It has been a long weekend

We're home, finally. The viewing was on Friday and the funeral on Saturday. Did family stuff Sunday and this morning before the long drive home. Came home to find that Rascal had escaped somehow and died. We have no idea how he could have escaped since the cage was latched. There was no evidence that anyone came into our backyard (A had put stops up against the gates so if someone had come in, it would have been obvious).

A took pity on me and buried him tonight instead of waiting until the morning. Maybe it is a good thing, to have another reason to cry instead of holding everything in.

I need a rabbit cam

The rabbit hutch is just outside the living room door. We have our computer in here, plus we watch TV in here. We keep hearing all kinds of banging noises from the rabbit's corner. We haven't been able to catch him doing anything. As soon as we peek outside, he's as still and quiet as a mouse. So we have no idea what he's doing. But we're darn curious!

And here's a little hay update. I've given away two large bags of hay and will give away another next week. But I haven't touched the two garbage cans yet (we filled two clean 42 gallon cans with hay). I'm still working on what I put into the small box. For a while, it seemed like it would never empty. As I pulled more hay out, what was left would uncompress to fill the space. It's been a month and I can finally close the lid.

Hay, hay!

I'm now the proud owner of a bale of hay. Why you ask? For Rascal of course! We got tired of going to the feed store every month to replenish his hay supply so I talked A into buying a bale. It is a much better value than buying the shopping bag sized bags of hay, which costs $5.99. The bale was $25. I'd guesstimate that the bale equals at least 10 of the smaller bags. If the hay goes bad before Rascal eats it all, I can always use it for compost or mulch.

So far, I've found two people to share the bale with. If you have any need for Timothy hay, you know where to find me.
