My background was created just a little different from my previous tag, although the results are almost identical. I embossed using Tim Holtz Pine Branch Texture Fade, applied gesso , inked in Evergreen Bough, and heat dried. I swiped on more gesso with my AARP card just over the raised areas and dried once more. I blended additional Evergreen Bough and wiped from the raised areas with a damp paper towel. I then blended Vintage Photo very lightly over the entire card and spritzed with water and dried again. I flicked on some watered down white acrylic paint with my new splatter brush I got in my last Funkie Junkie order. I have been coveting that brush for a very long time, and it's worth every penny!
I added a few snowflakes from Tim's Gilded Holidays Remnant Rubs I also got in my last Funkie Junkie order. I ordered these just so I could make card versions of my Christmas Greetings tag. These gold rub ons are a crafting bargain and so easy to use--they come in gold and silver foil and there are a gazillion vintage designs! I would have used one of the beautiful vintage greetings, but they wouldn't fit at the small flat area in the corner of my card. I am willing to bet they would have worked on the uneven surface, but time constraints made me too chicken to experiment. I resorted to again embossing with my Flonzcraft stamp as I did on my tag. I also heat embossed around the edges for a real vintage look. Some of you might know I collect Vintage Christmas cards, and they are a huge inspiration for that gold edge! Fortunately, Tim taught us how to use gilding foil to achieve this look with his November tag.
For my trees, I inked card with Evergreen Bough and Pine Needles and spritzed with Perfect Pearls in Heirloom Gold (another inspiration from Linda!). Once dried I cut my trees, and then touched up the trunks in Ground Expresso using a waterbrush, flicked on watered down white acrylic paint with that lovely brush and dried. I added Hickory Smoke to the back tree for perspective. I applied silver Liquid Pearls (NOT platinum--that was clogged! Durn!) to the branches. I later worked out the clog issue, but too late for this card. I love how Linda stacked up her trees on her tag, so I went with that idea, too. Love it!
If you happen to see little red flecks, it's because I unwrapped my new Festive Berries Distress glitter (purchased at a local craft store), and there was loose glitter under the shrink wrap which flew everywhere! I keep finding red flecks on everything!
