Yippee!!

Hi Everybody!!
I'm thrilled to say that vacation has started!  February break is here and I'm eager to get many things done that are relaxing and fun!  After all the crazy storms and snow and being cooped up indoors, kids and teachers, alike, fairly skipped out the doors today.  We hit the high 50s for temps and it has definitely shrunk the snowbanks.

I've been a bit lax in my posting lately, but I wanted to actually have some accomplishments to share on my rug.  I really appreciated all of your suggestions about unhooking, persevering, and trusting the process.  I worked quite a bit on my little rug, and you are all so right.  It's a bit like magic...you keep going and suddenly, colors begin to work together, and stumbling beginnings become lovely pieces!  So...here it is so far:
I've been wanting to use that teal for a while.  I had it in the center, then took it out, but put it back in in a leaf.  It's funny, as I worked that lower leaf, I thought I'd outline in another teal texture, then just add some light green, but then suddenly, I thought I'd throw in some rose.  And it worked.

The arts are funny.  I've seen it in music, writing, and spinning--when you need to loosen up, the craft nails you with it!!  So, I look forward to a lovely week of hooking, dyeing wool, relaxing, and loosening up!

Have a wonderful weekend!!

New on the Frame

Here's my next rug project.  It is a lovely little doodle by Betty at primitivebettys.  I love her stuff!  They are so lighthearted.  She calls it "Symple Scissor".  I thought it would be good to work on to take my to a next level.
I've pulled some wool to begin:
Once again, the camera lies.  The light blue is really a darker teal color and the purple next to it is some of the brown I dyed the other day!  Oh well.

I spun and spun today.  I'll have some pictures of finished skeins tomorrow when they dry.  I went to the thrift store yesterday and scored a little applique kit.
It has some nice templates and a couple of patterns in it.  Not bad for a buck.

My little rug hooking group did fill and we'll start on Wednesday after school.  These templates could be very helpful for that class.  I'll keep you updated on what the kids can do.  One of my boys, who is a good little weaver, wants to barter me for either a skein of yarn or a small hooked mat for a woven wall hanging!  He's quite the fiber artist!

We had actual melting today, but I feel it was actually just messing with our psyches.
Have a lovely evening everyone!
