New Year, New Journal

Hi There! Thought I would share my first completed page in my new journal today. It's a Dylusions mini journal, although this page would work equally well in any A5 notebook or sketchbook

I began by adding random patches of magenta and ocean acrylic paint to a double page. I used some Dina Wakley paints that need using up, but Dylusions paints in Blue Hawaiian and Bubblegum pink would give a similar effect. Where the paints mix they are a fabulous purple colour. I purposefully left the top left corner colour free as a place to put the sentiment.
I taped the chrysanthemum 6x6 inkable in the bottom right corner and added black gesso through it with a stencil brush. I removed the inkable carefully and left the page to dry.
Next I added a stem to the chrysanthemum, using a black sharpie pen and painted the top left corner with white gesso. I extended this gesso very lightly across the pink and blue areas and left to dry.
Once the paint was completely dry I used wilted violet distress oxide through the circles D'inkable over the paler areas.
I used distress oxide inks to stamp some of the Doodle Art mandalas over the background.
whilst the stamping dried I stamped two of the sentiments from mixed messages #1 onto a scrap of thin card using versafine clair inks and cut them out
I added these to the page using matte medium and added a little texture paste through the small dots D'inkable.

Here is the finished page once more...
and here is a close up to show the stamping and texture.

I used:
Dylusions mini journal
White gesso
Distress oxide inks in Tumbled Glass. Salty Ocean, Shaded Lilac and Wilted violet
Versafine clair ink in Monarch and Fantasia

It was really lovely to just play in my journal and make a good start on this new one that has been lying here since I finished the previous one back in September. I will be live on the Bee Crafty facebook page tonight at 8pm. Hope you can join me!

Rainbow Bird Card

Hi there! thought I would show you how I made this quick and simple card today. I love the contrast between the kraft background and the dayglo bird.

I began by taping mandala inkable #5 to a blank 6x6" kraft card. I blended white ink through the mandala  then removed the inkable.
Using freehand borders #1 and brown versafine clair ink I added a border around the edge of the card.
Using the same ink, I stamped the leaves and square of crosses from Journaling Essentials #2 onto the base card.
I stamped one of the Doodle Art rainbow birds in Versafine Clair ink onto a scrap of mixed media card. Once this was dry, I painted the image using Dina Wakley gloss drops before cutting it out.
I stamped the sentiment onto a scrap of kraft card using brown ink and cut it out.
Finally I added both sentiment and bird to the front of the card.
I used:
6x6" Kraft card
Hero Arts Unicorn white ink
Versafine Clair ink in Pinecone and Nocturne
mixed media card

Exploring different ways of using Bee Crafty Mandala inkables

Hi There! I have been finding some different ways to use my mandala inkables over the past couple of weeks. I have used them with my coloured pencils (I will include a couple of photos at the end of this post) and now have used them with a black alcohol marker on a distress oxide background. This one was inspired by the birthday card I got from my friend Lynne. Here's how I made this card.

I began by sponging a rainbow of distress oxide across a 14x14cm of smooth card
Next I drew around the inkable Mandala 2 with a pencil, before colouring in using a black alcohol marker.
Once this was all thoroughly dry I went over the top using the Big one fern flourish inkable using Lost Shadow and Worn Lipstick distress oxide inks and dried off with a heat gun
I ran an anti static cloth over the whole thing then stamped the two circle stamps from Journal Art Elements 3 in versamark ink, heat embossing in gold.
On a piece of plastic I sprayed a little water and sprinkled with Apollo explosion powder and then dabbed it onto the background and left to dry.

On a separate piece of black card I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment from mixed messages 2 and cut the end to make a flag.
Finally I matted and layered the background onto a 7" square card, adding the sentiment on 3d foam pads.
I used:
Distress oxide inks in Fired brick, Wild Honey, Twisted Citron, Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet and Seedless Preserves, then Lost Shadow and Worn Lipstick.
Black Alcohol marker
Big ones inkable Fern Flourish
Versamark embossing ink
Black card, White card and 7" card blank

Here are a couple of photos of the mandalas I have coloured with pencil crayons too

There are all sorts of offers on the Bee Crafty Website at the moment as May is their 21st Birthday month, so definitely worth a good look!

Look at you Journal pages

Hi There! I've been having a play with my dylusions paints that I got recently and made this journal page in my mini Dylusions Journal. Here's what I did:

I began by painting the page with Bubblegum Pink and Laidback Lilac Dylusions paint.
Once this was dry, I used a white scribble stick through the 4" easy frame heart to add two hearts.
Next I drew several hearts using the posca pen and the Hearts 6x6 inkable around the edges of the page.
I used black soot distress oxide and the texture disc to add some darker areas to the page.
Next, I stamped some of the texture borders around the page and added some lines in black pen around the larger hearts.
Whilst the ink dried, I cut out two of the faces from the faces #4 transparencies and added white posca pen to the eyes. I used matte medium to attach these and a sentiment from the wordy stickers to my background, and finished with a splatter of white Dina Wakely gloss spray.
Here is the finished page again.
I used:
Dylusions paint in Laidback Lilac and Bubblegum Pink

Somehow this reminds me of 80s discos. I think she might turn him down though 😂

Layers of ink Bee Card

Hi there! I have been busy making samples for the relaunch of Bee Crafty's Bee Monarchy stamp set on Tuesday. I thought I would whet your appetite with a sneaky peek step by step.

I began by putting masking tape around a 5x5" square ivory card. As you can see I overlapped the edge by about 3mm to give a slightly narrower border.
I blended distress ink in Wild Honey and Tea Dye over the centre, making it a shade darker at the edge
Next I used the Honeycombe full inkable to add a little stencilling top left and bottom right.
I inked up the crackle background stamp with vintage photo distress ink and stamped it lightly over the card
Using Versafine Clair black ink I stamped the largest bee in the middle of the card.
I used Ecolines to colour it in.
I stamped a few of the honeycomb stamps from the Bee monarchy set in wild honey ink before removing the tape and stamping the sentiment from the small words set. I also added a tiny bit of white pen to the eyes and tail of the bee.
Here is the finished card again.
I used:
5x5" ivory card blank
Masking tape or Stamp and Stencil tape
Distress inks in Wild Honey, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo
Bee Monarchy stamp set (it will be there on Tuesday!)

The re-launch of this fantastic set of stamps will be over on the Bee Crafty Facebook page from 10am on Tuesday. There will be lives and lots more! See you there!

Robin and Wreath samples

Hi There! I am here with the cards I made for the Bee Crafty Stamp launch that was on Facebook on Tuesday. We had a fantastic day with lives, offers and giveaways. This first card was made with the smaller stamps from both the Robins and the Wreath set
This was the card I made during my live which you can find here. I also used one of the Bauble Easy frames and the snowflake mask inkable
This one was embossed in gold, then masked before adding smooshed distress oxide ink.
This background was created by blending broken China distress ink through a mandala inkable and then stamped with snowflakes from the Winter journaling girls sets.
Another using the easy frame bauble inkables,
and a vintage looking wreath with the script background stamp in antique linen distress ink.
Finally, here's the card from my blog post last week again. I did a second facebook live on Wednesday, this time creating a journal page using Distress Oxide sprays and the Doodle Art Houses. You can find the live here
We will be doing some similar journaling to this at my workshop this Wednesday at PDA card and Craft, Langley Mill. There are still a couple of spaces if you fancy it and you are local! Thanks for looking!
