MFP Oct Blog Hop Day 4 - Ginger Cookies

Hello! Welcome to the October 2011 MFP New Releases Blog Hop!

This month's new releases are: Holly Greetings, Christmas in the Country, Snowball?, Country Thanksgiving, Cardinals in Winter, and Ginger Cookies. For your convenience, all these sets are available TODAY at Mark's Finest Papers.

So, do you want to WIN today's Featured Stamp Set: Ginger Cookies? (If you don't want to wait to win, you can always purchase the sets right away! We'll substitute a set from NEXT month's release if today's winner has already purchased this set!)

For your chance to win: Comment on the following Design Team members' blogs TODAY before midnight EDT. There will be ONE random winner chosen from the comments on today's Blog Hop blogs. That winner will win Ginger Cookies. We will announce the winner's name on tomorrow's MFP blog post.

For this I altered a notepad so I could give it to someone to keep a list of recipes or menu ideas for the holidays.  I stamped the image in espress on vanilla then colored with copics, cut it out and popped it up on dimensionals.  I tied some ribbon through the spiral rings.

This is for today's FREE 4 ALL CHALLENGE # 86 - Cards With Character. Well the character that this was made for is certainly a card. My FIL is such a dear and even though he is a diabetic and watches what he eats he still loves his sweets so I always make him something with Splendar instead of sugar in it. This will be his Christmas card this year. I hope he likes it.
This is also for today's QUEEN FOR THE DAY CHALLENGE # 82 - Joan who is such a sweet heart. I always enjoy seeing her uploads and reading her comments she leaves me. I chose to CASE her GINGERBREAD COOKIES.
I changed the colors, layout and left off a recipe although I love how she did hers.
I used pink icing and hot pink gems for Thursday's WAYS TO USE IT CHALLENGE # 344 - Pink, Pink, Pink since I did not get to play yesturday and my layout is from Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 354.
My dp is from years ago and I do not even know how many years or where it came from. I used some ribbon and "V"'d the end for panel 3. I stamped this darling image which is from a just released acrylic set called 'GINGER COOKIES" from MARKS FINEST PAPERS in esspresso ink then colored with copics cut it out and popped it up.
Hope you like it and have a fabulous Friday.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Ginger Cookies - MFP
Paper: vanilla, Christmas dp
Ink: espresso
Accessories: ribbon, dimensionals, corner punch, white pearlex
Techniques: copic coloring, 3D

That winner will win Christmas in the Country and Snowball?. We will announce the winner's name on tomorrow's MFP blog post.

Oh how I love this fabulous set.  I stamped the image in momento tuxedo black using masking for the smaller moose image .  I added some color with copics then added some puffy snow using liquid applique and heating it from the backside
So for this I took some liberties with the snowman image and used the treat cups I have had for over a year and finally put to use.  On the left the view with the treat cup empty and on the right filled with tiny marshmellows. I glued a marshmellow above the left tree branch on the card front.

This is for today's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 354, Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 344 - Tempting Eggplant Pie and Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 346 - Stack Up The Backgrounds. I stamped my "Crackled" background image from Rubber Stampeded after stamping off using elegant eggplant ink then stamped a sentiment from a just released acrylic stamp set from MARKS FINEST PAPERS called "Christmas in the Country" in tempting turquoise and pumpkin pie inks randomly. My focal image is a cute penguin from "Snowball" stamp set also just released from MARKS FINEST PAPERS. I cut, embossed my focal panel with Nesties Label 4 then popped it up after coloring with copics. Now off to work on "Hump Day".
RECIPE
Stamps: Christmas in the Country, Snowball - MFP; crackel - rubber stampede
Paper: white, elegant eggplant, tempting turquoise, pumpkin pie
Ink: momento tuxedo black, elegant eggplant, tempting turquoise, pumpkin pie
Accessories: copics, dimensionals, stickles, Martha Stewart border punch, corner punch
Techniques: stacked backgrounds, copic coloring, 3D

MFP Oct Blog Hop Day 1 - Holly Greetings

So, do you want to WIN today's Featured Stamp Set: Holly Greetings? (If you don't want to wait to win, you can always purchase the sets right away! We'll substitute a set from NEXT month's release if today's winner has already purchased this set!)

For your chance to win: Comment on the following Design Team members' blogs TODAY before midnight EDT. There will be ONE random winner chosen from the comments on today's Blog Hop blogs. That winner will win Holly Greetings. We will announce the winner's name on tomorrow's MFP blog post.

So here is what I came up with using this fun set:
I stamped the holly and berry image in all 4 corners, colored with copics then tied some gold and red cording around the main panel and matted on green cs base.  The focal panel is one of the sentiments stamped in garden green cut and embossed using Nesties Label 1 then sponged on the inside of the nestie with real red.

This is for today's COLOR CHALLENGE # 344 - Tempting Eggplant Pie.
This is also for Monday's TECHNIQUE LOVERS CHALLENGE # 346 - Stack Up The Backgrounds. I stamped the background image from "BRICK WALL" acrylic stamp set after stamping off once then stamped the sentiment from "HOLLY CHRISTMAS" in elegant eggplant randomly followed by some tempting turquoise sponging around the edges.
My layout is from Monday's SKETCH AND STASH CHALLENGE # 72.
Now I have to admit I usually avoid detailed images such as this one as I have a hard time figuring out what is what but I did enjoy coloring this one even if I did it wrong. My image and sentiments are from a brand new set called "HOLLY CHRISTMAS" from MARKS FINEST PAPERS. After coloring I cut and embossed the focal panel using Nestie Label 9.
Hope you like it.
RECIPE:
Stamps: Holly Christmas, Brick Wall - MFP
Paper: white, elegant eggplant
Ink: momento tuxedo black, elegant eggplant, tempting turquoise
Accessories: ribobn, Nestie Label 9, dimensionals, sponges, stickles
Techniques: sponge distressing, 3D, layered background

My layout is from Wednesday's SKETCH CHALLENGE # 350.
My color combo is from Tuesday's COLOR CHALLENGE # 340 - Peaches, Poppies, Pools.

OK about my moon, the other night I saw the most incredible moon with an orange aura to it.  I tried to capture that with my prisma and a 1/2 inch circle punch.
I have tried this technique before and my attempts ended up in File 13 where this one should have gone, I do not know what I do wrong but just can NOT seem to get it right. Grrr. I think I am technique challenged. :-(

And here is my project I created for you. It is a covered post-it note. I use post-it notes all the time and love to have them decorated for my desk so I am gifting this to one of my co-workers for her desk. I think she will like it.
I stamped my image in momento tuxedo black then colored with copics (see pic below for colors).  I then added some white liquid applique allowed it to dry then heat set from the back side of the cs. This makes it sorta poofy.  Hoping it looks like snow which I am praying we do not see again this year.  Had it 2 times last winter.  I am not adaptable to snow that is why I live in the deep south. LOL.

I raised the top up so you could see the post-it note underneath:
Here are the copics I used for coloring.
Now go check out the other DT members and see what eye candy they have created for you.
