My Lil' Lady

LAYERS.

That's one of the criteria for this month's challenge at Scrap-It-Lah. November brings you Debbi Tehrani as the Guest Designer. Visit her blog at Little Scrap Of Magic. Her work is beautiful with lots of details. Debbi has come out with three things that you need to have in your layout. They are:

1. Layers - at least 6
2. Stamping and/or embossing
3. Tags or journaling cards incorporated into your design
(not necessarily used to journal on but can be if you choose)

Please visit SIL blog for further details and for samples from the other DTs.

Here's my take:

Prima flowers, of course. The purple one was originally white which I had sprayed to match colours of the doilies and the little flowers on Nadiah's clothes. I don't know if you can see, but I have 7 layers here with 4 patterned papers, 2 doilies and 1 journaling card.

I stamped the butterflies with three different colours and hand cut them.

I love the rub on quotes framing the photo.

Photo of Nadiah in her traditional baju kurung on Eid day. This year was the first time that she did not mind wearing them. She looked just lovely and all grown up.

So come and join the challenge over at Scrap-It-Lah and you could be the winner of a yummy RAK!! All the best!!

Love Is Many Things

Yes, I know, I know.. I've been MIA for so long. It's been crazy these last few months with beadwork and Ramadhan and Eid, plus I was seriously missing scrapping juice. But today I am back with Scrap-It-Lah's October challenge. This month we have another Guest DT who hails from Sweden and has brought us a very interesting challenge. She is Eila Sandberg and her challenge is:

1. Old book paper, sheet music or something similar
downloaded off the internet & printed out.
2. Fussy-cutting.
3. Hand-stitching using embroidery floss.

Here is my take:

Fussy cutting: banners

Old dictionary paper

Sewing with embroidery floss

That red doily was an awesome find. We were cleaning out mom's old cabinet and I found beautiful red and blue doilies and some old lacey napkins that mom was ready to throw out. I of course came to the rescue and saved everything.. hahaa!!

The dictionary papers were so thin and very delicate. I had to be very very careful in coloring them. I just spritzed them with some Glimmer Mists and carefully dried them up.

So do drop by SIL blog and have a go at the current challenge and don't forget to ohh and ahh all the DT samples. Remember that challenge ends on the 31st October and do link up your layouts using Mr Linky at the bottom of the post over at SIL blog.

Happy creating!!

Love Grows (Scrap-It-Lah)

Happy August, everyone!

First off, I wold like to say Salam Ramadhan to my Muslim friends out there and may you have a blessed one this year.

And now on to the challenge. This month Scrap-It-Lah is excited to bring you Iris Babao Uy as the Guest Designer. She is no stranger to the scrapping world and has been designing for Prima, Webster's Pages and Lily Bee Designs to name a few. The challenge that she has come out with is to have "three things in your layout... stamping, embossing, and misting. Plus there must be at least one raw chipboard to dress up". Oh what fun!! Just my kind of challenge. Please go HERE to see more details on the challenge and check out the Iris' layout and the other DTs' takes on it too.

Here is my take:

Inking, stamping and embossing on the chipboard letters.

Do hop over to SIL and play along with us. Ok, must go. See you again next time. Happy crafting!

Fly Like A Kite (Butterfly Crafts)

Ok, this is wayyyyy overdue. I have been crazy busy with beading that I have no time for anything else whatsoever. But I am taking this few minutes to update on Butterfly Crafts July challenge which went live on the 15th. The challenge is an ad inspiration challenge and here's the ad:

And here is my take:

My point of inspiration from the ad comes from the balloons. I recreated them by using these paper star balloons which I made. Aren't they cute? I used to make them when I was a little girl in school. I used to have jars of colourful stars and they were so cute and pretty.

So do hop over to Butterfly Crafts and join in the challenge. You'll have until mid August to create something and submit yours.

And on that note, I'm going to start on my beading again and I'll see you on the 1st. Buhbye!!

Perth (Scrap-It-Lah)

Recently I went to Perth, Australia for the holidays. I haven't been out of the country in the last 10 years (Singapore doesn't count!) and I was very much looking forward to it. We all had a fantastic time and best of all, I brought back loads of pictures to scrap. Hahaa.. that's what we scrappers always think about, right?

