Little Snippets of Life - Instagram

Having my iPhone (which has become my go to camera) with me all the time has really taught me to focus on the little things. I love capturing the little snippets in life that happen day to day. I am so happy that things like Instagram, various different apps, and my iPhone help me grab these moments so easily. Now, I look for the details that I may have overlooked in the past and that tickles my heart. Here are some little pieces of my life lately...

A wood palette shelf to be stained, an Easter dress detail, yummy cookies baked by hubby with the kids, a basket of washi, the GOR-geous sky as we left Easter dinner, spring break play, one of the VERY loud frogs in our garden, decorated eggs, and a bike ride in the park - all the sweet, blessed moments granted to this very lucky lady.

All this good stuff helps me to remain present
To BE here.
Right now.
Ever thankful that God has given me another day.

Artsy Insta Friday

Even when I can't write a full blog post (where does my time go?), it is always fun to capture little bits of creativity with Instagram. Are you on Instagram? (If you are, let me know in the comments so I can come find you!) Not only do I love sharing what I am up to, but I LOVE seeing all the artsy goodness from the wonderful people I follow. So much loveliness - crafters, scrapbookers, artists, Project Lifers, home bloggers, mommies, and friends. It is a super fun and shall I say a wee bit addicting. :) I guess there are things more terrible than Instagram to be addicted to! Here are a few "artsy Instas" from my world lately ...

Playing with the idea of feathers and little whimsy characters. She says, "being brave is not always easy."
Portrait on a wood block. Inspired by yellow and gray. Post coming soon.

LOVING my new Faber-Castell Gelatos. I only have 4 colors and want more!

Working on a journal page

Creating little goodies at a Stampin' Up! party.  SO fun!

A bright journal page WIP

I had to throw this one in of my dog. We joke that she is a chihuahua trapped in a Golden Retriever's body. She does not realize how big she is! She wants to be a lap dog. :)

I hope you have a wonderful, love filled weekend!

Insta-Thankful

There is so much to be thankful for this week. Family, friends, love, shelter, warm blankets, laughter, art, beautiful mornings, smiles, healthy children, freedoms...I could go on for days. After the devastation of Hurricane Sandy and the pain around the globe, I don't want to take anything for granted.

I am so thankful that I have been able to grab little snippets of life throughout this last year on my iPhone with Instagram. Once the year is over, I hope to make some digital photo books. That way my family can easily look back over all the sweet moments and blessings we have had this year. Can't wait to put them all together. I may need a few volumes though. :)
Here are some favorites lately...

Getting ready to use some new watercolor pencils that I found on clearance. Sweet!

Yes! The boots have come out. Fall, I love you!

Strolling along the aisles of Michaels with my FREE Starbucks coffee. They gave it to me for free because I had a long wait. Noooo problem!

Our adorable entourage after feeding them some good bread.

Election Night 2012 - My little man doing his part. :)

I never want the "hand-in hand" to end! Ever!

 Master carving by the Hubs!

My little Christmas painting on the shelves at Urban Barn. :)

Let the Christmas movies begin...snuggling with my daughter
watching the Grinch.

I hope your week has had a beautiful beginning!
Any fun holiday plans?

Melting into Fall & Some News

Happy October!

Can you believe it is here already?
I can't...really.

Fall pumpkin tutorial right here.

Just this morning - I was doing the Autumn happy dance, dreaming of boots, smiling at my pumpkins, the smell of cinnamon tickling my nose, pumpkin spice latte in hand...
then I stepped outside (in flip flops).
I literally had to grab the door for support. I thought I might melt right there. Seriously, puddle up right there on my porch from the heat. I know summer in southern California can linger well into September... but, I need summer to pack her bags and head out. I need cool, dreamy fall weather. :)

Well, with Fall excitement in the air I am painting up a storm. I am trying to find any little bit of available time I can to get into my art studio and work. I am painting like a mad woman. :) The super exciting news is that I have decided to have a Re-Grand Opening of my ETSY shop. YIIIPPEE!! MY little shop has been so neglected that I decided to pour some heart and soul into it. I am working hard on new items and beyond excited to share them with you. Soooo...

Come visit Sadie Lane Studio's Etsy Shop
on Monday October 22nd!!!
(and visit me here on the blog too for a special reader coupon! Yay!!)

Super excited!

Instagram of a new journal page. Post coming tomorrow! Find me @sadieinspired

Sometimes you just have to get out there and take steps toward those dreams. Even if the steps are baby steps...it all counts!
Where are you dreams taking you today? Do tell!!

Dream Big! :)

Insta-Love Thursday

Oh, how I love Instagram.

It has been such a fun, quick way for me to grab some cute pics day to day.
I also LOVE photography blogs. Sooooo, when I saw Deb's (LOVE her blog!! Great inspiration for Project Life too.) series called This or That Thursday, I decided to join in. I LOVE sharing my Insta pics, (I know some of you have seen them! Thank you for following me on Instagram!!) so I was thinking this would be a fabulous way to share my little bits of photography on my blog. :)

Here are some of my favorites lately...

