John The Revelator 2010 Underway

Genre: Blues
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:42:00
Size: 96,07 MB

Netherlands

This album is quite a different matter from our previous album “Down in the mud” where many friends contributed to make for a worthy celebration of our 35 years gigging and recording. One of those friends was young Erwin who decided to stay on for musical creativity and big money. His ace keyboard stuff is an extra dimension to our music.

The main difference to “Mud” is that ‘Underway’ mainly consists of self penned songs. Instead of recording arranged and worked out songs we started toying around with lyrics and rough melody lines both made by Tom who is our only full time musician at present and therefore the most suitable guy to deliver the goods. This often resulted in quite unexpected things. Quite a few songs however proved too unexpected and did not fit the Revelator catalogue and were therefore directed to our ever growing collection of outtakes.

I wanna thank our friend and engineer Henk (who never wore more than two pairs of spectacles during recording) who was great as ever. With a hell of a lot of patience and tolerance he listened to our sometimes crazy ideas and suggestions and incorporated them into the music.

Finally I wanna thank friend of the band mr. Snowy White who directed me to out of phase playing.

Hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoyed recording it.

See you at your place. (Frans “Mr. French” ten Kleij)

John The Revelator 1994 Cahow ( Blues For A Gadfly Petrel)

Netherlands

Genre: Blues
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:55:40
Size: 127,28 MB

This studio album, which was released in 1994, has been sold out for many years.

In 1994 the 25th anniversary of the band is celebrated with the studio album "Cahow". It is pure coincidence that the album is named after a highly endangered species in Bermuda petrel. Later, the band realizes that Peter Green became famous by another petrel, the Albatross. Cahow is a collection of "straightforward" blues songs, from their own song material to reworked covers of Elmore James and Duster Bennett.

This album introduces the Mississippi Twins on backing vocals.

John The Revelator 1970 Wild Blues

Genre: Blues
Rate: 320 kbps CBR / 44100
Time: 00:57:19
Size: 131,14 MB

Netherlands

Album Notes:

After more than 32 years "Wild Blues" has finally been released on CD (the record becoming a most wanted collector's item in the process). The complete Decca sessions are included, so the "lost" single and the only outtake from the "Wild Blues" sessions, a number simply called "Yeah" can be heard for the first time. Nobody knows why the track was left out in the first place, but it might have something to do with avoiding inner groove distortion which occurs when too much music is pressed on a record.

Apart from the Decca sessions, there are some demo-recordings of memorable and vintage JOHN THE REVELATOR tracks. Great that Hans van Vuuren made the effort to make this historical JOHN THE REVELATDR stuff available to the present day blues folks. Today, the band is still gigging around the country, "Worried Dreams" and "Talk to me Baby" are still live favorites, and the bluesfeel is stronger than ever!

Tracklist:

01 - John The Revelator 00:47

02 - I Can't Stop Lovin' You 03:02

03 - Worried Dreams 05:42

04 - Charlie's Drive-In 01:39

05 - Talk To Me, Baby 05:02

06 - Personal Manager 04:36

07 - Wild Blues 01:37

08 - Bleeding Heart 04:42