As it is the beginning of July and that means it's a new challenge time over at Scrap-It-Lah. This month we have a Guest Designer coming up with the challenge. She is Issa Virtucio-Lucido. Issa is from the Philippines and a wonderful scrapper. The challenge that she came up with is:

1) at least 5 photos in one layout which means the layout must be multi-pics. There must be 5 visible photos in it
2) Photos must be a mixture of black and white and coloured photos please
3) There should be visible journalling on the layout.

So this is my take:

I decided to use 6 pictures. One for each day that I was there.

The kangaroo is actually a fridge magnet that I bought with the intention of using it in a layout :D.

Some old Making Memories ticket and tags that has been in my keeping for years. How glad am I to destash..

A little stamping to add some 'artistic' look to the layout. And another old Making Memories metal tab.

A mini Australian flag that was attached to Nadiah's little stuffed koala, which she removed because it kept poking her in the face. So I just nabbed it and use it in this layout. Hey... never throw anything, right?

So please hop over to SIL blog to see the details of the challenge and see the wonderful example of the other DTs' work. Come join us in this month's challenge!!

Have a wonderful weekend, everyone!!

It's A Jungle (Butterfly Crafts)

Hello everyone.

I'm back with the reveal of Butterfly Crafts June challenge. It's a little late this month as Karen was having some technical problems with her internet connection. Anyway, the challenge is out and it's a sketchy one. Please go HERE to see the details and ohh and ahh over the other DTs' layouts. Oh and we have a Guest DT this month and it's Mia Castrillo. Check out her BLOG too.

Photos are of Nadiah playing make believe being in a jungle. Snapped the moment with my phone but it turned out quite good. This is one of the reasons why I scrap. It's to capture and document the little things in life.

So do hop over to Butterfly Crafts and join in the challenge. See ya!

I Can't Live Without Your Smile (SIL)

Hello all.

I am back on this lovely day in June to bring you the latest challenge from Scrap-It-Lah. Joining us from June are 5 new DTs from all over the world. I would like to say hello and welcome to

I'm very excited to have you ladies joining us and hope that you'll have a fantastic time in SIL.

I would also like say thank you and goodbye to the DTs who are leaving us and they are Jessy, Wati and Sharm. Michelle has decided to take a break from designing but will still be updating the blog.

So on to the new challenge.... This month we are back with a simple layout challenge. All you have to do is come out with a layout of Thing(s) I Can't Do Without. Please go HERE to see the details and the beautiful samples from the other DTs.

Here's my take:

I mostly used papers and embellishment from Crate Paper's Restoration line. I love how faded and old they look. Goes with that old picture of Nadiah that I used.

So do hop over to SIL and try your hand at this challenge.
In the mean time, have a lovely day, happy scrapping and I'll see you in about two weeks or so. I'm off for a little R&R. Tata!!

Just A Girl (Butterfly Crafts)

Hey everyone.

It's that time of the month again. I mean, it's time for another challenge over at Butterfly Crafts and the challenge is inspired by this Harajuku Doll Fragrance ad. It's funky, it's unique and it's full of fun!!

So this is my take of the ad inspired challenge. I took all that pinkness and ruffles and incorporated them into my layout.

Ruffles that I made using pink organza ribbons. I think it looks much better in real life. My photography needs a lot of practice that's for sure :D.

I love this rub ons by My Mind's Eye. I've had that for a long time, just waiting for the right layout to use it. And it's pink!!

Please check out the details of the challenge at BC BLOG, as well as the fantastic samples from the other DTs. You have until 14th June to create and submit a layout and be in the running of winning a spot for July Guest DT.

Good luck and happy creating!!

Living Everyday

Hi everyone. The new challenge over at Butterfly Crafts is up at the blog. This month at BC, the challenge is all about a spring colour palette. You are to make a layout using these lovely colours:

Please go HERE to see the details and the beautiful samples from the Design Team. This is my take on the challenge:

I loved this challenge. The colours are so pretty and a good combo and I had fun putting this layout together. I misted, inked or coloured some elements like the blue flowers, the circle frame and the pink paper lace to match the colours in the palette. Even the word 'EVERYDAY' in that rub ons quote was coloured in to match the blue from the palette.

So do check out this challenge at Butterfly Crafts blog and submit your take and you could be the Guest DT in June!!!
