JAI 176 - Just Add Blokes

Hi all, just popping past to share a card that I made for this weeks Just Add Ink challenge, which is 'Just add blokes'. This was perfect timing, as it's Hubby's birthday and I needed a card :)

I went quite graphic and as he's a Port Power fan, I decided to use these colours. I actually printed the 'birthday' from MDS (how awesome is that program?!) And I dont know if you can see it, due to the picture being a bit too stark, grr, but I did emboss the white with the chevron EB folder. I was quite happy with the end result, and I think Hubby was too.

Thanks for looking

JAI #170 - Just Add Leaves

Hi, just wanted to quickly share this card I made for this weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink. We had to add leaves to our projects.

This is a very simple card, I cut out a bunch of leaves and stuck them to the back of my card and trimmed off any excess.

Pop past JAI to check out the design teams great creations.

Thanks for looking

Just Add Ink #169

Hi! Thought I'd pop by and share the card I made for this weeks challenge over at Just Add Ink. It's been ages since I have joined in, but I wanted to give this fantastic inspiration photo a try :)

I went rather simple and pulled my inspiration from the colours and the fact that they were at the beach, hence the birds. I paper pieced the birds in melon mambo, elegant eggplant and tempting turquoise.

Here's the fantastic photo:

Just Add Ink #134 - Polka Dots

Hi! I wanted to join in with Just Add Ink this week, as the challenge was to use polka dots. Now not sure about you, but polka dots are my 'go to' when it comes to patterns.
Here's my creation:

This is actually a spin off a tri fold card from Shelli. As soon as I saw her card, I knew I wanted to give it a go. I changed the shapes to the framelits labels and I used marina mist and rose red for my polka dot DSP, a so saffron which I dry embossed with the perfect polka dot EB folder. I framed my sentiment framelit with some silver glimmer paper, I added some silver pearls down one side and tied it all together with some pear pizzaz seam binding. I used crumb cake for my base and matted it onto some rose red. I was pretty happy with the end result, and will definitely make a few more of these in the future.

Thanks for looking :)

JAI #132 - Sketch Challenge

Hi there! It's been a while since I joined in at Just Add Ink, but they had a great sketch, which was perfect for a male birthday card which I needed quick.

Here's the sketch:

 And here's my creation:

I loved the clean lines of the sketch and kept this one pretty simple. I used some dsp from my stash and the tree is from 'funky four', the sentiment is from 'best Dad ever', like I said a nice simple card which I love for guys.

If you have time, go past Just Add Ink and check out all the design teams fantastic creations!

Thanks for looking :)

Just Add Ink #100

Hi! Over at Just Add Ink, they're celebrating their 100th birthday challenge and so this weeks theme is - 'Just add crowns'. I actually dont own any stamp sets which have crowns or anything to that nature, so I had to think outside the square and came up with this cute box:

I know that these boxes have been around for a while now and I finally had a chance to make one. The box uses the pillow box die, but for my 'crown' shape I cut off all the extra bits on top to get a unified look and cut the bottom straight. The colours I've used are rose red, certainly celery, so saffron and some scrap brown. I embossed the rose red base with the final press embossing folder. The hearts and 'princess' were all cut out using the timeless type alphabet. My Hubby surprised me for Christmas by buying this secretly and it's now my new best friend! You can get the tutorial for the box here
I am loving the end result and I cant think of any little girl who wouldn't love to get this!
Thanks for looking and have a great day!

JAI 96 - Jut Add Tania!

I'm pretty stoked that I've found time to once again join in on this weeks Just Add Ink challenge. And what a great one it is... Just add Tania Gould. I have been following Tania's blog for a while and I think all her creations are stunning. I knew I had seen a few of her cards show casing the beautiful "Elements of style" stamp set so headed straight there.

You can find the card which inspired me here. I did change a few things, but kept the overall feel very much the same. I used old olive as my base and very vanilla for my stamped panel. I used crumb cake stamped off a few times for my background stamping and coloured my flowers in rose red and so saffron  with my blender pen. The 'happy birthday' is from "vintage labels" and stamped in soft suede. I'm pretty sure my card is smaller than Tania's as I didn't have as much room for a sentiment. I distressed my edges with my scissors and added some cream twine. I was also inspired to make the inside pretty, as I never seem to normally and I think it completes the look.
So after all of that I hope you can pop past Just Add Ink and join in and thanks to Tania for all the beautiful inspiration!

JAI 95 - Bah Humbug

Oh boy, it's been a while since I have played along with Just Add Ink. I was determined to sit down and join in on their challenge, which was to create a Christmas project with no Christmas paper or stamp set except for a sentiment. I took the 'no Christmas paper' quite literally, as I also scrapped traditional Christmas colors all together.

