Happy birthday Ett Trykk!!! - Mini tutorial on how to color an image using distress inks.

The Norwegian Magazine Ett Trykk is celebrating  it's 10 year anniverseray! I am honored to join in the celebration with a fun challenge and special post over at the Ett Trykk blog. Please pop by to join in the fun!

I made two small tutorials on how to color with distress inks and copic markers.
You can see the Copic Marker card and tutorial HERE!

For Norwegian version check out the Ett Trykk blog.
For Norsk versjon sjekk Ett Trykk blog.

Here's my card using Distress inks to color the image.
Materials used: Maja Design design papers, Sizzix Tim Holtz- Picture Wheel dies, Spellbinders - Swirl and corner dies, La La Land crafts - Lattice border dies, WOC and Kort og Godt- flowers, Panduro - pearls. I used my sewing machine on the edges of the design papers, and Vintage photo distress ink. Sentiment stamp by Norsk Stempelblad.

Here are the two images, copics left and distress inks on the right:

Here are some tips on how to color using distress inks:
When coloring with distressink I stamp with StazOn ink on Heavy Aquarell paper (300g) and I use a thin synthetic brush to paint. I use distress ink  pads, refills or markers. When coloring apply a small amount of ink with a brush (or marker), dip the brush in water, wipe some of the water of on a a paper towel and use circular movements to blend the ink, quickly before it dries. Repeat layer by layer with the colors you want to use.

I start using Tattered Rose (top right), then a second layer using Vintage Photo (top left). Cheeks are a mixture of Tattered Rose and Aged Mahogony (just a little tiny drop). For the hair I use Antique Linen for the first layer, then Walnut Stain another two or three layers.

Bodice and branch are colored with Antique Linen, then Walnut Stain and I use Black Sooth for shading (a very small amount). The bird is colored using Wild Honey and Vintage Photo. Black Sooth for the eggs. Leaves are colored with Bundled Sage and Black Sooth.
The skirt is colored using Velvet Rose, and then Black Sooth for shading.
The background is Stormy Sky.

The beautiful image is Red Rose by Little Darling Rubber Stamps/ Saturated Canary

Hope you picked up a tip or two. And I do hope you will be joining in the challenge over at

Pocket card in blue and white

Hi crafty friends,
Today I want to show you a card I made using two things I haven't used in a long time. Distress inks and a Magnolia image. I do love my little Maggies (and I have soooo many of them), but I have been neglecting them for a while lol.

I made a pocket with cardstock and a tag to go inside. Papers are Vibeke Spigseth/Poppy design, I used a Martha Stewart punch, Spellbinders oval and scalloped oval and circle and scalloped circle, flowers by WOC and Panduro, charms from ebay, branch dies by Marianne design. Ribbon from stash and sentiments by Norsk Stempleblad AS.

I colored this cute Tilda with snow heart with distress inks. Skin is tattered rose and vintage photo, clothes are stormy sky and pumice stone. Shadows are made using black sooth. I used Frantage chunky white around the image to make the snow.

I made a simple tag using another Martha Stewart punch on one of the edges. Big sentiment is also by Norsk Stempleblad AS.

This card was published in the Christmas edition of Ett Trykk "Julehilsen"
Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Have a great day!

Tag- Friendship is....

Hi peeps,

Hope you are enjoying the beautiful hint of summer. Love this time of year!
I wanted to show you a tag I made for Ett Trykk earlier this year. No colored image and no card this time...lol... can you believe it!?!

I made this (with a few minor adjustments) using a tutorial I found over at Tammy Tutterow's blog using her embossing powder resist technique. Thanks Tammy!

I cut a tag from white card stock and made the color using distress inks: Victorian Velvet, Dusty Concord and Walnut Stain.
The stamps used are by Stempelglede – swirls, sentiment and Magnolia - butterflies
I used  Live & Love Crafts' Shabby Seam binding and Bark Hearts and roses by WOC.
I also used Embossing ink, Frantage embossing enamel: Shabby White.

Step by step: Make the tag from white card stock. Then stamp the swirls using embossing ink. Next cover the tag using Frantage, shake off the excess powder, heat using a heat gun. Next color the tag using distress inks in different colors. The embossing will keep the swirls white! Then stamp on the butterfly and sentiment using waterproof ink.  See the fab tutorial over at Tammy's blog for detailed instructions with pictures.

Thanks for stopping by my blog this evening,
wishing you a creative week!

Magic card

Hello friends,
How are you all doing? I've been busy doing everything but crafting lately. So I haven't had time for blogging or making cards. That's why I've been such a bad blogger. Sorry.

I plan to change that very soon, but until I get the time, I'll show you a card I made for Ett Trykk for the February edition.

It's a magic card. I found the tutorial over at the talented Mariannes blog. I just added a pocket with tag on the inside.

The papers are Maja Design. I used spellbinder dies and Magnolia dies and a sentiment by Norsk Stempelblad AS. The image is from the Tutu Sweet set from Penny Black, the image is called Odette by Mo Manning. Such a cute ballerina! I colored her using distress inks.

I made a little pocket for a tag. The tag is a Go Create die. The sentiment, ballerina shoes and the ballerina bear is from the same Penny black stamp set.

Hope you like it.
Thanks for stopping by my blog today,
wishing you a creative spring!

Good evening crafters!

Here's a card I made for a new little man I know. My friend had a gorgeous little baby boy a while back, and I made this for my very first visit.
I mad this from Norma of FromMyCraftroom's template, I just made a few changes in size and layout. Very clean and simple.....

Papers are Maja Design- Vintage Autumn Basic. I used Spellbinder Scalloped circle dies and Lifestyle Crafts circle dies for the window, and Filegree corner dies by La La Land crafts. The letters are by Panduro.
The Magnolia image is colored with distress inks.

The sentiment inside is from Kreativ Hobby.

Thanks for stopping by tonight, wishing you a fabulous weekend!