School started this week (goodbye lazy days of summer...sigh) so I couldn't help snapping away on my little Sugarbean's first day of second grade. I did whip out my big camera too, of course. But, here are some I captured with my phone. Um, in all seriousness...how stinkin' cute is that superhero drawing.

Some art, some gorgeous sky on a bike ride, one very cute little boy playing on the porch, and a sweet treat on a hot day. :)

Insta Love

I have had a hard time getting to the computer this week to post.
It has been full on summer mode in our house - which I love!
So I thought I would share some Instagram love from this week... beach time, date days, hometown visits, pool days with great friends, sprinklers & water balloons, and lots & lots of ice cream! : )

Here are a few favorites....

Date night with the cutest boy ever, reading new magazines...so much inspiration!

A day at the beach. I grew up at the beach, so it always feels like a little bit of "home" to me. :)

The kids went to Grandma and Grandpa's to spend the night with their cousin, so we had the day to ourselves. We hit my hometown...and spent the day playing, eating (yummy build your own veggie burger), relaxing, movie watching, and just plain ol' fun!

Water balloon fights with lots of little girls and screaming. :)

...and the cutest summer toes ever!!

I hope you are having a wonderful week!

XOXO,

Painting Minis

I have another 4x4 mini canvas done.
It is just the cutest little thing. Seriously, the size is just adorable.
I am completely obsessed with blue, so this mini darling makes me happy.
I think I will list her (Do you give your paintings a gender?? LOL)
in my neglected shop tomorrow.
(Note to self : get with it and update the studio store for goodness sakes!)

I created the yummy texture by using modeling paste and a doily.
I love the tiny flowers. Too cute.

The other day I also found a package of 5 coasters made out of MDF that I thought would make more fantastic little canvases. As you can see from my pictures,
I have another mild obsession with rounded edges.
These coasters have rounded corners! LOVE.
Even better - 5 for $1...sweeeeeet! :)

I am not sure what I will do with them, but they are fun to work on.

Come join me on Instagram @sadieinspired.
Hope you are having an inspired week!

Enough

No art today.
Just a reminder that you are enough.
You are.
Just the way you are.
Even on those days when you don't think you good enough,
or you can't take much more, or when your dreams seem to far out of reach,
or your energy has been zapped...
You are enough.

XOXO,

Mind. Body. Soul - Believe

I have really loved art journaling lately. Like I have said before, it is such a wonderful place to play, experiment, get all the "icky" out, celebrate, and relax. The great thing too is there are so many wonderful places to share the art journaling journey too.

Today I am sharing the first page I did for Leslie's Mind. Body. Soul. free e-course. (It is also the first page in my new Strathmore Visual Journal and I am way impressed!) Each week there is a word to focus on and lots of other words of wisdom. I am "behind", but I have learned that I tend to work at a slower pace in all my courses & challenges. I am OK with that! I have a plan. :)
I will catch up!

This journal is pretty big. It is 9x12, which I really enjoyed working in! I wasn't sure if I would. For me, this journal is a lot better than the Canson XL that I used before. That journal was spiral too, but it was perforated to make it easier to rip out. However, if you want the page to stay put all the wet media caused several pages to come apart.
I just used tape to reinforce it.
I like that I don't have to do that in this one. :)

I am off to go work on the next week - REACH!
:)
Here it is intensified and Instagram-ed!

 Yes! You!

Journals and Insta-Love

I am so close to finishing my art journal. (Happy Dance!)
Truth be told, I like to work in a few different art journals at once.
Some I make from odds & ends, scraps of paper, and things headed to the recycle bin. I also buy some of the journals from Michaels or Dick Blick.

But, my "main" journal has been an XL Canson Mixed Media that I bought last summer to start during Kristin's (LOVE!) Summer of Color. (Who by the way is continuing again this summer with Summer of Color 2! You must join along. It is a fabulous way to gain inspiration and more creative connections. SO much fun!) I am only a few pages away from completing it. Yeah! I have a 9x12 Strathmore Visual Journal waiting in the wings to take over. :)

Also, as you can see I have taken the Instagram dive. Like I need one more thing to distract me. Lol. But, really who wants to scrub showers and do laundry anyways. Let me sit and ponder photo filters instead. I ADORE taking pictures so this is right up my alley. Plus, I am attempting Project Life (Oh, yes...yes I am.) this year & these little pictures make my heart skip a beat. :)

A picture of my dog - just because.
I hope you are having a fabulous week. It is a GOR-geous day today, and I am looking forward to my daughter's Open House at school tonight. My poor little baby had to miss school yesterday (Um, this future President bursts into tears at the thought of missing school...she loves it so much!) and was panic stricken when she thought she may have to miss Open House. So thankfully she is well and we are ready to celebrate  her.
