Playing with {Prima} Paper Dolls

Happy Monday!  I had a fun weekend of classes at Donna Downey's studio and I'll share pics from those later this week.  But in the meantime I wanted to share with you some tags that I created for Betty's store using the Prima Doll stamps and Splash of Color mediums.

For the first one I colored her dress in with Silks acrylic glazes from Splash of Color.  My tag was first colored with Silks and then I stenciled more silks through a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop and also stenciled Graphite Ferro through a different TCW stencil.

I added a cutout from one of the new ATC Collage Sheets from Splash of Color.  My flowers are from Petaloo colored with Silks and lace trim is by Prima.

For the second tag I again used Silks for the background and the stenciling.  Her dress was paper-pieced with LYB Poppy.

Her crown and the words came from one of the Collage Sheets from SOC.

And her skin was shaded with Gelatos from Faber Castell.

These little gals are so fun to piece and color! I can't wait to play with more of the new ones :)

Paper Craft Planet Scrappy Sunday Sketch

Its my turn at the Paper Craft Planet Blog today for Scrappy Sunday and I would love for you to please  go join in our challenge HERE!

I have been playing more and more with Project Life, even if I don't do it every week it gets me scrapbooking again!  There are so many options out there now for the divided layouts.  I used to do these all the time (without the pockets) and we called it color blocking.  Its a great way to get lots of photos on a page.

For my page today I used:
Becky Higgins Project Life divided protector
Poppy Favorite Fabric pieces (LYB)
Poppy 6x6 Paper pad (Little Yellow Bicycle)
Poppy Canvas stickers (LYB)
Poppy Chipboard stickers (LYB)
Poppy Vellum Tape (LYB)
Spiced Marmalade, Festive Berries, Peacock Feathers, & Mowed Lawn Distress ink pads (Tim Holtz)

Here's the sketch that I created for you if you would like to play along.  (Tip: If you don't have the divided protectors just make each panel slightly smaller than 4x6 and then mount them all on a plain 12x12 sheet of cardstock!)

Skipping Stones Design Farewell Blog Hop

Well, you've probably heard by now that our beloved  Skipping Stones Design is temporarily closing down so that Heather can pursue grad school and have more mom time.  BUT did you know that sets will still be available in the store while supplies last?

ALSO all of January is still included on the PMS Sale.  See THIS POST for all the details.

So today the DT...current and some of our retired ladies...is having a farewell Blog Hop!  If you hopped here from Amy's blog then you are right on track.  If not start back at the SSD blog to start from the beginning.

For my card today I used one of my favorite ever SSD sets: Birthday Purses.  I colored my purse with my Speccies and then added some fun paper and embellishments from the newest Little Yellow Bicycle line Just Because.

Thats it from me today, nice and short!  I just want to say a huge thank you to Heather for having me on her team for the last year.  You have been incredibly generous with us and I have truly loved working with your images!

OK, so from here hop on over to Tesa's blog!

New Beginnings with New Stencils

Greetings from sunny California!  Lea and I should have arrived in Anaheim last night and this post (along with others this week) is pre-scheduled :)  Its Thursday and time for another round of this month's Dreamweaver Stencils challenge: New Beginnings!

What says new beginnings more than a wedding?  This new Bride Stencil is perfect for Wedding, shower, or thank you cards.   I chose to emboss the stencil with Pearlescent Embossing Paste.  After that was dry I placed the clean stencil back over the image and then added Versamark ink with a large sponge dauber.    I removed the stencil and then rubbed on Metallic FX powders in Moonstone and Pink Poppy.

The card was completed with a new sentiment from Stampendous (available soon) and a ribbon knot through a pin from Webster's pages.  Papers are from Little Yellow Bicycle.

I hope you'll join our challenge this month!  And be sure to visit the team's blogs today for more inspiration!

Stampendous and Core'dinations Blog Hop

Its Blog Hop day for Stampendous and Core'dinations!  If you hopped here from Annette's blog then you are right on track...if not start back at the beginning at the Stampendous blog so you don't miss any of the fun!

