Be still...

and know that I am God. So hard to do in this world. I found myself thinking that I'm glad it's almost Friday, but why should I be in such a rush? Every day is the Lord's and it should be cherished. "Be still" is the stamp set from Sweet n Sassy Stamps that I used for this card. I'm learning to color with my Prismacolor pencils that I bought last year (?) - I have so much, I forget when I actually got them. Anyway, I'm still learning to color with pencils. I must say that if you have Prismacolor pencils, I recommend their colorless blender pencil. I got much smoother results. I'm sure the paper has a lot to do with it too. I got some GinaK Pure Luxury 120lb cardstock and I'm having better results with my markers too. I will say this- I don't like the blue sky background. Even with a set of 24, my choices for a blue sky are limited. I will be looking for another shade of blue for future use. I used the sketch at Friday sketchers this week. This ...

The birds are singing..

Birds are singing and stirring. I know it's spring when I hear them and start finding their new nests. The challenge at Stamp Something was to create something that makes you think spring. That's one of the things I think about- birds, so I created a card with this bird stamp. I used the sketch from Our Creative Corner . Paper : BasicGrey vagabond Stamp : Martha Stewart; Verve sentiment Tools: Nestabilities; Marvy Markers; chalk Accents : Fiber (EkSuccess)

Luck of the Irish

Isn't it funny how you can see something and it does nothing for you, like a sketch, or idea? But then one day something else makes it click and inspires an idea for you. That's how it was for the Mojo Monday sketch this week and the Etsygreetings team challenge. At first the sketch didn't spark much interest, but then OCC issued a challenge yesterday to use a tag and I remembered the Mojo sketch had the perfect place for a tag. The Etsygreetings team challenge is to make a St. Patrick's Day card, and I'm not real big on those, but I did buy a few green embellies. The Dutch Dare Card challenge is to use green and yellow. I recently bought this green and yellow ribbon so with all this prompting from all these sources, it finally came together. Here is my card. Stamps : Rubber stampede, heart; studio G Paper : imagination project; sonburn Accents : Stickles, brad, Making Memories metal rim vellum tag; ribbon (Michael's) A few details: I stamped four hearts and cut...

My heart has wings

I've had these Flights of Fancy stamps by HOTP for quite a while now and have been meaing to use them, but the right reason just had not come up yet. I decided they would be perfect for a Valentine's card for hubby, so I used them. I pulled the color combo from the Charisma Cardz challenge to use black, white and one other color. The design of the card is for the MFT sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststampers . It also fits the OCC challenge to use two hearts or more. I wasn't really planning on it being a card for that challenge, but hey, it fits! Come back a little later. I'm posting some blog candy and will tell you why I'm celebrating. Paper: Doodlebug Stamps : Inkadinkado, sentiment and heart; wings, HOTP Accents : Ribbon, (Dots N Dashes); rub on stitches; DCWV Tools/techniques : Cuttlebug heart blocks folder, heat embossing

Double duty

I'm sharing some cards tonight that are doing double duty for challenges. First let me tell you about the wonderful blog candy at i{heart}2stamp . The wonderful part is that to enter you must take part in GIVING. You've got to send a card to the Dallas Baptist University that can be given to the students. Click on over and check this out. You have a chance to win another tart if you played with this week's sketch . Here is my take on the sketch: Cardstock : unknown Stamps : Inkadinkado, Studio G Accents : Buttons, Bazzill (from a few years back!) Tools : Nestabilities/ Big Shot/ Cuttlebug Birds and Swirls embossing folder This is the card I'm sending. I also made it to fit the OCC Color Challenge - two shades of blue and a neutral color. The next card is based on this week's sketch from Card Positioning Systems . It also fits the bill for the High Hopes Challenge to use embossing on your card. (Can you tell I finally got those embossing folders I ordered?) Stam...

OCC challenge card

It seems that every day I am stumbling across one great blog after another with great sketches. This weekend I found Our Creative Corner . What a talented group they have! Here is the sketch for this week's challenge there- And here is my card. I needed to make a sympathy card for my pastor who lost his grandmother, so I used the sketch to make it. I love the color combination and I hope it is as comforting to his family as it is to me. It's not a WOW! card but it's very pleasing to me.
