Dusty Attic - Beach Canvas

Hi Everyone!!

Dropping in today sharing my latest creation created for the gorgeous Dusty Attic January Mood Board Challenge. The challenge gives you the chance to win one of two $50 Dusty Attic Gift Vouchers. To enter you simply need to use the Mood Board for Inspiration, you can interpret it anyway you like. The only requirement is that Dusty Attic chipboard is used in your creation. Once completed simply add your link to the right side bar of the Dusty Attic Blog.

So this is the January Mood Board.

I was inspired by the theme and the colours for my project and decided to create a small beachy themed canvas featuring my kids.

'Paradise Found'

To create the main focal point of my cluster and to frame my photo I used the larger window and shutter from the Window & Shutter 3 set.

The chipboard was given a very heavy wash of white gesso as I wanted it to be as white as possible. In amongst the flowers I have placed a piece of the small sea grass chipboard which was also painted white.

To add interest to the background of the canvas I added a few pieces from the Broken Mesh set. The base of the cluster started with a large scroll border piece.

I turned the window & shutter sideways to accommodate the landscape photo. I trimmed away the centre piece of the window so that it draws the eye into the window.

Dusty Attic - 'Autumn' Nature Fairy

Hi Everyone!!

Sharing my latest creation created for the gorgeous Dusty Attic September Mood Board Challenge.

So this is the September Mood Board..

Loving the Autumn colours.

This is my interpretation.

'Autumn'
 'My Nature Fairy'

Her name is Autumn and she is my nature fairy. As you can probably see I was inspired by the colours of the mood board especially the picture on the top right. To dress Autumn I have used lots of  Dusty chipboard.

Autumn has all types of natural friends there are birds, ants and butterflies. She is adorned with flowers and vines that were painted to my desired colour.

Here dress was made from cheesecloth which was pulled apart and frayed to give a soft texture feel.

Her back cluster is made up of the smaller Industrial Heart, Boho Feathers and Fantasy Fronds. The created the grass pieces on the base stand I cut apart a Rosemary sprig.

Her wings were made from a double up of chipboard. I have used Laurel Sprigs and the thinner pieces of the Layered Flourish set.

So love the little mini Dusty butterflies, I have added a sprinkling of these little guys all over her. Here you can see the set of small mini branches and some of the small branches from the Foliage set.

This part of the front cluster was made up from one of the wings from the Wings #3 set.

Dusty Attic - Altered Christmas Bauble

Hi everyone!

Dropping in today to share a bauble that I altered using Dusty chipboard. I purchased this large clear plastic bauble from Woolworths, it did have coloured pompoms inside but I pulled off the top and removed them as I wanted it to be entirely clear and empty.

'Reindeer Bauble'

I am not a glittery person so I chose to use Finnabair silver and gold waxes to colour the chipboard once attached to the bauble. I really do love how it turned out.

So I went through all of my chipboard stash to find chipboard pieces that i thought had a bit of a Christmas feel to them and made a start.

For the main piece to wrap the bauble I chose to use the Lacy Pendant Drops chipboard, its design is just beautiful. As this didnt quiet reach around the bauble entirely I also used the large chippy piece from the Fleur de Lis set on the back of the bauble. Do not try to fold these pieces while they are dry as they will break, you will need to wet the chipboard and then carefully mold to the bauble.

On the chipboard chain pieces I attached pearls of different size to give a little dimension to the chippy. I love the extra detail that it gave to the overall effect of the bauble. I attached some of the smaller dusty stars from the Star #1 set to where the pendant drops were for added interested.

As I love cogs and I could not resist using the some stars from the Industrial stars set, the larger ones feature cogs while the smaller ones have a wire feel to them. I attached 2 of the smaller stars to the sides of the bauble while the larger star was used as a main feature on the front of the bauble.

I attached a large Dusty Reindeer to the front of the bauble which gave the bauble a lovely Christmas feel.

I then added some chain and a touch of bling to finish off the bauble.

Dusty Attic - Altered Birdcage

Dropping in today sharing a altered birdcage that I was asked to create as a gift for a friend. I was super nervous creating this for someone else to give as a gift but luckily for me they loved it and I was so so happy about that.

'Dream'

So to create the roof of the birdcage I wet and folded the large Wrought Iron chipboard piece from the Dusty Wrought Iron set. Once the chipboard is wet the chipboard is very easy to shape.

For added interest to the roof I then used the large trim piece from the Dusty Wrought Iron Trim set. This was cut into 3 pieces, then wet and folded to the desired shape.