I've used melon mambo, daffodil delight and tempting turquoise as my main colours and the trees are old olive and crumb cake. For the background I used "Bliss" stamp set and inked it in melon mambo and stamped using my stamp-a-ma-jig to get every thing looking straight. My trees are from "Trendy trees" and the sentiment is from "Best yet". I had a lot of fun creating this card, as the colours were so summery and kind of fitting for an Aussie Christmas (well I think so :)

Thanks for looking and pop past Just Add Ink to see all the other amazing creations!

Just Add Ink 86 - Sketch Challenge

Over at Just Add Ink they have a sketch for this weeks challenge. I must admit I struggled with this one, I looked at it from all different angles and nothing 'poped'. So, I decided to keep it as is and came up with this:

I'm still not too sure about it. I'm not one to use much bling and as you can see, there's a lot! I actually had a rhinestone flourish in my stash, and just cut it up and tucked it behind my circle until I was happy. The circle originally had no hearts around it, but it was looking a little bland, so I added the hearts from the owl builder and glued 2 mm rhinestones on every second heart. The cakes are coloured using my blender pen and I used my staz on for the sentiment, as I think it gives it a richer black. My main colours are marina mist, so saffron, certainly celery and rose red.

Heres the sketch:

Thanks for looking and have a great rest of the weekend!

Just Add Ink 85 - Just add baby

Hi again! This week at Just Add Ink the challenge is to "Just add baby". I loved this colour combo of pink and brown that I've seen on a few blogs (I'm not really a 'brown' person, so I don't normally use it) and I still am in love with easel cards. Heres what I came up with:

I've used soft suede, pink pirouette and certainly celery and I've add a lot of pearls! I sponged all the pink pirouette dsp in soft suede and added just a little bit of colour to the main image.
Hmmm, now I just need someone to have a baby girl - any takers?
Thanks for looking.

Just Add Ink 83 - Sketch Challenge

Hi! Recently I made a heap of these flowers and I thought that I'd pull one out for the sketch challenge at Just Add Ink.

The flower is made from scrunching and layering different sized scalloped circles. I found this great idea for adding a bit of bling to a silver brad from Connie Collins. All I did was cover a silver brad with some rhinestones, for an instant wow factor.

Heres the sketch we had to work with:

Hedgehog Happiness

Hi all! This week I knew I'd be short on time to create, so I combined Just Add Ink challenge of ripping and the sketch challenge at Inkspirations. Heres what I came up with:

How cute are those hedgehogs? I'm not sure if you can see in the picture, but I have machine stitched around the patterned paper and then just ripped/tore the paper to the stitch line. I'm not one to really tear or distress on my cards, but I think this still works. I'm also loving these colours at the moment. I picked up a "Vintage Elegance" by Grace Taylor from Big W, with the intention of doing more 'vintage' cards, as this is a style I don't do well. I've teamed it up with some soft suede and added buttons and seam binding from my stash. I really love how easy this card came together! It sometimes defiantly helps having a sketch as a starting point.

Thanks for looking and have a great day!

JAI 76 - Inspiration Challenge

Good morning! How great is the inspiration photo at Just Add Ink this week? It reminds me of some where nice and warm (some place where I'd rather be than always having frozen fingers and toes)
I took the photo quite literally in the lay out and colours. With the white rectangle building on the right, the little bit of curve (behind the white verse panel) was taken from the tiles, the plant cascading off the  building and the 'butterfly' as the cloud. My right hand corner looked a little empty, so I took the metal balcony as my guide and added some silver brads. I love that this photo allows us to interpret how ever we see fit - great challenge!

Hope you like it. I also wanted to say a big thank you to every one who leaves me a message. It's much appreciated and encouraging, thanks.
Have a great day and I'll be hoping for weather more like the one in the photo!

JAI 75 - Colour challenge

Here's my entry for JAI. I didn't think I would be able to re-create something with the correct colours (see previous post), but I managed to find time for a quick card (with the correct colours :) I like this version a little bit better.

JAI 74 - Fancy Folds

Good morning!
Here is my entry for JAI. I love that they gave us the challenge of a 'Fancy Fold's' card. I had a hard time choosing which fold I was going to use, but I have always loved easel cards and I never do enough of them. So here is my easel card.

I love how simple they are to make, yet I think they have such a WOW factor!
Thanks for looking and have a good day.

JAI 73 - Sketch Challenge

Here's my entry for Just add ink. Partly the reason why I took the plunge into creating my own blog, was to enter challenges. So here it is... my first challenge post.
I am really loving this stamp set at the moment. I love that all the circles co-ordinate with a punch, making for super quick cards.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.
