I'm beginning to feel as if I'm living and working in a warehouse. Everywhere I turn, this is what I see:
Yes, that's dust on that poor table! I'm about 2/3 of the way there with both house and classroom. Empty boxes don't stand a chance around me!
My yard sale was challenging at best. It started out alright and I made about $100 before the rains came. It poured. Well, after hauling all the stuff outside, I was too tired to try to haul it back in. So, it got wet. Very wet. Then we had the bright idea to call the junk company and see if they'd come and take away the remaining stuff, as well as the junk in the attic, basement, and garage. They were more than happy to come. So, two young guys...who actually looked like gang members...show up, walk through the house, and give us an estimate....are you ready.....$1500. That's when I went crazy!
Now, really, I think I've held it together remarkable well through all of this: selling the house, applying for jobs, interviewing for jobs, obtaining jobs, shopping for homes, putting offers on homes, finding the home, applying for the mortgage, gathering the paperwork for the mortgage, promising my first unborn future grandchild to bank for mortgage, waiting....waiting....waiting....packing, having the car die, shlepping rides from my 84 year old father-in-law because to rent a car will take precious money away from closing costs, packing some more, saying goodbye to friends and co-workers, waiting...waiting....well you get the idea!
So, in front of the "hoods" I began to pull all the yard sale stuff off of the sopping blankets and toss it, not terribly gently, into garbage bags! There was no way I was paying them that money and there was no way I was bringing that stuff back into the house! I think I actually scared them--instead of the other way around! It takes a lot to break women...but when we crack...watch out! Then...like any self-respecting lady...I went inside and bawled my eyes out just like Lucy would have in an I Love Lucy show. Poor hubby! After that I was much, much better! ;-)
Later that night, we took some of our earnings and treated ourselves to dinner out for an early anniversary. It was the best dinner I've had in a while!
So, we close on the 29th and move on the 30th and I think I'll sleep for two or three days straight, then unpack those boxes...and shop for a new car!
I'm not sure when I'll be able to stomach another yard sale though! ~grin~

Garden Goodbyes and Yard Sale Staging
Things are chugging along swimmingly with our up and coming move. Last weekend, we had the home inspection for the new digs. What fun to spend an hour or so poking around the house, investigating all the nook and crannies. We fell in love with it all over again!
Back at the other house, packing begins in earnest, with gathering stuff for a yard sale this weekend. The front hall has become our staging area!
This is actually just a portion. It's too hot to gather tonight...and tomorrow promises to be hotter.
Because it's so hot, I've been very lenient with my students...we drew our pretend creatures for our "create a creature" adaptation project today, and that's about it! We kept the lights out, a small fan going, and took it easy! Twenty-six kids in one hot room...yikes!
I'm filling boxes as fast as I get them. I am thankful that I am an organized person! We had our mortgage meeting last night and we should get final approval next week. They are also working on having the closings on the same day...good, because they thought the new property would close a week later, meaning that we'd have to rent off of our buyer for a week to the tune of $700. Ouch! Anyway, hopefully we'll get our wish and close both places on our 4th anniversary. Nice!
My little garden here looks great...with irises and peonies blooming.
I'm excited to plan a new garden! But, sad to leave such well-developed peonies!
On a sad note, my car really and truly died. That's the only bad news of late. Apparently the radiator was leaking into the engine. Our mechanic thinks it's not worth fixing at 3K. I'd have to agree! We'll wait a bit to get through the house stuff, then get a new car. So...new job...new state...new house...new car....new gardens...new cat....geesh, I hope that's it!!
I have been a bit lax in leaving comments on all of your blogs. I am reading all of them faithfully, but sometimes I am a tad bit overwhelmed! I can't wait to just chill!!
Stay cool!

Waiting and Keeping Busy
Moving into the final lap...I'm packing at work and packing at home. I wish I had a team of people to help put together a massive yard sale on Saturday. I have so much stuff. (And no, as far as I know, I'm not quite a hoarder, but I'm wondering if I was headed in that direction!) I'm going from a 2000 sq. ft house to a 1500 sq. ft. house. I actually love that part. I even look at our books and think that weeding most of them out would be a good thing. In a way, it's fun to purge. You start to ask yourself what is crucial and what you really use. Hard for us collectors! I'm still drawn to glassware and I have enough to host a rather large party!
Yesterday, the radiator in my car went south on me. I first pulled into a small two pump gas station. They gave it a quick look and said I needed water. So, I bought water and we filled it up. Within two miles, I was back on H and beginning to panic. Now, I pull into another service station. Apparently my radiator was cracked. So, I call AAA to get a tow to my regular mechanic. Well, they say between 30 minutes and 1 hour....4 hours later, I'm still there! Yes, I sat in my car for 4 solid hours looking at traffic! Did I have a book? Some needlework? A decent snack? NO! Finally, AAA told me I could go and they'd pick the car up without me. They did that at hour 5! I now know why air traffic controllers fall asleep on the job. I spent 4 hours watching traffic. Not real fun. My good BIL finally came and got me. Then he spent the afternoon shlepping me around to the bank and to fax documents for the house purchase.
Amid all this crazy stuff, I'm still actually trying to do some crafting. I started a little applique piece.
I've got it pinned downed. I work on this in the middle of the night when I can't sleep! It's comforting. I really love these penny rugs pieces. I need to work on the consistency of my stitches...but it's fun! I also dyed some wool. I needed to dye some wool for my flower pot rug. And I did, but I thought, while I'm at it, I'd try some from the Red Saltbox. The colors are so rich.
I feel like I should dye up as much as possible before I'm on well water. But, even then, I will figure out how to get good colors with the different water! I can't wait to use these colors. They are just wonderful...the pictures don't do them justice.
So, that's it for me today. I will try to post more regularly. It's been a crazy 6 weeks.
Have a good one everybody!