I created a layout for you today with some photos my parents just took of my little guy picking out pumpkins last week.  I began with the back side (kraft) of a Tim Holtz Distress collection of Core'dinations for my base and  stamped a few Fall Tendril images on one corner in Walnut Stain distress ink.  My main photo mat is a piece of Red Core'dinations that I simply sanded and then barely inked the edges with the ink.

I added a few strips to the left side of the page:  pieces of Orange and Brown  Kraft Core from the Tim Holtz Distress collecton pack and a strip of leaves Acorn Hollow pp from Little Yellow Bicycle.  The orange I sanded and inked with more Walnut Stain, the Brown I embossed with a leafy branch folder then sanded.

I also cut a couple of circle die cuts and embossed those with a Sizzix embossing folder.  Those were sanded and partially inked.  I then layered some pieces from the Acorn Hollow Paper flowers kit to these.

And lastly in the bottom corner I added a tag....first stamped on Kraft with the Large Tag stamp, then layered onto sanded Red Kraft Core.  I then stamped my Hayride Kiddos stamp on Kraft and colored that with my Spectrum Noir markers.

OK, sorry to be so long winded! Time to move on in the hop:

I'm wobbling...

Good morning! Are you ready to wobble?  All this week you can find posts at the Stampendous and Action Wobbles design teams' blogs as we collaborate with some boingy fun!

My card for today features the new stamp set  Kiddo Snow Globe per request of my friend Betty. I started by stamping the globe in Versamark ink and embossing it with Detail Gold EP.  I added some of the small flakes from the set in a pale agua ink and then added some Crystal Snow glitter with a glue pen.

Then I stamped my cute little kiddo twice and colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers.  I cut out both kiddos and adhered one directly to the snow globe and the other is mounted with my Action Wobble Spring.  Want to find these online? Check out The Scrapbooking Queen!

My card was finished with some Little Yellow Bicycle papers, Core'dinations cardstock, Bo Bunny ribbon, and a gold metallic pen from American Crafts.  (Red background pattern paper was stamped with Snowfall background and embossed in White EP)  Here's a side view of the kiddo wobbling...

Be sure to check in all week at the DT blogs for more fun and don't miss the Blog Hop this Saturday!

Here's who is playing today:

We'll pick one of the bloggers above at random. They'll pick a commenter at random. That means you want to comment on each one so you're entered the maximum number of times. If you wobble with us today, you could win:

Acetate Card Mini Tutorial with Cheers Kaylee

Good Morning all :)  I have a mini-tutorial for you today on making Acetate cards!  I nabbed up some new Some Odd Girl digs last week when they were on sale during the Facebook Fun Day and this little cutie is one I had so much fun with that I had to share the how-to!

When I started coloring Cheers Kaylee to match this uber bright and fun new line from Little Yellow Bicycle Splash Collection I started thinking abut the fun Clear Cuts that went with the paper I had and then my brain went....DUH!  This is screaming acetate card!!

So here is the card shut (I had to hold it shut the the angle's a bit odd on this one) and there's many more photos to follow below :)  (Note my matching Lime Green nails!  Yeah baby)

I started with an 8.5 x 5.5 piece of Thermal Acetate from Stampendous!  Using my Scor-pal I scored it down the middle and folded it in half.  Along the long side of the card I dry embossed some Mini Dots with a Cuttlebug folder.  (Yes this stuff embosses beautifully!  And with the thermal acetate vs a cheaper version you can actually heat emboss on it!)

On the inside of the card is my bottom layer of cardstock/papers.  I based the layout of the card on last weeks The PInk Elephant challenge:

Here's the bottom layer without embellishments or stamping.  I did ink all my edges with Tim Holtz distress inks using a sponge applicator.  (Colors: Faded Jeans, Shabby Shutters, and Spiced Marmalade)

I recreated the same oval shape for the front of the card in a slightly larger size using Oval Nesties so that the inside panel (where my sentiment goes) will be hidden when the card is closed.

I used My Stik adhesive (strong stuff!! from 3L) on the navy panel and adhered that to the INSIDE of the card on the front panel.  Notice you see the adhesive at this point.

