Open-Minded Crafting Fun Challenge #6 - Seasons/Holidays

Good morning!! Happy 10th of the month!!  Today is a new challenge over at Open-Minded Crafting Fun. We are on Challenge #6, which has a theme of Seasons/Holidays. You can create anything for any holiday or any season. I can't wait to see what everyone creates! We will hopefully have a wide variety of items!

Our wonderful sponsors for June are:

We love our sponsors!! Please sure to show them the love!! They are so appreciated for all they do! Thank you!!

This challenge was a perfect excuse to create a Christmas card :)  So, that is exactly what I did:

For this one I started with my image from DigiStamps4Joy - Nativity Globe. The image was colored using Copic Markers. I did a bit of layering as well. I wanted to create a shaker with it, but then what to do with the shaker. I decided to put it on an easel card. The background of the globe image was created using Distress Ink. I created the snow flakes using Copic Opaque White. I've added some seed beads, star sequins and gold and white sequins on the inside of the shaker. I used some Wink of Stella on the star at the top. I've used all paper scraps. The metal tag says Merry Christmas and I've used some Alcohol inks to color it. I have also added some doodling on the bottom panel. I also doodled "a Savior is Born".  I also added a couple of rhinestone stars there as well. There are some stickers on the sides - the cross and the poinsettia. I added a bit of ribbon as well.

Copic Markers Used:
    • Manger: E31, E35, E37
    • Hay: Y00, Y21, Y32

Easter Bunny Card

Good morning everyone!! I have been super busy at work and have not had time to post anything. But! I have gotten a lot done at work, a lot of Lacrosse games to see and we have been going, going, going!

Bailey has had Lacrosse practice every night after school. She has had two games as well. She did really well on her first game.. they ended in a tie. She stopped some penalty shots right at the end to keep the tie! I was so proud of her. Then, her second game wasn't so great. The team they played against was really tough. She got super stressed, her team really couldn't keep the ball. The were dropping the balls, they couldn't catch the passes, she would clear the ball, they would miss or get beat to it and they were shooting at her again. It was a tough game. I've tried to get her to understand to use those games as a good chalk up to learning. You stay calm, you keep your head and you do your best. You keep blocking shots and the more shots they take on you, the more practice and experience you are getting. I know that's hard to do in a game, but she can work at it :)  She was making stupid choices and getting really emotional. She is a good goalie though. She just has to work through those things. So proud of her.. always!

Michael is passing all of his classes right now.. so that is a good thing! And he is working a lot. He is working a little too much. I don't think he is getting enough sleep, but you can't talk to him. He is a 17 year old and that's it... he thinks everything is fine LOL  Oh well!

Kevin has had some Dr. Appointments. He is actually feeling a bit better over the past few days with his stomach issues, so we will see if what they are doing will work! He has to get a colonoscopy at the end of the month and he is REALLY stressing over that!

Me? I have been coloring, crafting and working and coaching Bailey and going to the Varsity and her JV games too. That has been it! Keeping really busy!

Okay... here is the card I'm sharing today.. this another Easter creation:

For this one I've used the new awesome Wee Stamp -- Bonnie. Isn't she just too cute! I've colored her with my Copic Markers. I've colored the background with Copic markers and some spotting with the Colorless Blender. I've popped up the banner, the flowers, leaves and the basket. I've used some Wink of Stella on the flowers and some dimensional paint in the centers of the flowers and the yellow dots around the flowers. I've done a bit of dry embossing, I've used quite a few different patterned paper scraps on this card. The die cut around the image is from My Favorite Things. I've also added those pearls at the bottom and some pastel ribbon to add to the spring/Easter pastel colors. For the inside I've used some patterned papers, ribbon and more pearls to finish it off. The embossing was continued on the inside as well.

