The Farpoint Station je najnovija inkarnacija glazbenog projekta kojeg je započeo još 2004. varaždinski gitarist i kompozitor Nenad Resnik, suradnjom sa saksofonistom Gordanom Peršijem i Varaždinskim jazz bandom. Nakon toga formira novi band The Farpoint Station koji se pojavljuje na prvom CD-u "Return of The Son of The Monster From The Yellow Lagoon II" (Tunecore). Nenad Resnik i basist Miroslav Grabar odlučuju nastaviti kao trio i priključuje im se Želimir Novaković na bubnjevima.

The Farpoint Station je energični power-trio, mješavina funka, jazza i rocka koji izvodi vlastite kompozicije i stvara svoj prepoznatljivi zvuk. Novi, drugi po redu CD pod naslovom "Astral Neighbourhood" izlazi krajem srpnja u izdanju etikete TuneCore i bit će dobavljiv i u online verziji preko Virgin Digital, iTunes, Rhapsody, Napster, Amazon, ili u RH za sad samo direktno na stranicama banda.

Na novom albumu "Astral Neighbourhood" naglasak je stavljen na funky stranu. Naravno da prevladavaju fusion jazz instrumentali obilno začinjeni funkom, tipični za dosadašnji rad banda, ali se po prvi put pojavljuju i punokrvne funk kompozicije, vokalne izvedbe uz iskorak prema funk rocku. Svirka grupe lišena je stilskih klišeja, pa tako klasični jazz milestone "Caravan" dobiva žestoki funk prizvuk, lagani trodobni blues "White Gold" transformira se u rockersku grmljavinu s izvrsnim free-jazzy sax solom. "Hip-07" kombinira funk, rock i jazz na način gdje se svi stilski elementi uklapaju u cjelinu koja na kraju zvuči, kao i ostale skladbe na albumu, kao glazbeno viđenje neopterećeno kalupima i etiketama. The Farpoint Station 2014 Urgent Intervention

Hello.

I very much enjoy your blog, and since I respect your musical opinions very much, I guess it won't hurt if I send you a link to present you a new band. It is my own band, The Farpoint Station, and I have a new album...

I live in Croatia and play since i was 12, and that was long ago. :o)

I have no contract, no label, and I have just finished my new (3rd) album, and would be very honoured if you could find some time to hear it. It is professionally recorded, mastered at Amsterdam mastering by Darius Van Helfteren.

The Farpoint Station is a project that I started back in 2004. Soon after that I have formed the backup band The Farpoint Station that appears for the first time on my first album titled “Return of The Son of The Monster From The Yellow Lagoon II” (Tunecore).

After this album which was jazzy oriented, the band transforms itself into a power trio and records the second album named “Astral Neighbourhood“ for the US market (Tunecore).

During last year the band enters the studio again and records the brand new album “Urgent Intervention“, that was released this September. On the album the band adds strong Hammond grooves to the hardened classic rock grooves. The album could be shortly described as the unique blend of old-school progressive blues-rock with some ethnic and funky flavour.

The group was formed from four friends that connects the desire to play a solid, energetic mix of country, blues and rock. STOP originated in Zagreb, the capitol of Croatia, in 1978 and has been active with it’s current membership for the past 10 years. The group consists of lead guitarist Nikola Sarapa also the founder and leader of the band, drummer Goran Markic, bass player Ivica Miksic, and singer Ervin Baucic, the group’s main focus is on the performance of big hard-rock hits of the late sixties (i.e. Jimi Hendrix, Cream, etc.) but they also play classic rock and roll blues. The group has thus for recorded one maxi single and six LP albums, in addition to holding hundreds of live performances throughout Croatia, former Yugoslavia, Italy, Austria and Germany. The group has gained a formidable reputation and popularity over the years with the devotees of original hard rock. Especially noteworthy are group’s signature takes of Jimi Hendrix’s hits. Finally, I should also mention of successful live TV performances during the group’s long existence.

While the true fans of this music still exist in these parts of the world, the style has undeniably lost a lot of general popularity over the years and the market for it has been declining steadily. The members of STOP on the other hand may be getting older, but they feel like they’ve got a few more years left in the tank and are eager to show it. HARPOON BLUES BAND story can be registered from the spring of 2006. At that time, Jadran Vuskovic, an expert guitarist and one of the founders of legendary Croatian band DALEKA OBALA, and Predrag Lovrincevic, blues enthusiast, the harmonica player and ex-member of the Split blues bands BLACK CAT BONE and NINE BELOW ZERO, began to play acoustics music at various Split clubs. Soon, the piano player, File Aljinovic, joins the duo, and they have been playing together since the beginning of year 2007. The band's name is AKUSTIK THREE. At that time the bass player, Duje Coko, joins the band, and soon after him the young guitarist, Vicko Franic, joins the band too. They appear together at many Split clubs, the band gets a new profile and changes their name into AKUSTIK 5, acquiring many new fans. Soon File Aljinovic leaves the band and moves to Zagreb.

The band adopts an electric form, and they need a drummer. Since that time many drum players played with Akustik 5, like Jadran Ducic (jazz band Black Coffe), Patak (Otprilike Ovako), Toni Silobrcic (Zrakomlat) and others. They call themselves HARPOON BLUES BAND.Finally, Josko Radic, who sometimes played with band on his second instrument, clarinet, joined the band on drums at the end of 2007. With this crew HARPOON BOOGIE BLUES BAND is finally completed. Why Harpoon Boogie Blues Band? Harmonica is one of blues symbols, it recalls the accompanying sound of sea ( Split is an ancient Mediterranean city and place where the Harpoons are coming from), and finally it is an honest and direct access to blues which all the members of HARPOON BLUES BAND have under their skin .That is the definitely good reason for their band's name. BLUES ON!!
