Coffee Making me Awesome Card

This COFFEE is making me AWESOME!!! In some ways this sentiment defines me, I'm like the little mouse until the coffee kicks in. Another thought...Wheaties may be the breakfast of champions but I bet if you follow it with a few cups of coffee... you would be unstoppable.

There is still a couple of days left to join the fun with the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. This is my second card for the hop and I used the challenge colours at ColourQ to make this card. The colours include: Early Espresso, Kraft, Tangerine Tango, Tempting Turquoise and White. The image is called Colby's Caffeine by Whipper Snapper Designs, Inc. It was stamped onto several pieces of paper and paper pieced together. Warm Gray Copic markers were used to colour the mouse. The sentiment is also by Whipper Snapper Designs, Inc and was stamped with Memento black ink. Due to the large size of the image I kept the layout simple and added three brown sequins for sparkle. That's it!

Watercolor Wings Card

There is nothing like inking up a new stamp set, especially one with beautiful butterflies!!! Every card I've seen using the Watercolor Wings stamp set added to my excitement about this set. There are so many different color combinations to play with and my Watercolor Wings Card is using colors from this weeks ColourQ #296 challenge. Colours include: Night of Navy, Marina Mist, Soft Sky, Daffodil Delight and Whisper White. The layout comes from this weeks sketch challenge at Sunday Stamps. Once I had everything stamped I decided the Soft Sky chevron paper looked too clean. I decided to use the Dot Fade stencil by Tim Holtz with Daffodil Delight ink and play along in the stenciling challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. The final addition was the twine and three silver sequins. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Watercolor Wings Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper White and Night of Navy cardstock. Retired Soft Sky designer series paper.
  • Stamps: Watercolor Wings and Watercolor Wash.
  • Inks: Stampin' pads in Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky, Night of Navy and Marina Mist along with Memento Black.
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies, Dot Fade stencil by Tim Holtz, sponge dauber, silver sequins, twine from The Twinery and stampin' dimensionals.

Text Bird Hello Card

Happy Saturday! Earlier this week I viewed the challenge at ColourQ and knew I wanted to play along but it took me awhile to figure out my design. Finally, I decided a Hello Honey coloured Text Bird would work. The text bird stamp is by Hero Arts and is quite large at 3.25" from tail to beak, therefore I made the card 5.25" square to accommodate the stamp. I dug deep into my stash for some buried patterned papers to work with the challenge colours. The Gumball Green is from the Print Poetry paper stack by Stampin' Up! and the Poppy coloured paper is from the Vegetable Garden collection by Basic Grey. The Flower Shop stamp was used with VersaMark and clear embossing powder to show the flower detail in a monochromatic tone. To add some detail I cut three leaves with my Cricut machine and the Straight from the Nest cartridge. I added some white by the yard net ribbon to break up the colours and the Hello sentiment is from TPC Studios. That's it! I would also like to enter this card into the Sister Act Anything Goes Card Challenge. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Cheerful Good Thoughts Card

Hooray for Friday! I hope you had a wonderful week. When I was working full-time it made it hard to spend time in my craft room and participate in challenges. Now that I've reduced my schedule I have more free time to play! It's been awhile since I played along at Mojo Monday and ColourQ, so I combined the two to create this Cheerful Good Thoughts Card. The sketches at Mojo Monday usually include lots of layers to use my patterned papers, and I love patterned paper. Adding lots of layers makes this card eligible for the layers challenge at Brown Sugar.

All supplies for this card are by Stampin' Up!. The supply list includes:
  • Paper: Whisper White, Calypso Coral, Blushing Bride and Coastal Cabana cardstock. Patterned paper from retired Fresh Prints paper stack, Best Year Ever dsp, and Subtles designer paper stack and retired 2010-2012 paper stack.
  • Stamps: Perfect Pennants and Geometrical.
  • Inks: Calypso Coral and Coastal Cabana.
  • Other Stuff: Triangle punch, hexagon punch and stampin' dimensionals.

So, last night I started this Coral Bloom for You Card and I finished it up this morning. The challenges selected were Tuesday Morning Sketches and ColourQ. Colour and sketch challenges are two of my favorites and I really enjoyed playing around in my craft room.

