Blue Fern Studios - Follow Your Heart

Hi Everyone!!

Dropping in today sharing a couple of layouts featuring Tattered Walls, Wanderlust and Blue Fern Chipboard. Both projects have been created similar as I am creating a serious of layouts to hang on our hallway wall. This also will be my final projects as part of this wonderful team, I would like to thank Leslie and Valerie for having me, I have really enjoyed being part of the team.

For my first page I chose to create with the new Tattered Walls collection. The papers of this collection are beautiful and are very versatile as they are suited for both male and female projects. Some papers have the most beautiful floral patterns.

'Follow Your Dreams'

I started this page by layering quiet a few pieces of Blue Fern chipboard. These were all painted with black gesso and on some of the pieces I added Blue Fern Soot glitter. This gave a little bit of a sparkle. 

I then painted the Wanderlust Lillies and Vine in black gesso. These were then all dry brushed with Finnabair waxes. I also added a sprinkling of Soot and Black Ice glitter.

I added some natural wooden buttons, jute and cotton thread for added texture.

For my second layout I mixed collections. I have used the Wanderlust collection and some paper from the Tattered Walls collection. It is quiet a dark page but I have given it a slight pop of purple to make it a little feminine.

'Let Your Light Shine'

This page was created in the same way as the page above except the main bulk of this cluster is the vine and flowers. I have coloured these once painted with black gesso with finnabair waxes.

I have used 2 Blue Fern chipboard corner flourishes. These were both cut in half and layered at both ends of the cluster. On the left side of the photo to create extra interest I have added and Opulence chipboard flourish.

I have once again added a slight sprinkling of Soot glitter just to give a slight sparkle when the light catches it.

Blue Fern Studios - Memories

Hello!!

Sharing a layout today created with the gorgeous new Tattered Walls Collection. This collection is amazing!! I love the rich colours and textures of the papers in this collection.

'Memories'

This layout was inspired by the rusty stains of the patterned paper. I really loved the colour and texture of this paper and found it perfect to create a page for my little man.

To create my main cluster I used quiet a few pieces of Blue Fern chipboard. The background started with the honeycomb bits chipboard. All of the chipboard and flower were coloured with rust paste to give that old rustic feel to my page.

I fussy cut the leaves from the Reading Room patterned paper and layered in between the flower and chipboard layers. The colour of the leaves perfectly complimented my page.

To add extra texture to my page I added some cotton thread, frayed cheese cloth and some plastic mesh from an old onion bag.

To finish off my page I added a sprinkling of Poppy and Twig seedlings.

Blue Fern Studios - This Moment

Hi Everyone!

Quick post today sharing another page created with Blue Fern Studios Tattered Walls Collection. For this page I chose to work with The Garage patterned paper. The blue colouring of this paper is gorgeous!

'This Moment'

This page has been created using many layers of chipboard and is super dimensional. The stars were covered with glue and Black Ice glitter applied. 

To create a bit of a grungy feel i once again coated a lot of the chipboard and flowers with rust paste.

The title chipboard was left natural as it was already a deep tan colour and complimented the page well. I have cut the This Moment part off of the title chipboard piece.

To create added texture i have added natural Jute string and cotton thread.

To finish off the page I have once again added a sprinkling of seedlings.

Blue Fern Studios - Remember When

Hello!!

Sharing a page today created for Blue Fern Studios. It feature the In The Mood collection and Deja'Vu collection.

'Remember When'

The idea for this layout started with the large heart which was cut from the Blissful paper from the In The Mood collection. I cut the heart out and folded in half, I then rolled the top corner to expose the inside pattern paper, its such a pretty colour. From there I wanted to work with soft pastel colours so I chose to do a lot of fussy cutting from the Atelier patterned paper from the Deja'Vu collection.

The fussy cut pieces were then layered in amongst the layers of Blue Fern blooms to create a gorgeous main cluster. I chose to use a darker background to make the soft colours pop.

At the base of the cluster I have used the Romantic Page Dangles chipboard. This has been left raw as I feel the raw colour complimented the page.

To add softness to the page I then added frayed cheesecloth and coordinating cotton thread. The title for my page was cut from one of the page title strips that is normally cut off and discarded, but I always look because sometimes these are perfect for titles just like this one.

Blue Fern Studios - Happy

Hello!

Quick post today to share a layout and tutorial created for Blue Fern Studios. I created a page for my son. I am always asked do you ever scrap boys? Well yes it just depends if my son wants to play along and have his photo taken.

