Sympathy Card with Flowers

Good day! Last week my uncle's mother passed away, so I made this card to send. It's a little more colorful than I normally make for a sympathy card but I wanted to use a grouping of flowers with the iris. Copic markers were used to color the flowers and the coordinating die cuts used to cut them out. The iris is by Divinity Designs and the remainder of the flowers are from the retired Falling Flowers stamp set by Stampin' Up!. A little stamped butterfly was added and the sympathy sentiment and that's it. Everything was adhered flat for easy shipping. Thanks for stopping by!

Falling Flowers Birthday Card

Happy Thursday! Lately a lot of my cards have featured critters on them, so I decided to make a floral card. This Falling Flowers Birthday Card features one of my favorite stamp sets by Stampin' Up! called Falling Flowers along with the May Flowers Framelit Dies. The images were stamped with Memento black ink and then colored with a mix of Stampin' Blend and Copic markers. The birthday sentiment is from the retired Watercolor Wishes stamp set and it was heat embossed with white embossing powder. For the background panel I did a subtle version of the Faux Patina technique using an embossing folder along with Crumb Cake cardstock, Crumb Cake ink, Whisper White Craft ink and clear embossing powder. If the Faux Patina technique is new to you here is a link to a great video tutorial. If you want to see all the cards I've made using the technique click HERE. The layout for this card comes from a couple others I found on Pinterest. Sometimes the hardest part of making a die cut floral card is arranging the flowers and I really like how the others were done. One of the cards was by Sue Miller and the other by Tina's Creative Studio. It's amazing to see how color changes the look of the card. Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.

You are Stronger Card

October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Becca at The Damsel of Distressed has once again organized The Hop to Stop to bring attention to the cause. Domestic Violence can be closer than you think, with 1 of 3 women experiencing domestic violence over the course of their lifetimes, chances are you know someone who has or will be a victim. Click here to visit Becca's blog and for details about The Hop to Stop.

When deciding on a design for my card, I knew I wanted to use this sentiment by Stampin' Up! from the Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set. To me, it makes a great encouragement card for more than just sympathy. When you pair the sentiment with some pretty purple flowers... hopefully it's uplifting for someone who has experienced domestic violence.

You are Stronger Card Supply List*:
  • Paper: Very Vanilla, Rich Razzleberry, Sweet Sugarplum and Perfect Plum cardstock, green cardstock by Bazzill Basics along with striped paper by My Mind's Eye.
  • Stamps: Heartfelt Sympathy and Falling Flowers.

  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, May Flowers framelit dies, Scalloped Frame by Taylored Expressions, Perfect Plum enamel dots and dimensionals.
*All supplies by Stampin' Up! unless noted.

This card is linked to the following challenges:

Floral Thoughts of You Card

There are so many wonderful framelit dies available and I love using them. Although, I need to find a good organizational strategy to keep them put away. Right now I'm keeping them in their original packaging and they are placed in a drawer. If you have any tips you would like to share I'm open to suggestions.

To create this Floral Thoughts of You Card I combined the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary with the Delightful Dies challenge at SU-Only. The colors include: Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaroon. If you've followed my blog for awhile, you may know that greens and purples are my favorite colors. So, when I saw the challenge to use these colors I knew I had to play along.

The layout for this card started by casing another one of my cards using the Falling Flowers stamp set (click here to view) but then I was playing around and the focal panel was tilted and I went with it. The only thing I would change would be leaving off the Dazzling Diamonds in the flower centers. It's getting goopy and didn't turn as pretty as I had envisioned. The list of Stampin' Up! supplies are below and thanks for stopping by!

Floral Thoughts of You Card Supplies:
  • Paper: Whisper White, Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaroon cardstock, along with Blooms & Bliss designer series paper.
  • Stamps: Timeless Textures, Falling Flowers and Watercolor Wishes.
  • Inks: Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry and Mint Macaroon.
  • Other Stuff: Big Shot, May Flower Framelit Dies, Dazzling Diamonds and Stampin' dimensionals.

Just Because Card

Sometimes I send cards "Just Because" and I like having several cards with this sentiment in my stash. To create this Just Because Card I combined the color challenge at Create with Connie and Mary with the sketch challenge at Pals Paper Arts, PPA308. The colors are nice and cheerful and I had fun playing with the Falling Flowers stamp set and May Flower framelit dies by Stampin' Up!

The challenge colors include: Peek-a-boo Peach, Tangelo Twist and Cucumber Crush. My patterned paper options in these colors were very limited, so I went with the retired designer series paper stack using Tangelo Twist. Using the retired Decorative Dots embossing folder with Whisper White cardstock for the 3.25" square area was then matted to a slightly larger piece of Peek-a-boo Peach Cardstock. The focal oval was cut and Just Because sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set was stamped using Tangelo Twist ink. The leaves were adhered flat to the oval and the flower is popped up with dimensionals. To the center of the flower I added some Dazzling Diamonds for a little sparkle and that's it! I'm also entering this card into the anything goes challenge at Creative Corner. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!

Falling Flowers Card

It's always fun playing with new supplies*! The hardest part is deciding what to play with first. After looking at all my options I selected the Serene Scenery paper pad, Falling Flowers stamp set and coordinating May Flower Framelits. Before I assembled my card I decided to stamp the focal area using the Timeless Textures stamp set and added the sentiment from the Watercolor Wishes stamp set. The colors include: Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Island Indigo.

*All supplies are by Stampin' Up!

The layout for this card was inspired by the CAS(E) this Sketch #176. I did move the sentiment but the other elements stayed the same. It's been a while since I've made a floral card and I really like several of the new flower themed stamp sets in the new catalog. The sentiment on this Falling Flowers Card is one of my favorites and can be used for many situations. Well, that's pretty much it. Thanks for stopping by and enjoy the rest of your day!
