Big Clearance

This afternoon I made a trip to my local Hobby Lobby and was thrilled to find Copic 3-pack sketch markers on clearance. Supplies were limited on the markers so I didn't hesitate to make a purchase. The store had a big clearance section filled with crafting supplies including a lot of wood mounted stamps. If you live close to a Hobby Lobby and use Copic markers it might be worth stopping by.

Blue pack includes: B01, B04 and B06
Pink pack includes: RV000, RV52 and RV55

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!!!

From Messy to Clean!

You might say I have a split personality when it comes to cleaning. At work everything has to be in it's place and I like my desk to stay clean and organized. It's a completely different story when it involves my craft desk. Well, today I decided I couldn't make one more card until I had organized my messy desk. To motivate the cleaning process I took before and after pictures to share with you. This is my desk where all my creativity happens. Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific day!

Greetings Stamp Set

If you are just starting to make cards, you may wonder where to start. It takes time to build up your supplies and you can easily spend a lot of money when you first get started.  So, I thought I would share with you my go-to sentiment stamp set that can help stretch your crafting budget.  The Greetings Clear Stamp set by TPC Studios (ST93416) is an excellent basic sentiment set. Since it's a clear stamp set you want to make sure you purchase the clear acrylic blocks.  Using clear stamps and blocks gives you the ability to align the position of your stamps easily.  To use simply remove the stamp from the protective backing and position onto your clear block, then ink and stamp.  You can use baby wipes or cleaning spray to clean the stamp and then return it to the protective backing.  Clear stamps are easy to store and require less space than the wood block stamps.

I purchased my Greetings Stamp set at Hobby Lobby.  If you have a Hobby Lobby nearby the stamp sets are on sale this week 40% off.  Just in case you find something that's not on sale I've included a link to their weekly 40% off coupon, this coupon expires Aug. 4th.  I hope you found this helpful and have a happy and crafty day!

Update: I was shopping at Hobby Lobby on Friday, Aug. 3, 2012 and I found this stamp set on clearance. It may not be around much longer. However, I've also seen it in stock at Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft stores.

50% Off Spare•Parts

It's time for find a deal Monday.  Today I found a great deal on Spare•Parts by Paper Studio.  The advertised special at Hobby Lobby is 50% off all Spare•Parts.  I decided to stock up on decorative brads and paper flowers.  Retail price of the large brad assortments and paper flowers are $4.99 (50% makes them $2.495 each).  The spring epoxy brads are $3.99 ($1.995) and the flower brads $2.99 ($1.495).  My Spare•Parts total today was $15.965 before tax.  Don't forget to take along the 40% coupon to use on an item of your choice.  This is how I purchase my Copic markers.  The advertised sale is good through March 31, 2012.

Where to Buy Supplies

Where to buy supplies for your card making and crafting hobbies?  Access to scrapbooking and crafting stores vary greatly depending on your geographical location.  I live in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area and we have several options to choose from.  Here are my favorite retailers for card making and crafting supplies:
  • Sooner Scrapbooks, my friend owns the store.  Tell her Andrea sent you.
  • Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store
  • Michaels
  • Hobby Lobby
If you don't have access to these retailers you can also find some supplies at big box retailers like Target and Wal-Mart.  If you really want to have fun and you like to shop online you can find endless places to buy supplies.  A few of my favorite online sources include:
Personal preference and style will influence what retailers and manufacturers you like.  Sometimes if I can't find what I'm looking for I will check www.ebay.com, and you will be surprised what you can find.  Just have fun!

Getting Started

Making cards was a progression from my scrapbooking hobby.  One day I needed a card and I had a ton of beautiful paper, stickers, and supplies laying on my craft table and I decided I would make the card I needed.  I then enrolled in a couple of card making classes to learn some new techniques and have been hooked making cards since.  Tomorrow I will have a basic design for you to start with.  Getting started you will need the following supplies:
  • Cardstock or blank ready made cards
  • Paper trimmers
  • Tape runner adhesive
  • Decorative paper
  • Your favorite rubber stamp
  • Ink pad
  • Small flower punch
  • Rhinestones and butterfly sticker
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and excitement for card making with you.