Colourful Feel Better Card

Given the choice between housework and making a card, I seem to always choose to make a card. Although I will have to do a couple of chores later, I indulged myself with some creative procrastination and made this Colourful Feel Better Card. The colours were inspired by this weeks beautiful ColourQ Challenge. I used the sketch challenge at Tuesday Morning Sketches for my layout and selected the Feel Better sentiment to play along at Addicted to Stamps. I played around with the colours a lot before I decided on what you see. There were so many terrific options, it made it hard to narrow down. I decided to use bling instead of a stamped leaf to add some sparkle to the design. In the end I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Colourful Feel Better Card Supplies*:

  • Paper: Night of Navy, Whisper White and Lucky Limeade cardstock. Patterned paper from Ivy Lane collection by Close to my Heart.
  • Stamps: Bloom for You stamp and Sassy Salutations stamp set.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pads in Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Lucky Limeade and Night of Navy.
  • Other Stuff: Spellbinders scalloped oval die, Decorative Dots embossing folder, Fun Flower punch, decorative rhinestones by Recollections, paper snips and dimensionals.
*All supplies by Stampin' Up! unless noted.

Good Thoughts Emerging Color Card

Do you ever have one of those days where you just stare at your project and don't know where to start? That was me today! I selected three challenges to create this Good Thoughts Emerging Color Card. A sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge, colours from ColourQ and a Flower challenge from Stampotique Designers. I think my biggest problem was I didn't have any patterned paper that pulled the colors together. So, after a lot of staring at my project I finally decided to play around with the Emerging Color Technique, click link to view tutorial from Splitcoaststampers.

I'm sure there are many different variations on the Emerging Color Technique. Here are directions for my card: Cut white piece of cardstock to desired size, sponge on the colors you want to use. I used Soft Sky and Wisteria Wonder. Make sure ink is dry and dust over the cardstock with your embossing buddy. Using VersaMark ink and your selected stamp (Petite Petals), randomly stamp onto the cardstock. Apply your clear embossing powder, shake off excess and heat emboss. With you darkest color ink sponge all over your cardstock piece. Rub embossed areas with paper towel to remove surface ink. Repeat process if needed to darken your inked area.

The Wisteria Wonder doesn't really pop with the Rich Razzleberry using this technique but I still think it looks nice. This process is a little messy but it's a lot of fun. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Little Bird Thinking of You Card

Happy Thursday! My afternoon is full of errands to do but first, I wanted to share my latest card. This Little Bird Thinking of You Card was inspired by the colour challenge at ColourQ. The card is more casual than I normally do but I love the embossing and didn't want to cover up the pretty details. All of the supplies are from Stampin' Up! except the embossing folder called Birds and Swirls by Cuttlebug. Here is the list of Stampin' Up! supplies: Early Espresso, Island Indigo, Summer Starfruit, Tempting Turquoise and Whisper White cardstock. For the Birds and Bordering Blooms Stamp sets. Classic stampin' pads in Early Espresso, Island Indigo and Tempting Turquoise. Punches: 2" circle, 2 3/8" scallop circle and a discontinued border punch. I used a blender pen to colour in the nest and little bird. The final touch is the Early Espresso twine and I used dimensionals to adhere the focal image.

I hope you like it! Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Circles Thank You Card

Good afternoon! I have a quick post to share my newest card. This Circles Thank You Card was made using the colours from the current challenge at ColourQ. The only problem was I didn't have stamp pads that even closely resembled Concord Grape or Pretty in Pink. For that reason I decided to play with patterned paper. The layout comes from the sketch challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday.  I ended up with what I think is a fun card and the only thing stamped was the sentiment. All patterned paper and Sassy Salutations Thank You sentiment is from Stampin' Up!. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Announcement and a Card

Hello to all my crafty blogging friends! I have an exciting announcement to share with you today. For the next three months I will be a Guest Designer for the Paper Players!!! I must admit I was shocked and honored to be asked to create alongside the very talented design team at the Paper Players. My term starts on July 6th through September and I can't wait to get started. I hope you will stop by on July 6th and play along with my first challenge.

Now, onto the card! It's been awhile since I played along at ColourQ but this weeks colours and inspiration photo stayed with me. I used the discontinued Secret Garden framelits to create the floral die cuts in the embossed Island Indigo panel. Then I adhered the solid colored cardstock to the back and then layered to the scalloped border panel. I added the center punch detail to the flowers, rhinestone basic jewels and then used dazzling details on the flowers to add sparkle. Unfortunately, the photo didn't capture the beauty of the sparkle. It looks much better in person. The sentiment is from the Too Kind stamp set and was stamped with Island Indigo ink. To finish the card I punched the sentiment with a 1 3/8" circle punch and layered with a Real Red 1 3/4" scalloped circle punch. Then I popped it up with dimensionals and this card was done. All supplies are by Stampin' Up! Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Patchwork Hello Card

Hooray for Friday! If you've been following my blog for long, then you know I love color challenges. Last night I made this Patchwork Hello Card using the colors from this weeks ColourQ challenge. The colors are:
  • Island Indigo
  • Bermuda Bay

I taped the squares together and backed them with a piece of white card stock. Then I stitched everything together for a patchwork look. I used the Lacy & Lovely stamp set for the focal image and sentiment. The finished size is 5" x 5". Thanks for stopping by and have a fantastic day!

