081209 - Canvas Swap

Every once in a while, a group of us would get together and decide to do a little swap. In December last year, when we had a class with Aida Haron in KL, we all decided to do a canvas swap. I got to do one for Nadhrah and had passed the canvas through a friend on my recent trip to KL. I hope she would get it soon and will like what I've done for her.

Here's the canvas I made for her:

I used an 8x12 canvas and I think most of us used pictures taken at the class itself. Oh.. in case you're wondering what the title means... it's just the date of the class. I had included cardstock stickers which says 'Love To Scrap' and 'Eat Sleep Scrapbook'... which completely describes all of us.... and you too, I would imagine ;D

Anyway, I hope Nadhrah gets it soon and will love it as much as I loved making it for her!!!

Canvas Texture

Last weekend, I was in KL and joined in a canvas class in Scrappingville. We did a canvas project with lots of texture techniques taught by Sharon. I didn't quite complete the canvas that day and brought it home to give it some finishing touches.

But I have to say that the best part of the class was the company. I love going down to KL and spend some time with creative friends where we just work away exchanging ideas and laughter. Basically having so much fun that 4 hours just flew by just like that.

Me & You Canvas

I finally managed to do the canvas kit by Sharon Karamsingh that I got from the Showcase. Decided not to use the vintage picture that was in the kit but used a photo of me and Nadiah instead.

I LOVE that 7Gypsies flocked paper that was in the kit. Soooo beautiful!!!

I also used Making Memories metal embellishment which was originally teal in colour. Didn't really go with the whole thing so I applied alcohol ink and used a Q-tip dipped in StazOn cleaner solution and rubbed off the ink on the embossed words.

You can see Sharon K's sample here.

Thankful 4 U

About the time when I'm suppose to be working on my beading, that's when my mojo for scrapping keeps coming. Sigh... I seriously cannot spend time scrapping if I don't want customers come running after me. But I just couldn't resist. I just had to come up with something for Mod challenge #4 in SNC. We are to create anything, be it a layout, a mini album or anything with the word THANKFUL in it.

I decided to make a canvas LO albeit a small one (4x4). Here's my take:

Very quick and very simple take. Since I had to go out, I just slap some texture paste on the canvas before I left. By the time I came home, it was dry enough to start painting on it. Texture paste is my favourite thing at the moment although I have not the time to explore more with it.

Once the paint is dried, I just add some rub ons, trims, a photo and a scalloped frame. Then titled it with some Thickers alphas and I'm done. But after a while, I decided to add some crackle medium on some parts. You can see some cracks but not that much. I used Jo Sonja Cracke Medium for that but I think I need Ranger Inkssestial Crackle accent as I've seen that it cracks better and easier to use.

And the shoping list goes on and on and on...... oh dear!

Scrappingchix

Another good friend of mine just launched a scrapbooking online shop. It's called Scrappingchix and was officially launched on the 12th July. You can visit the online shop at www.scrapping-chix.com and read up on what's new on the blog scrappingchix.blogspot.com.

For the opening day, I made a canvas for her. I'm very glad that she loves it because let me tell you.. staping on a canvas is not a fun thing.. hehee. But I managed. I used a lot of paint, embossing and Perfect Pearls. Very happy with the result.

Silvia

Silvia is one of my oldest friends. We've known each other since we were both 12 years old when we both took part in the penpal program and from there had started to write to each other. Although it's been 20 years, Silvia and I have never met. She is in Italy and I am here in Malaysia and never has our path crossed. It came very close when I was studying in England, but somehow rather we never did.

This year, for her birthday, I made a 4x4 canvas for her. I hope she likes it.

Happiness

This my first try at a canvas layout... not counting the 4x4 canvas work I learned at Scrappingville crop party. This canvas is 8x10 inches. It's for a challenge hosted by ChowChow in Scrap-n-Crop Forum. We are to make a layout around the saying
"There is no measure greater than this: the joy that comes from a child's happiness"

The whole quote has to be in the layout. I used those tiny alpha punches and what tedious work that was. (Mich... my thumb is sore and stiff from all the punching... hope you appreciate that :D).
But I love this layout.. not much technique except the painting of the background and I used Tsukineko Brilliance ink to ink the edges and some parts of the canvas to give that shimmery look.

Crop Parties

I've been really bad at updating my blog. The crop parties were a week ago and only now am I updating. The first day was at Scrappingville and the second was at Scrap-n-Crop. I have been building up the excitement for more than a month to attend the cropping. It was my first actual cropping session and the best part is that I get to meet the ladies whom I've only been chatting to through the forum. Liza, Wati, Sal and Deedah came all the way from Singapore. We all just hit it off as if we've known each other for ages. I guess when you've been following a person's scrap work, you tend to know the person even more.
Ladies, it was great meeting up with you all. I hope we can do it again soon!!

Admittedly, I didn't take that much pictures. But you can view some here and here.

We did a lot of projects and one that I'm particularly happy with was the 4x4 canvas work. It was my first try on a canvas and I simply loved it!!!

More of the LOs that I did during the cropping at Scrappingville

At the SnC party, we only made 1 LO although I didn't actually finished it at the crop because I was too busy shopping :D.

All in all, i had a great time at the parties. Though there were some glitches but the company more than made up for it!!