'Happy'

This layout features fussy cut images from the Patience patterned paper from the Tranquility collection. I think the colours and images were perfect for a boyish page and look not a flower in sight.

Throughout the cluster I have placed some of the Blue Fern Shabby Brick Bits chipboard which has been coloured lightly to coordinate with my page.

To frame the photo and add extra texture I have used some this Jute string, I love its natural colouring. I have also added a little sprinkling of seedlings to this.

Between layers I have again used a natural coloured frayed cheesecloth which I have in places coloured with coordinating watercolour paint.

How cute is that little bird? Once again I have used the patterned paper title label strips that are cut off the pattern paper. The Tranquility strips had those cute little blue butterflies.

Blue Fern Studios - My Inspiration

Hello!

Quick post today to share another Blue Fern Studios Layout. I chose to go back to a favourite of mine white background. I chose to add fussy cut layers and add some of the Blue Fern mixed media ingredients. I have also created a step by step tutorail so maybe you can try your own or put your own spin on it.

'My Inspiration'

To create the main cluster I started by fussy cutting the flourishes from the Garden Life Morning Dew patterned paper.

In between each of the fussy cut layers I added a mixture of flowers and frayed cheesecloth. The background was created with a mixture of mica powders and paints. As I like my clusters to be tight I only allowed a little of the colour to show from behind.

In the background I also added Blue Fern seedlings and glitters. The main flower is one of the gorgeous white roses from the Garden Blooms set which was recoloured to coordinate with layout.

For the title I cut down the Blue Fern You Are My Inspiration chipboard title to just my inspiration bcause that is what my children are. All chipboard was left entirely raw.

Blue Fern Studios - My Loves

Howdy!!

Dropping in today to share a layout created for Blue Fern Studios. For this layout I mixed and matched collections. I have used papers from Amber & Apricot, Wanderlust and Seaside Cottage. I amazes me how beautifully the collections mix and match.

'My Loves'

So for this page was created with lots of fussy cut images from the different papers to create the dimensional cluster. The birds, brown leaves and yellow roses were cut from Birdsong and Sunny Deposition papers from the Amber And Apricot collection.

To get the fussy cut rose to blend into the paper I used the Penned Flourishes stamp and stamped a little more over the papers edge with black ink. It helped to blend it in perfectly.

In between each layer i added folded flowers and shredded cheesecloth to add extra interest and texture.

The frame around the top of my photo was cut from the In the Mood chipboard sheet and covered with some of the Seaside Cottage Mermaid patterned paper.

Blue Fern Studios - Love

Hello!!

Dropping in today to share a layout I created for Blue Fern Studios using their new collection In The Mood. Love this collection and its mixture of soft and dark colours.

For this layout I chose to pull the darker colour in the collection and give my main cluster a bit of a colour pop with vibrant red.

'Love'

To frame my photo I have used the outside hearts from the In The Mood chipboard sheet. To create the pens, I used the pen stamp from the Desk Set stamp set, this was then embossed with Ebony embossing powder.

The small lace flowers were cut from Lace 3B and I added some contrasting red pearls to the centres.  All chipboard was also coloured with Ebony embossing powder.

The background was created by using the Dusty Attic Scripture texture stencil with black gesso and the while nearly dry a sprinkling of Ruby Slippers glitter was applied.

To build up added interest to the cluster I added some of the cream flowers from the Chesterville florals set. I also added some natural cheesecloth to add extra texture and softness to the page.

Blue Fern Studios - Perfect Moment

Howdy!!

Sharing a page today created for Blue Fern Studios using the beautiful In The Mood collection.

For this page I chose to use the softer tones in the collection. I simply do adore this collection it is just so pretty. For this layout I also thought I would do a little step by step tutorial so you may be able to create this one yourself.

'Perfect Moment'

The small Roman clock face was cut in half layered and embossed with the gorgeous Pixie Dust embossing powder. The top half of the clock also had dark chocolate and Ivory embossing powders added.

The Dusty Attic frame behind the photo was coloured with Green Ivory embossing powder and I also added some Finnabair Snowflake Paste. In the background of the page there is a sprinkling of Mauve and Gold Nugget seedlings.

To create the cluster I started with some beautiful contrasting Prima flowers, for added interest I added some fussy cut flowers cut from the Attracted patterned paper.

The main feature flower is one of the lighter pink flowers from the Moody Florals set. I removed the centre of the flower and added my own.

The title, background flourish and the swirly vines are all by Dusty Attic. These were coloured with either Pixie Dust or Dark Chocolate embossing powder.