Blossom Birthday Card

A few of my favorite crafting tools were used to create this Blossom Birthday Card. They are:
All the supplies listed are from Stampin' Up! and I would definitely call them my go-to tools for beautiful handmade cards. I created this Blossom Birthday Card using this weeks sketch from The Paper Players. The sketch was designed by Anne Marie Hile and I love it's versatility. I know I'll be using this sketch again. The colours came from this weeks ColourQ challenge to use: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Always Artichoke, Lucky Limeade, and White, card stock colours by Stampin' Up!. I can honestly say before this challenge I had never used Always Artichoke, but after using it, I really like it. The inside of the card is decorated and stamped with "Have a Great Birthday." I don't always decorate the inside of my cards but this one seemed to need it. I hope you have a FABulous day and thanks for stopping by!!!

Floral Encouragement Card

Good afternoon! It's been awhile since I've played along with a ColourQ challenge but when I saw the colours this week, I knew I had to participate. I'm not really a fan of pink, but I really like a pink and brown colour scheme. The layout for this Floral Encouragement Card comes from Tuesday Morning Sketches and it was designed by Laura Nehring. I love the way the sketch is laid out, it has a wonderful main focal point and just enough detail without becoming fussy. You might notice I've sanded my embossed panel again. I'm really into sanding right now! I LOVE the way it enhances the embossing. The flower was stamped using the rock-n-roll method. If you look closely you can tell the tips of the flowers are darker than the center. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy your day!

Boho Blossoms Thank You Card

Good evening! Tonight I've been busy in the kitchen making pumpkin muffins and oatmeal cookies for tomorrow. While I was waiting on everything to bake I made this Boho Blossoms Thank You Card. I used the colours from this weeks ColourQ challenge and the theme from Sweet Stamps blog for this simple design. To create the center panel I punched opposite corners with the boho blossoms punch by Stampin' Up!, then I stamped and heat embossed the various colours of card stock, did a little trimming and adhered the card stock to the backside of the panel. Add a sentiment and a little bling and my card is complete. Thanks for stopping by my blog!

Wild Halloween Card

Hello! Today ColourQ meets CASology with this Wild Halloween Card. The cue word at CASology is WILD. The first thing that comes to my mind is the zebra pattern. The zebra stamp was quite large so I masked about a third of it to make it more narrow. Combine that with the ColourQ colours and the end result is a simple, savvy, and spooky handmade Halloween card! Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful day!

Wild Halloween Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper white and tangerine tango card stock by Stampin' Up!
  • Stamps: Zebra background stamp by Stampabilities and Googly Ghouls by Stampin' Up!
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pads in rich razzleberry and basic black.
  • Other Stuff: Circle punch, dots bright bling by Jolee's, googly eyes, and stampin' dimensionals.
The sentiment was created in word and printed on card stock.

Cat Trick or Treat Card

Although I love Autumn and cooler weather, I am not a big fan of it getting dark early. For the last several days I've come home from work and wanted to crawl in bed, but today I resisted. This weeks ColourQ challenge was calling my name. The colours are perfect for a Halloween card! After debating how I wanted to use the colours I created this Cat Trick or Treat Card. I paper pieced the sack, star, and hat band on the stamped image and coloured the remaining parts with Crayola colored pencils. Thanks for stopping by my blog and have a wonderful night/morning/afternoon (you pick which one applies)!!!

Cat Trick or Treat Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Black folded card by Recollections, white glitter card stock by Core'dinations, lilac scalloped card (cut in half) by Studio g, tangerine tango and more mustard card stock by Stampin' Up!
  • Stamps: Trick or Treat Cat by Rubbernecker Stamps.
  • Inks: Classic stampin' pad in basic black by Stampin' Up!
  • Other Stuff: Fiskars Webs We Weave edge punch, lilac rhinestones, silver paint pen, Gelly Roll pen in clear star, and black 3-D adhesive squares.
This card is also entered into the following challenges:
