!  I trimmed 2 images apart so that they would create an arch above the happy chicks.

The image was framed with a scallop cut piece of vellum and I mounted that over a piece of gorgeous lace.  Then used a few Winnie & Walter stamps from the Big Bold You and Sparkle sets to create my full sentiment.  I scattered a few Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Clear sequins around the card and added little black dots to the centers.

I'd like to enter this card into the following challenges:
    Fab n Funky #297-Flowers
    Inkspirational #104-Pink and Grey
The Challenge #65-Photo Inspiration (I loved the bright pink flowers!)
    Word Art Wednesday #222-Anything Goes

I hope you have a fabulous Easter weekend!  Thanks for visiting! <3

Pastel Congrats!

We're starting a new challenge today over at Tuesday Throwdown!  Oh, and we're having a DT Call!  Don't miss out on that if you want to join a fabulously fun team!

Our challenge is to use pastel colors!   My card is super simple...I was in a bit of a rush to finish it last week because Matthew's mom was coming in for the weekend to visit and I didn't want to have to do any work while she was here.  And I realized that pastel colors aren't very popular in my paper stash...
There She Goes is our sponsor this week, I was so excited when they said yes!!  And they were so generous to provide each of us with a mini stamp set to use on our cards!  I got Larry, stamped him out and colored him in with my pencils.  I tried my best to match him with the background papers.

All of the edges are distressed to add a little bit more detail to this simple card.  I made up a few buttons to match and added those to the corner, and that was it!!  See, simple :)

I hope you will join us!  Pull out those pastels and get to craftin!

Congratulations Card!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas and is having a great start to the new year!!  It has been great to get back to my crafts and my regular routine!  But it was also great to take a break and see family for a week.
The card I made today turned out so cute!!
I love the blue color scheme!  And the little birdie digital stamp is just so cute!  I printed him off twice and colored him in blue with a few green feathers for accent.  I embossed the back border with my Spellbinders Flower Silhouette template and then inked some blue on the details to help them stand out.
I tried something new with the sentiment.  I printed it first and then used my new Cricut Lacy Labels cartridge to cut out the frame.  I was surprised that it worked out on my first attempt!  It's even centered in the frame!! The floral embellishments are also cut from the Lacy Labels cartridge.  I glued some jewels in the center of the flowers and inked some dots around the swirls for accents.
I also decorated the interior.
I just love this card!  It was a great way to get back into my cards!
I'm entering this card in the following challenges:
    Sketches by Carly #47-Sketch
    Through the Craftroom Door #17-Monochromatic
    Critter Sketch Challenge #96-Celebration
    Party Time Tuesdays #49-Something New
