Makayla's Star Card & fishing trip

Makayla stayed with us last night and went upstairs in my Crafty Cave with me to play.  She picked out a star set and went to town.  I helped her with the dp choice but she put it all together, stamped out the stars and cut them out.  Popped up the one on the left.  The inside is full of stars too.  She had fun making this beauty.

Before making a card her Papa took her out to the pond fishing. Look at this fishing girl:

1st Vacation in 4 yrs

OH WOW,
I can not believe Jessie & I have been on vacation almost 2 weeks.  His started last Monday, mine that Thursday.  We went to St.George Island and the beach was amazing.  I was afraid the water would be too cool to get in but I was able to get in the beach and the pool. Jessie even got in the pool with me. We spent 3 glorious days at the beach then came home and loaded up Monday and headed to Pine Mountain, GA.
WOW was that amazing. Our cabin was darling and so cozy.  We did have a lot of rain especially Tuesday night. I certainly could have done without all the thunder and lightening.
View from the back porch

Daffy, Donald, Daisy, Huey, Duey, & Louey payed a visit every time the back door opened.

Um, this one speaks for itself

I had been sitting on the couch for about 30min before I realized this pouting kid in the corner was there. It was so precious.

Wednesday we visited FDR's "Little White House"

This is the chair he was sitting in while having his portrait painted, the portrait that is left unfinished as he died after complaining of a severe headache

Here is the bed that FDR slept in while visiting Pine Mountain on his 41 visits.  I touched the foot board of the bed that a formed leader of our nation once slept on.  I stood in AWE. This was an amazing adventure.

Who's Who?

If you have ever had a kitten you know 1st of all they are very entertaining. LOL.
Jessie bought a new toy and left the box in the floor.  He knows how empty boxes taught this kitten. LOL.  After trying to destroy this annoying box the silly cat then discovered our stuffed "Charlie" cat.  After a thorough examination she still snuggled up to the stuffed cat and fell asleep.

A CASE of Friendship with Shannon

This is for today's FREE 4 ALL CHALLENGE # 69 - A CASE of Friendship where we were to CASE someone from here on SCS that was a good friend well this may sound corny by I am CASEing my BFF who is my oldest daughter. This hobby has been one of the best things we have ever got involved in together. It has been a blessing to me to have this hobby to share with her and certainly has brought us much closer together. I chose to CASE Shannon's I HEART NEVA. I will NEVER forget the Sunday morning that she called screaming in my ear "get up and look at who is FS today!!!!". I was as excited for myself as she was for me. It was a hoot. She made this card for me on my special day. I changed the layout, colors and image but used the same type of girl image. I colored this darling image one day when Shannon was over here and have never found the right time to use it until today. Since she had long ago been FS this is also for FEATURED STAMPER # 85 - It's Frog-Tastic.
The vellum sentiment is for Thursday's WAYS TO USE IT CHALLENGE # 327 - A Vision in Vellum. My layout is from Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 337.
The edge distressing is for Shannon since she is all about edge distressing. Now not only have I made this card but I am also going to be giving it to Shannon just to remind her she is my BEST FRIEND FOREVER!
RECIPE:
Stamps: Rosalie - CCDesigns
Paper: white, old olive, merrigold morning, dp, vellum
Accessories: copics, edge distressor, dimesionals
Techniques: edge distressing, copic coloring, 3D

Madison's Baptism

There is nothing more pleasing than when one of God's chosen comes forward and accepts the gift of eternal life provided by His son Jesus who died on the cross for our sins.  This is a picture of Shannon's middle child, Madison, who was baptized today.  I saw tears of joy from her mom and dad and smiles of pride from everyone else.

Here she has received a gift which is a King James Version of the Holy Bible with a White and Purple cover. WOW Purple is her most favorite color.

Her dad stepped behind her mom just as I was taking a picture.
Way to go Madison.  We are so proud of you.

A Fantastic Holiday Weekend Get A Way ending with a funeral

If you missed me over at SCS in the challenges it is because I shanghied my darling hubby Saturday morning and we headed to Keaton Beach with the boat for a day of fun and sun with some fishing as well.  We had a blast, went back to Perry and got a room, some fabulous dinner at Golden Coral right next door then a swim in the pool before heading to bed.  A fabulous breakfast this morning and a trip home to clean up the boat and the fish.
We are tired but still smiling.  Now we have to head for the funeral home tonight and then funeral tomorrow. My girls grandfather passed away just after midnight Saturday morning.

Jaylen's 3rd Birthday Party

So here is the table before it was destroyed, LOL

Michele came from the kitchen with the candles light while we sang Happy Birthday and before she sat the cake down good he was blowing out the candles. Too Cute.

Yeah he got them all out too.
His papa smoked some chicken and we had potato salad, deviled eggs, baked beans, garlic bread and strawberry cake. Yum Yum.

We all missed his Aunt Shah and cousin Madison who left church going home so sick.  Her Mom was so worried I got every 30 min updates which kept me informed of how she was doing and whether or not she was headed to the ER.  She finally settled down late Sunday night.

My New Porch & Patio Furniture

OK the back deck is finally finished and  of course the 1st order of business was New Patio Furniture and a grill out. Whoo Hoo can my baby build? Yes he can, Can my baby grill? Oh Yeah Baby he can. Yum Yum.

