Goin' Off to Work!!

Hiya friends & welcome to another Tuesday! I have had sooooo much fun reading everyone's humorous & exciting stories on my post below--gave me some great laughs yesterday. So thanks bigtime for that--I appreciate it. Nothing exciting happened yesterday thank goodness--unless you consider greasing the pole that our huge birdfeeder is on w/ vaseline & watching the squirrels trying to climb it--now that would make ya laugh, LOL! The wildlife has run amuck at the Dean house I say, hee hee! Anywhoo, onto the projects of the day!

Today is Try It Out Tuesday for Susana's Custom Art & Card Design and I've challenged the DT to create a project for Father's Day (which is right around the corner on the 21st)! I've had an idea brewing in my head for a bit and couldn't wait to make it!

I made an origami tie card and a briefcase-looking gift card holder for my hubster--he goes to work most days in a suit/tie & always has his briefcase so I know he'll get a kick out of these. You can find the directions to make the origami tie HERE (I used an 8x8" square of paper). Directions for the gift card holder can be found HERE--I paper pieced the front to make it into a briefcase using nestabilities to cut the handles out, a buckle punch for the buckle and embossed the front flap with my CB folder & then distressed all the edges. The dp and cs is all from Paper Trey Ink (Men of Life dp, spring rain & poppy red cs).

Here are the views of the inside of the gift card holder & the backside of the origami tie card. I used Pink Cat Studio's (available now at Susana's store) "QT Hooty" stamp set which has this great guy-inspired owl, so cute! I colored him up with Copics, added some diamond glaze to his eyes & matted him with cs. The "Whoo's #1" sentiment is from the same set, the other sentiment is from Gina K's "Kindred Greetings for Him". The origami tie isn't hard to make at all--considering I'm a origami dummy at times, LOL!
These gift card holders are so much fun to make & easy peasy too--you can make bunches in no time at all. I added a Basic Grey magnet under the cs on the front & one on the back so that it stays closed real nice. Hope you liked my Father's Day gifts! Don't forget to stop by the "Follow Your Heart Blog" to see the rest of the DT's fabulous projects--might give you some ideas for your own hubbies or dads :o)

In other news, thought you might like to see one of my cat's all dressed up & ready to go to work, LMBO!!
This is my Poncho--my grumpy baby that only loves me, hee hee. I do whatever I can to give myself a good laugh during the day, sometimes at my pet's expense, LOL (hey I've got 7 of them so there's always some fun goin' on)! So I bought this lil' cat tie at Target for like $2 and had to put it on Poncho--he was so thrilled but suffered thru since I was dishing out his dinner--ha ha!
Here he is giving me his "grumpy stare" like he's saying "hey, dumb women take the picture & give me my dinner!" LOL!! Ahhh, what a good laugh I had!

Have a wonderful day & see you back here tomorrow with another Whiff of Joy sneak peek & a peek of some new Anki's Sweethearts for SCACD that will be coming out this Friday--so make sure to check back!

Suzanne

Happy Hoo-Lidays!!

Happy Saturday everyone! It's a quick post for ya today cuz' we are busy running errands and then I have lots of projects to finish before Monday! If you have holiday plans this weekend, hope you have a roarin' good time!

Another Christmas card done with my Pink Cat Studio stamps--I've had this QT Hooty Owl set for awhile and never inked this one up (GASP)! I think this image w/ his lil' scarf on is just adorable. The dp is Imaginisce's "Snowy Jo" (lovee it) so I colored him w/ Copics to match. I added diamond glaze to his eyes and some liquid applique to his cap. The sentiment is from the same set but I shortened it and didn't stamp out the "happy" part.

The ribbon & buttons are from SU and that red stuff is scrappers floss---oh boy how I love this new find!! It works great for tying thru buttons, but the best part is it keeps its form--I twirled mine around a pencil and it keeps its curls--so fun!!! Susana's Custom Art & Card Design will have this in next week in lots of yummy colors, so make sure and check it out--you'll love it for sure! The lil sparkly jewels in the corner are Stampendous GeoSparklers and they are so fun to use--they come in brilliant colors, tons on a sheet in all different shapes & sizes. I will say that I learned a lesson tho' (LOL)--apply your GeoSparklers AFTER heating anything on your card or they will MELT & curl up--let's just say I learned the hard way, LOL!!