To create the texture on the cage Finnabair Rust Paste was used and then to allow a little sparkle A wash of Finnabair Acrylic Paint Metallique Brass Hardware.

To the front of the cage I then added a Prima vine which was painted with black gesso, then given a brushing with Finnabair waxes, Royal Robes and Vintage Gold. Royal Robes reflects purple which was the gift receivers favourite colour, its simply beautiful!

I then added another of her favorite things...butterflies! The Dusty Flutterbies were perfect for this.

To finish off I then added chains and one of the new Dusty Word Tags...so love these!

Dusty Attic - Altered Lantern

Hi everyone!

Dropping in today sharing my little altered lantern. I purchased the small tealight lantern from Bunnings and then added quiet a few Dusty chippy pieces to alter it.

'Altered Lantern'

To colour the lantern I have used Finnabair Rust Paste and the newer Patina Paste set. I so love the texture and detail these pastes give, they blend together beautifully.

To create the main band of the lantern I used the Dusty Ivy Flourish over the top of  the Scroll Border #4. To enable the chippy to be able to bend around the lantern I soaked for a couple of seconds in water until it was slightly wet not thoroughly soaked, by doing this it will bend without breaking.

The front cluster has been made up from hearts cut from Medallions #1, Doodads #5, Industrial Stars, pieces cut from Lace Border #3 and Snowflakes.

The top piece for the lantern was created by cutting one of the lace pieces off of the Lace Border piece. I then attach and Industrial Star and title piece from the Cherish Yesterday word set.

Along with the chipboard I also added some metal pieces and metal buttons. To add extra interest I added a little bling to the chains and also added a very light dry brush Finnabair Vintage Silk wax.

Prima - Night Dragons

Hi Everyone!!

Sharing my little altered dragons today that I created for Prima. These little guys were purchased a little while ago when I went visiting the local junk shop..$2 bargain! When I purchased them I had the idea in mind and the Finnabair waxes and opal magic paints helped make them come to life.

'Night Dragons'

How adorable are these little guys? Super super cute!

I cut apart a Prima vine to add a little extra interest to each dragon before painting entirely with black gesso and then top coating with Finnabair waxes and Opal Magic paints.

For this little guy I added a Memory Hardware crown, I think it suits him :)

Dusty Attic - Altered Light Bulb

Dropping in today to share my altered light bulb. I have wanted to try to create a hot air balloon from a light bulb for ages so this month I thought I am going to give it a go using Dusty chippy and it worked exactly as I hoped it would.

'LIVE'

To create the balloon I firstly removed the insides out of the light bulb. The outside of the light bulb was then covered with Chandelier #3. The chandelier was placed in water and then once it was quiet wet it was then placed over the light bulb and then molded to shape. Once the chandelier was dry it was then attached using soft gloss gel.

To add extra interest to the balloon I then trimmed the thin decoration pieces from the bottom of the Luxury Scroll, this was also wet to allow it to fold around the light bulb without breaking. It was attached over the top of the chandelier and then I attached some small cogs to hide the joins. Some larger cogs were added to the front as a centerpiece.

At the back of the light bulb to give an extra feature I added a bit of a tail and to create this I cut apart the Lace Border and used one part of it.

To create the title for my balloon I cut apart one of the Medallions to make a fancy heart and then attached the title.

The basket of the balloon was then attached to a large cog which was cut in half to attach to the bottom of the bulb.

For extra trimming to the balloon I added chains and gems for a little bit of bling.

Dusty Attic - Web Of Creativity

Hi everyone!

Dropping by today to share my spider dreamcatcher aka my web of creativity. The dreamcatcher has been created entirely from Dusty chipboard. The chains are from a cheap necklace and I raided hubby's stash of screws in the shed.

'Web Of Creativity'

The dreamcatcher features a lot of the newly released Dusty chipboard which is absolutely gorgeous! The base of the dreacatcher started with the new large Dusty Clockworks clock and the new large Doily #10. The doily fitted perfectly behind the clock to create an added feature and it also kind of reminded me of a web.

To create the hands for the clock were created with 2 of the paintbrushes from the Dusty Paint brushes #2 set, they worked perfectly for the look I was going for. The large spider sits upon one of the new smaller clockworks clock faces. The foilage behind everything is also new and has been created using the Mystic Frame #2 and a Mystic Flourish.

The hearts have been cut from the new Medallions #1, I love the detail to them. To extra dreamcatcher tails have been created with 2 different sets of Dusty Doodads.

The hands for the smaller clock have been taken from the Perfect Moment title set.

Once the dreamcatcher was finished I added my cotton spiders web, just to make it look a little more authentic.