Pirate Jessie

OK, Jessie built the back porch on his house in 1988 and decided this year it needed to be replaced. He ripped off the porch top and today finished re-topping it. This is a picture of what I found when I got home. It is not always a safe thing for him to be off from work. He thinks of tooo many things to play with. LOL. I love me some Jessie.

Anniversary Weekend

We went to Manasas for the weekend and had a good time. I teased Jessie that he is such a romantical person for taking me camping in the woods on our Anniversary.
I still can not believe we have been married 12 years. He is so wonderful and I can not image life without him.
I woke up this morning just as tired as I was when I went to be so no card/project today. I will definetly have one tomorrow.
Until then, have a fabulous day.

Thanksgiving with the Family

OK so I spent most of the day Thursday while Jessie was at work (except for the 2hrs that I had to go in and work) in the kitchen for his family to come eat dinner with us when Jessie got home from work.
Then today I spent most of the day in the kitchen cooking for dinner to take to Michele's so my side of the family could get together for Thanksgiving. We had a blast and ate way to much again but I do love both of my families and spending time with them is precious. I miss those who are no longer with us but have to move on to enjoy those who are.
So anyway around 3pm I told Jessie "I AM NOT GOING ANYWHERE NEAR THAT STOVE TOMORROW", he laughed and asked what he was going to eat? What evah you can find to warm up but I AM NOT COOKING!! LOL.

I hope everyone has safe travels back home if you are away for the holiday.

Blast of a Fishing Trip

OK so I had a rough day at work Thursday and slept late Friday, my day off, which felt good until Jessie threw my fishing cap at me and said "come on we're burning daylight". Growl, snarl, snarl. I just wanted to relax and unwind to get over Thursday, but like a good trouper I get dressed and off we went. I do love fishing and mostly I love being with my darling wonderful husband so I knew even if the fish did not bite the day was not going to be a totally loss. To our surprise the trout were there and hungry. We must have caught 50 throw backs that were too small. We caught tons of bait fish and some big enough that he wanted to bring home to cook for his mom who loves small fish cooked too pieces. LOL.
She should love these 3 little guys. Just when we were getting ready to leave I turned around with a mouth full of water and all I could do was grunt and point to his rod that was bent all the way over. He grabbed it and the fight was on. 20min later this is what I netted for him. A 28 inch Red weighing in at 12 lb. Unfortunately being 28 inches makes it too long to keep with a slot of 17-27 inches. We got some pics, he kissed it and sent it back to reproduce and live to fight another day. What was funny is that as soon as Jessie got his rod and started his fight my line started peeling off and with rod bent I grabbed mine and here we go. Jessie was having to go from the front to the back of the boat to follow his while I was just trying to regain some line and hoping that I did not run out of line before whatever I had on ran out of steam. I was laughing and reeling at the same time. Jessie's fish got in view and we could see gold so we knew what his was and I could not believe my eyes when my fish got to the surface and we realized I had a red as well. Man I was happy. He kept saying "and you didn't want to come". Jessie was busy fighting his monster so I had to net mine when it got close enough. This was on the end of my line. Whoo Hoo. Was I happy that it was 22 inches and within legal limits. He is going home with us.
What a day on the water. It was fabulous.

Alana's 1st parade - Pepper Festival in Omega

Alana (facing the camera with her majic wand pointing up) got to march in her very 1st parade today in her home town Pepper Festival. We stood on the road side waiting, sweating and watching for my darling 1st grandchild and realizing how very fast she is growing up right before my eyes. Sorta scary.

Here is another snap of her waving her majic wand.

Here is Madison going down the slide, she and Brayden must have made 15 trips up and down that crazy thing. You can barely see Brayden behind Madison but he is there, he was just too quick to get a picture of .

Shannon was in charge of the camera during the parade and just had to take a picture of these darling little cars being driven by kids she knew. Are they adorable or what?

My New Flooring

Well I promised some pics when me new flooring was in and things settled so now I have some for you. WOW it is so amazing how much different it makes me feel about the rooms and my house. I love them. What do you think?

OK so this was my 1st dissappointment of this adventure. I was upstairs trying to get my crafty cave in order so I could play in the challenges while the guys were downstairs working in my master bathroom. They went to lunch I when I came downstairs this is what I found. The flooring on the left is what they had laid in my bathroom, the flooring on the right is what was already in the master bedroom laid about 5 yrs ago. These 2 rooms join each other and I am standing in the doorway taking this shot. Do you notice anything? Check out the direction of the patterns. I started to cry. They were already putting the shoe molding back around the edges. After they returned from lunch and I let them know how upset I was he admitted that he had placed flooring in this way before to save on materials and should have consulted with me. He wanted me to think about it overnight after Jessie got home and checked it out. If I still wanted it replaced he would do so.

Jessie got home and instantly said "why didn't they just go ahead and replace it, I do not want this left like this, I want the patterns to match". So they did, they took it up and made it right. Man does it look better.

Now that was more like it. ONce again I had a smile on my face. I love it.

I love it when a contractor gives you a quote and then sticks with it. I wrote a check for the exact same amount as the quote so I was really smiling then. Last time 5 yrs ago the quote and the end result was $5000. NOT at all happy with that. More pics of my crafty cave below but I am still trying to get it in order.