Newsies for ya:

-Spiral Whisper has new stamps coming out and there's yummy blog candy to win, so go here to enter!

-January 3rd the new releases from Whiff of Joy will be out, so stay tuned for sneaky peekies!

-7 Kids College Fund has Copics for sale now at their store that were handpicked by me!!

Alright, I'm off to do errands! Remember you have until tomorrow night to enter for my Rubber Romance blog candy on THIS POST!! No post for me tomorrow, as we're off to Gingerbread Land, lol, to decorate our gingerbread houses!

One of Those Days...

Happy Monday (I guess)! Another Monday, another week--I'm not a fan of Mondays I must say! Mondays always start with an impossibly, long to-do list for the week & seems overwhelming at times, ya know. And its been one of "those" mornings, if ya know what I mean--the kind where you probably should never have gotten outta bed! I woke up to kitty puke on my floors (yuck) and then went outside with the dogs and stepped in doggy doo with my new slippers (not a good start). Then I dropped an egg on my kitchen floor which proceeded to splat all under the fridge and then burned myself on the pan--this is when I should've just sat my bottom down-lol! After all that, I decided I'd go in my craft room and get some things done. I had finished my beach card yesterday so I wanted to take a picture of it to post. Somehow it got lost--yep that's right, I lost my new card in my craft room. You know how Jeff Foxworthy says "you know you might be...", well mine would be "you know you might need to clean & organize your craft room" and then you wouldn't lose things--lol! After a wasted 20 mins of looking, my son found it out on our kitchen desk--go figure! Guess I need to organize some tonight!

Ok, the first card is with the new Pink Cat Studio stamps called QT Hooty Owl--they are so cute, all of them. I stamped my owl twice and his ballons 2 more times because I knew I wanted him to hold a bunch of balloons (he only holds one on the stamp) and I wanted to pop up his wings and one of the balloons. He's colored with Copics and the balloons have stickles on them. I tried paper piercing for the 1st time--can ya believe it? I had bought my paper piercer and some templates awhile ago, because I like seeing what everyone does with it on their cards, but had yet to try it. My templates I bought at Michaels and they are just the plastic canvas grids found in the needlepoint section (square & circle shapes for $0.49)--I read about this tip from someone's blog (can't remember who)--definitely makes it easier to line up! The cutie patootie dp is from DCWV "Nana's Kids-glitter" and cs is from PTI (lavender moon, plum pudding & lemon tart) and those wonderfully sparkly, glitter brads are from Making Memories--lovey them.

The second card (this is the one I lost-lol) is my beachy keen card as I call it. So wish I was there! This stamp set (You Are My Sunshine) was the "free w/ three" set at Gina K's last month (buy 3 stamp sets get this one free--although this month's free set is different)--now you can buy this set at her site. I like the stamps that came in this set & the sentiments are great too. I really wanted to use soft, beachy colors for this card. I used my Copics again to color and then went over everything with my C1 copic (cool gray) to tone everything down evenly. I put Diamond Glaze on the water (2 coats) to make it glassy and then added a little bit of diamond stickles to it with my finger when it had dried for some extra shimmer. The dp is from Cosmo Cricket (I think--I only had some scraps of it left) but I thought it looked like cabana stripes, so I colored the beach umbrella to match. The cs is from PTI (aqua mist, berry sorbet & lemon tart). The berry sorbet cs I embossed w/ my cuttlebug folder and then rubbed over it w/ a cream ink from Colorbox chalk ink (Cats Eye). I added a little shell to the beach and a starfish to the sentiment (both I got in a pack of shells from AC Moore). The beads I thought looked like sea glass and just add a little "somethin" to finish it off. Hope you likee them all!

Hopefully the rest of my day will go smoother & hopefully you all are having a great day! I'm off to craft some more...
