Food Friends Card - TMS #647

Hello! This week at Tuesday Morning Sketches we have a fun sketch where you can make your own scene. Some of my favorite cards are scene cards. Although I do have to admit, once I make them I have a hard time parting with them. For that reason I prefer simple scenes when I'm creating a card. So, whether you like simple or elaborate scenes, we would love for you to join us this week. For all the challenge details and design team inspiration click HERE. I hope to see your creation in the gallery!

To create this Food Friends Card I used a stamp set by Newton's Nook called Woodland Picnic. Once the images were stamped they were colored with Copic markers and then die cut with the coordinating dies. The patterned papers are from the Summer Lovin' paper pad by Carta Bella (2014). Some die cut grass and sun were included in the scene and everything was adhered flat. That's it! I'm entering this Food Friends Card into the Food and Drink challenge at Make My Monday. So glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

Better with Sprinkles Card

Good day! I have a quick post to share this Better with Sprinkles Card that I made using the sketch from the Inky Paws challenge. The Newton's Donut image goes perfectly with the new Pumpkin Spice paper pad by Doodlebug Design Inc. Copic markers were used to color the image and the coordinating die was used to cut it out. I left the cat mainly white with a little Brick White detail and everything was adhered flat. This was a pretty easy card. I'm also entering this card into the anything goes challenge at Cute Card Thursday. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Frankly Awesome Card

Hello! I have a quick post to share a card I made for a local hot dog restaurant my hubby and I like to visit. We go about once a month and they are always really friendly, so I used the Frank the Fun Dog stamp set by Unity Stamps to make this Frankly Awesome Card. The image was colored with Copic markers and then fussy-cut. A mix of hot dog inspired colors were used and I heat embossed the sentiment. To add a little sparkle three light blue sequins were added. That's it. I'm glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

The sun was bright when I took the photo of this card and the colors don't look great. It looked better in person!

Life's a Picnic Card

Happy Friday! Although I'm counting down the days until fall arrives, I couldn't resist using the Newton's Picnic stamp to create this Life's a Picnic Card. The layout is from the Inky Paws sketch challenge that ends today. All images were stamped with Memento black ink and colored with Copic markers. The coordinating dies were used to cut out the images. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping and a small white twine bow was added for detail. I'm glad you stopped by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Newton Ice Cream Card

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream! A part of me does believe Ice Cream solves everything or at least it should. Anyway... I'm being silly, I guess that's what happens when I'm sleep deprived. We have a cat that's been waking us up at 4 am and it's starting to make me crazy. So, after several cups of coffee I made this Newton Ice Cream Card for the Bright and Cheerful challenge at Simon Says Stamp using the colors from Coloring in Scrapland's photo inspiration (see below). The image is from the Newton's Summer Treats stamp set by Newton's Nook and it was colored with Copic markers. All patterned papers are from the Summer Days paper pad by Echo Park (2010). I got a little creative with the layout and I really like how it turned out. To finish the card three sequins were added for sparkle and everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. That's it! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day. 😊

Newton's Donut Card

Hello! Today was spent doing laundry and running errands. Trying to play catch-up after working yesterday. However, I did manage to make this Newton's Donut Card using the sketch from the current Inky Paws challenge. This is the first time I've used the Newton's Donut image and coordinating die by Newton's Nook. The patterned papers are from the Cream & Sugar paper pad by Doodlebug Design Inc. with the exception of the yellow polka dots by Stampin' Up!. Copic markers were used to color the image and it was adhered with stampin' dimensionals. Three heart sequins and twine finish the card. That's it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day.

Newton's Ice Cream Card

This week I was really excited to receive my recent Newton's Nook order! The new Newton's Summer Treats stamp set is super cute! When I was growing up I remember my mom would eat ice cream almost every night. I'm pretty sure her motto is "ice cream solves everything," so when I saw this set I knew it would be perfect for numerous cards. This Newton's Ice Cream Card was created using the sketch challenge at Inky Paws. I was definitely feeling a sherbet vibe with the colors selected. All patterned paper are from the Sugar & Spice paper pad by Doodlebug Designs. Some Lemon Ice Stickles was added to the strip of yellow paper for some sparkle. Copic markers were used to color the image and I colored the kitty to look like my first house cat. That's it, no other embellishments were added and everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. Thanks for stopping by and may the rest of your day be wonderful!