I then adhered the green layer on the front OUTSIDE over the navy layer, thus the tape is hidden! The same method is also how I did the inside panel.

Here's a closeup of adorable Kaylee.  She was colored with Spectrum Noir markers.
Oranges: OR3,OR2,OR1,TN2
Navys: TB5,TB5,TB4
Greens: CG4,CG2,DG2
Skin: FS9,FS4,FS2
Hair: EB8,EB5,EB3
highlights:IB1,BG1

And here's the card half closed so you can kinda see how it all works together.

And the card mainly closed.  The fun clear embellishments were added using Fabri-tac glue from Beacon Adhesives.  Its very clear and hides well in small doses PLUS it really holds the acetate pieces on tightly!  I used the Fabri-Tac on the little dowel as well for her flag.

And I couldn't resist adding the Cheers! sentiment to the inside  (from Margarita Birthday by Skipping Stones Design)

OK so hope this helps a bit if you were ever wondering how to glue stuff to a clear surface!

Ritas anyone??

Its time for sketch #134 at Skipping Stones Design and this week we are featuring the set Margarita Birthday!  Here's the sketch if you want to play along with us!

For mine I was in a Patriotic mood so I pulled out some Red white and Blue paper from LYB and took my colors from that.  I colored my Rita to be a Raspberry Rita...my favorite!!

I added some Crystal Multi Mix Glitter to the rim to look like salt (or in my case I like sugar on my rims!)

And here's a pic of this yummy set:

Spectrum Noir Blog Hop!

Welcome to the First Spectrum Noir blog hop – Yellow The Color of Summer!

If you have landed here from Suzanne's Blog then you are hopping in the right direction. If not, you will need to pop over to SpectrumNoir Blog to begin.

I have 2 cards to share with you today because I couldn't decide on just one!  My first up uses Summer Merkid digi stamp by Simply B Stamps.  When I found this lemonade paper from Little Yellow Bicycle in my stash I just knew this would be a perfect yellow card!  I kept my yellows very bright to contrast with the turquoise in the paper by using GB4, CT4, and CT2.  Yellow is never my go to color, but I do love it with another bright color!  And I will say that the SN yellows blend absolutely beautifully!  There are also so many yellow families that the blending options are endless!

I added some Glossy accents to the ice cubes (which were colored with the lightest colors of this family: CT2 and CT1) and her sunglasses.

Here's the colors I used for the image:

I also colored up this adorable little Rhubarb the Honey Bee digi stamp from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps.  I started with my yellows and blacks (I used brown grays) for his Bee costume then instead of making him really brown, I furthered the yellow challenge using Golden Browns for his fur!

Here he is a bit closer.  Look how beautifully those colors blend!  I have been so lucky to have been picked to be on this fabulous team with these talented colorerers! (my new word)

Here's the colors used on Rhubarb:

Dr. Brittany

Sorry I didn't get my preview posted last night.  We had a very unexpected death in the family yesterday.  My Godmother Rubye lost her son to leukemia.  I have been very close to her all my life even though I did not know her son that well.  Please include her and her family in your prayers this week if you would.

So this morning I am sharing with you Dr Brittany!  How adorable is she?  My kids never really doctored their stuffed animals and dolls, but they sure did play with them.  Brittany is another of the 6 new stamps in the Jude and the Rockers Just for Fun Collection being released this Friday from Simply B Stamps.

I wanted some soft colors for her so I chose to use more of the Little Yellow Bicycle line that I used for my last card.  The sentiment is from an old Verve Stamps set.

Once again I used my new Spectrum Noir markers for this image and I am very pleased at how they are working!  I did find that my digi images need to dry before coloring with the speccies longer than with copic markers.  But otherwise they blend beautifully!  Here's the colors that I used:

OK, so hop over to the SImply B Stamps blog to see more inspiration from our DT with this cutie!  And we will have a new image to share with you tonight so be sure to check back!

Challenge List:
Crafty Emma: Button It
Crafty sentiments: for a child
Belli Challenge: children
Lexi Creations: punches or dies
Crafter's Companion: four legged friends