Copic Markers Used:
  • Background: G24, G14, B04, B16, BG23, BG13
  • Flowers: R00, R11, R22, R24
  • Leaves: YG11, YG13, YG17
  • Flower Centers: Y11, Y15

Thinking of Easter

With thoughts of my Etsy Shop and trying to build it up, I had the idea that I needed to get busy on some Easter cards. I'm trying to think ahead. I need St. Patty's Day and I need Easter. And if I'm going to put this work into the shop, I better get the correct items in there, right? So, that is what I have started working on. I've made a few Easter cards. I started out with some Religious Easter cards; the true reason for the season. I'm also going to do some cute bunny cards as well. So, I thought I would share my first Easter creation with all of you today:

For my first card I went with this beautiful cross. I have no idea who's it is. I have to go through my images to figure it out. It is a pretty simple cross and I used my Copic Markers to color in the leaves and flowers on the cross. I fussy cut the cross of course and popped it up one level. I dug out all my scraps and this card is all scraps! I went with purple, black and white. The bottoms were all cut with an edge punch. The black paper behind was embossed with an embossing folder. I added some stitching and some ribbon. The Psalm 97:1 was designed and printed and then I added some small dew drops onto them. I also printed the Happy Easter on the inside and added some dew drops there as well as some of the ribbon.

Cute As A Button Guest Designer

Good morning everyone! It has been a hectic couple of weeks. I'm not feeling all that great for the past couple of days. I think I may be fighting the ick that my son has; He has strep throat. I took him to the doctor on Friday to get that figured out and him on antibiotics. And my 17 year old son who doesn't really like to hang around us decides to get himself all comfy on the couch near Kevin and I with his blowing of nose and coughing!  What the heck! LOL  So.. I think my body is trying its best to fight off whatever it is trying to fight off. My throat is sore a bit... but my body must be working in overdrive, because it doesn't seem to be getting worse. I do feel a bit run down, but not overly. I'll be good! Having to take care of the sick, boy/man strep ridden 17 year old didn't help I'm sure! You know... he had strep 10 times worse than anyone else would have. It was tired from walking up the stairs, needed mom to poor the medicine... You know... that sort of thing LOL  Then, my daughter and I worked one of the two concession stand jobs that I have to do this year with her in Lacrosse. Nothing like paying out of the nose to play lacrosse and then she is a goalie, so we had to pay out of the nose to get goalie gear for her and then I have to work two concession stands too!  No breaks for a goalie!! Last night her and I watched the All Star National Hockey League games; That was fun! Anyway!! I'm back at work... hoping the week will go smoothly!

I spent my weekend taking care of him, but trying to get this done for Cute As A Button and then finish up two Chinese New Year cards for someone at work. So, I managed to finish everything I needed to yesterday, but then this post got delayed. So, here I am this morning trying to get it up :)

I hope you all are well and healthy and had a great weekend! The weather was beautiful here! Although, I think we have some storms headed this way!  Have a great Monday and week ahead everyone!

So, this was created for my Guest Design Spot at Cute As A Button -- Thank you so much Francesca!! It was truly an honor to be able to work with your image. Thank you!! The theme for this challenge is Shabby Chic and well.... I immediately go into panic mode!! I have no idea what Shabby Chic is really... but I wing it and try to do my best LOL!  I decided to do something different with this one. I have used "Jester" from Cute As A Button.  I've colored her with my Copic Markers and done a small bit of layering on the image. I have used a Canvas to create this little piece of art. It is a 5 x 7 canvas and I've painted by sponging on pink acrylic paint and then sparsely sponging some white paint over the pink. Then I used gold and pink texture paste with two different stencils. The gold you can see a bit on the bottom corner and the pink is the dots you can see in the upper corner. I used some vellum that I tore the edges  and some patterned paper that I distressed the edges. I added some off white lace to the side and then added some different flowers. I added some pink pearl strands and some ribbon around the flower spray on the side to finish it off.  I think it kind of comes off to whatever I think Shabby Chic is LOL  This is probably the closest I've come to creating something shabby chic! And I really enjoyed working with a canvas and creating a mixed media creation. I had a lot of fun with it.