Hot Dog Birthday Card

The month of May is busy with birthdays in my family. It all starts this weekend with my dad's birthday. I wanted his card to be different from previous years. So when I found this stamp set called Frank the Fun Dog by Unity Stamps I ordered it. This Hot Dog Birthday Card is what I made for my him. Copic markers were used to color the image and then it was fussy cut. Once I had the layout arranged and the hot dog placed, I decided he needed a party hat. Luckily, I found one in a stamp set from Newton's Nook that was the perfect size. Three sequins were the final touch and this card was done.

Yummy Cheeseburger Card

Last Saturday my hubby and I met my parents in Stillwater, Oklahoma at Eskimo Joe's for some burgers. My parents picked up the check so I made them this Yummy Cheeseburger Card. The inside was stamped with a Thank You sentiment along with a handwritten message. The burger image is by Doodle Pantry and I used the pre-colored version. I kept the layout simple and only added a few sequins for embellishment to keep it easy to mail. Pretty simple! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Thanksgiving Blessings Card

Thanks for stopping by! Today is the start of a new challenge at Cardz 4 Guyz. This week we would like to see food or drink featured on your card. Since I still needed one more Thanksgiving card, I decided to use the Thanksgiving Corn Mouse by Meljen's Designs. The image was colored with Copic markers and then cut into a 3" circle. The circle was then layered onto a Spellbinders scalloped die cut from Early Espresso cardstock . Then I decided to cut into my hoarded stash of retired Stampin' Up! patterned paper from one of my all-time favorite collections, Orchard Harvest dsp. The sentiment is from AAW PrintWorks Collection and was stamped in Early Espresso ink. The last detail was adding the gold glitter leaf brad and that finished my Thanksgiving cards for this year. This card is already in the mail and headed to one of my relatives to arrive just in time for Thanksgiving. I hope they like it!

Coconut Bon Bons

One of my favorite Christmas candies growing up was Coconut Bon Bons. The last several years nobody in my family made them.  So, I decided to make them.  The recipe is super simple but it does take some time to dip the bon bons in chocolate. They turned out really good and my dad and brother both were happy I made them. Here is my family recipe and I hope if you try them you'll love them as much as we do.

Coconut Bon Bons Recipe:
  • 1 Stick Butter
  • 1 Can Eagle Brand Milk
  • 2 Pounds Powdered Sugar
  • 3/4 - 1 Cup Coconut
  • 3/4 - 1 1/2 Cups Chopped Pecans
  • 2 tsp. Vanilla
Melt butter, mix in Eagle Brand milk, add vanilla, then add all remaining ingredients, mix well. Roll into bit size balls and chill at least one hour. Dip bon bons into your favorite dipping chocolate. I used Ghirardelli chips, mix 2 TBSP shortening with every 2 Cups of chocolate chips.

Cranberry Bliss Bars

Good Afternoon! Right now it is all about the food and baking. I was up until 3:00 AM last night making Cranberry Bliss Bars and Coconut Bon Bons. Our family is starting our Christmas this weekend. It's nice to spread it out to eliminate the rushed feeling. I'm happy to say all my shopping is done and presents wrapped so now it's all about visiting and enjoying time with family. Here is a link for the Cranberry Bliss Bars recipe, the only adjustment I made was I added 1/8 tsp. of ground ginger to the bar batter. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

Something Sweet

Hello Friends! This time of year it can be hard for me to find time to create a card. Yesterday my project was something sweet for my coworkers. I made these decorated pretzel rods. I used a Wilton mold for the trees which proved to be more challenging than expected, but they turned out okay for my first attempt. I wasn't sure how the Wilton vanilla flavored green chips would taste, but they are really good. They melted really smooth and have a nice flavor. When I placed the decorated pretzels in the bag, something just didn't look finished. So, I stamped Merry Christmas and used my EK Success Real Estate punch to make a tag. It was nice to see the smiles on my coworkers faces when I handed them their something sweet. Thanks for stopping my my blog and have a wonderful day!
