Pink and gold Valentine's tablescape

I was so excited when I finally got this together. I wasn't sure how this was going to turn out but I knew I wanted to use gold and pink just to tone things down from the red and hot pink on the mantel and entry vignette . I had this centerpiece idea as a starting point as well and wanted to make my own version.     I thought it would be neat to see "love" from both sides of the table. So I created my centerpiece that way. I repurposed some tin cans by covering them with scrapbook paper and cutting out the letters to spell LOVE in gold vinyl with my Silhouette machine. So.... one can has and "L" on one side and "E" on the other and so forth. Here's one view:     Here's the other. I filled the cans with artificial roses, lilac, and baby breath from the Dollar Tree. I didn't really have much pink for my tablescape so I had to create the pink accents. I did find some stoneware bowls with a darling flower and pi...

Transitional tablescape and porch: birdcages, butterflies, and pumpkins

Everyone has fall on their mind, but it's so hot here and I'm not really ready to give up summer. Well, the heat, yes, but not summer's colors and styles. So to get a jump on fall decorating but to still be able to enjoy some summer tones too, I married the two seasons with a combination of color, birdcages, and butterflies.   I never did really finish the porch for summer. Yellow was the color I gravited to for the season and I picked up some yellow pillows from Pier One. I just didn't get around to adding all the things I wanted to for the summer. Here is what I had:     A mix of blues, greens, and my new yellow pillows.  I used the placemat pillows from last year again.    To transition to fall I replaced the green lanterns and candleholders with red, and the pillows with the orange placemat pillows .

Black and white tablescape

Hello and Happy Thursday! It's almost Friday and that's a big deal since this is the first full work week for me in a couple of weeks since the holidays.     When I cleared off the Christmas setting, I replaced it with this black and white tablescape. The hubby was outside working in his garage while I did this, and when he came in he said "That's pretty." Apparently he really liked it because he complimented it again later.     The black plates, glasses, and mats came from the Dollar Tree. The white plates are from the Greek Key set I bought last summer and the silver chargers are from Big Lots and have been used over and over again.     The white flowers go back a couple of years. I posted about how I made them into napkin rings in 2011. I think the polka dot runner sets it off.    Another simple tablescape. I'll be linking up to Tablescape Thursday and these parties: Think Pink Sundays * U...

Spearmint trees and a candy tablescape

I used the gumdrop tree again this year and used the same color scheme for my Christmas tablescape , but I changed things up a little this time. I placed candy canes in hurricane vases in epsom salts. I was inspired by The Inspired Room to do this.

Thanksgiving tablescape

I had no idea what I was going to do for a tablescape this year other than the fact that it would involve leaves. I picked up some felt leaf mats at the Dollar Tree when they first came out and knew that the rich deep red would be a good building base for a fall/Thanksgiving table. I also found some amber tinted votives at the thrift store over the summer and I knew I wanted to use them. I decided to pull out my gold table runner and the glass tray and get started. Each place setting consists of a leaf mat, white plate from my Greek Key collection, a leaf salad plate by BHG from Wal-mart, thrifted goblets, white napkin tied with raffia and a handmade tag. Each tag has a Bible verse of thanksgiving and was printed in Amienne font. I printed four verses on cardstock, then cut them out with a tag template. I added a cornicopia sticker from my scrapbooking stash to each one. Some faux leaves from Michael's was inserted into each. I thought I'd share how I buil...

Casual fall/Thanksgiving tablescape

After I swapped out the pillows on the back porch and replaced the decor with some fall things, I set up a casual tablescape on the porch table. I think it would be lovely for a Thanksgiving brunch. I picked up the plates from Target on clearance and the felt pumpkin mats at the Dollar Tree before Halloween. I had intended to set a Halloween table but it never happened. I had no idea what I was going to do for the centerpiece but I grabbed some things  I had on hand and it came together. I picked up a couple of garlands from Michael's at 80% off because I was looking for filler for a tray for the inside (details on that later.) I had this garland left over and I've had this brass Party Lite candle holder for years. I don't care for brass much now but I covered it with the garland so it works. I placed some ball candles in the holders and  a crackled hurricane in the center with another candle and some fall colored gems (also picked up on clearance at Michael...

A spooky spider tablescape

Hello and welcome to my table! I hope you aren't afraid of spiders. Quite a few made their way onto the table, but maybe the crows will pick them off before they get to you. I started my Halloween tablescape with a black and white polka dot runner and then covered it with some creepy cloth from the Dollar Store. I took a black craft pumpkin, some spiders, and crows and created a centerpiece. It's perched on top of a crystal bowl that I turned upside down for a stand. I'll share a little more about it in the next post.   I used white placemats, black plates, and glasses all from the Dollar Tree. I used the white greek key salad plate on top of the black ones The napkins were thrifted and I made the napkin rings a couple of years ago.       I also made some spider hurricane vases just by taking my plain clear vases from the Dollar Tree, some black cardstock, and my spider punch. I attached the spiders with glue dots so I can easily remove...
