HAlloween Altered Book

This altered book was one of my favorite projects for Stampendous for July CHA.  It began life as a duplicate hard back book (otherwise I could never bring myself to paint it!)

The cover was painted in Hematite Maya Gold paint and after that dried the fun began!

My focal point is the new Mirror Mirror stamp from Stampendous.  I stamped her in Versamark ink on previously painted paper then embossed her in Aged Black embossing Enamel then set this aside.

On the book itself I added multiple layers of paper (Echo Park), stenciling (Copper Embossing Creme through Ronda Palazzari's Quatrefoil stencil from The Crafter's Workshop), and moe stamping with Haunting Background embossed in Aged Spice.

I added some black Mesh ribbon from May Arts...

And lots of fall flowers from Petaloo...

Overall a very fun cover to alter!  Plus the insides began to take shape but I of course forgot to take picture of the inside before I mailed it off, LOL.

More Stampendous peeks

While I am in Mixed Media mode I thought I would share a small canvas that was in the January 2013 Stampendous catalog.  I had a lot of fun mixing paints and sprays and new Color Mica Fragments for my background!  All of the new Stampendous products should be up at THIS LINK in the next couple of days!  Just ask your LSS if they have them in stock yet!

Here's the process that I used:
1.     Stamp Botanical Blooms onto white printer paper with Archival black ink.  Adhere to canvas using Claudine Helmuth Matte Multi medium.
2.     Spray canvas with Fresh Lime, Lemon Zest and London Blue Dylusions ink sprays.  Heat set.
3.     Add Dab of Yellow CH paint in some areas.  Let dry.  Add another layer of Multi medium.  Stamp more Botanical Blooms In archival black ink onto canvas.
4.     Stamp Color Outside onto scrap white cs.  Spray with London Blue ink.  Distress edges with archival black ink.  Adhere to canvas with Beacon Fast Finish.
5.     Add a mix of Yellow, Blue and Green Mica Fragments to canvas using Multi-medium.  Let Dry.
6.     Stamp Butterfly from  Jumbo Butterfly Trio with archival black ink on white cs.  Spray with Lemon Zest and Fresh Lime ink.  Apply a layer of Fast Finish and let dry.  Curl wing and adhere center of butterfly only to canvas with more Fast finish.  Add yellow and green micro glitters to wings with fast finish.

Dreamweaver Thursday

Have you checked out this months challenge at Dreamweaver Stencils yet?  Our theme this month is "A Fresh Start".  A tree is the perfect example of having a fresh start, every year in fact.  It sheds the old and then brings in the new.

Today I am sharing a canvas I made for the DWS booth at CHA.  This was something a bit different for me but I wanted to try my stainless stencils with mixed media.

I began by spraying my canvas with inks in greens and turquoise and then let that dry.  Then I layered  the Large Flourish stencil in the top corners and sprayed more turquoise ink through.

Next I stamped the Music score background from Stampendous in random spots on the canvas using Archival black ink from Ranger.

I paste embossed the new Leafless Tree Stencil in Glossy White paste in the center of the canvas and let that dry.  I still wanted more depth to my colors so I used the Leaf Green and Turquoise paintstiks and rubbed some color around the edges then blended that in with my finger.

I also went back with a touch of the Glossy White paste and dabbed that around the edges.

Its hard to see from these photos but I think it turned out pretty cool IRL!

I hope you'll join us for this months challenge...you still have 2 more weeks!  Plus be sure to hop over and check out what the rest of the team is up to this week!

Embossing Challenge with Stampendous!

This month is all about embossing at Stampendous!  We want to see all the creative ways that you can use all your embossing powders.

This is a project that I created for Summer CHA using two new stamps and a beloved older one.  I started with a mini canvas and sprayed that with Squeezed Orange and Pure Sunshine Dylusions ink sprays.  I then stamped the gears from Stampendous Gears Kiddo in Versamark ink and embossed that in Aged Wine Embossing Enamel.

I then went back and added Aged Black Embossing Enamel around the edges of the canvas and decoupaged some pieces of Graphic 45 Halloween paper.

I stamped Halloween Magic in Memento ink and colored her with my Spectrum Noir markers then cut her out and added her to the canvas.

For the tag I first sprayed it with Pure Sunshine Dylusions ink then stamped Follow Art and embossed that in more of the Aged Wine enamel.  I also added a Globecraft Memories gear behind the tag embossed in the wine and some May ARts ribbon.

We hope that you'l play along with us this month for a chance to win!  Stampendous will pick 3 winners: one each for some new Essentials powders and glitters:
