Spring Break Week 2

We took a few hours and went a bought Jacob a bike - the deal was that if he finally learned to ride a bike, we would buy him one. He absolutely loved riding once he got the knack. Here he is at day one with the new bike. His sister got her birthday gift a month early - she wanted roller blades but it wasn't easy to get a photo of her so I am posting what I could get!

Snarly looking, eh?! She hates having her photo taken lately but I just keep trying!

Easter!

We had a great turkey dinner today and lots of action in the kitchen. Jacob spent a little while the night before coloring eggs for me to use as a centerpiece on the table. He did a great job making them nice and colorful.

Went for a Walk

Went for a little walk along the river today with Desiree, Jacob and Bruce. We took some camera's to make it a little more interesting. Here's an old tree - you can see how big it is in comparison to Jacob who is ten and almost as tall as me. I wonder how healthy this tree is - it is completely covered in moss. It looks a little spooky too!

Spring Has Sprung!

I saw this one little bunch of flowers growing out of a crack by the driveway...I just can't believe how all these can grow there!

My God...she's watching TV!

I just couldn't resist taking this photo... the cat was watching TV! Not the greatest photo cause I wanted to get it so just snapped before she could move. I guess she likes the news... ha ha ha!

Van Dusen Gardens

This was taken a few years ago but I happened across the photos while looking for something else - I'm sick of snow and cold weather and maybe the rest of you are too!

In the late 80's

When I first moved to this house, my kids were young and my son was interested in building things... here is his 'fort' and a view of what the yard looked like at that time.

Time went on and we planted and tended the gardens and lo and behold things grew, stairs got built and trees were planted - the smaller and cheaper the better, at that time when money was in short supply.

Today we are trimming like mad to keep it under control! The 2nd photo is part of the area of the top one. The raccoon is just a little bonus of having nature so close!

Birthday Cake

Today is Kate's real birthday... she wanted to have Bruce share a cake with her so I made a diet cheesecake when she was here and before Bruce went for his nap and onto nightshift they quickly sat down and blew out their candle! Bruce's birthday is tomorrow so we are going to meet up with the other two kids one day this week for a meal.
