Snuggle Alert!

Yep, there is actually such a thing as a Snuggle Alert :) … at least according to the weather man down here in Florida. The term is used when the temperature dips below 60F! For us it's cool, not always cold, but cool & we break out the sweaters.

From my days in retail (read cold air conditioning), I have a lot of sweaters, and any chance I have to bring them out is a welcome one!!

I went shopping with a friend the other day, and she summed up my style pretty well… 

Split Personality!! - I am not kidding! 

Truth is, she is partially right :) I kinda have two styles going on in my closet; One is what is left over from my retail days… lots of black, sweaters (to battle the cold a/c) and beautiful knits, just because I love knits and cool, crisp fall clothing. Once we get in to having to wear a jacket, well, then it's just too cold for me. Two is where all the white, and preppy pinks come in. The latter part of what is in my closet is actually way more practical as I live in this warm / hot tropical climate. Sooooo, what's a girl to do?? I have been going through and cleaning out / organizing my closet many times, I guess an other round is in store as my body has changed a bit from being pregnant, so I see this as my chance to start a fresh clean style! Black & White Cuteness!!

Since the birth of our baby girl, Lilly, we have been the lucky recipients of the most adorable baby clothes!! Needless to say, the majority is one shade or another of PINK! A few very generous gift cards were received as well, two were to Baby Gap, bringing me to the Baby Gap website... these few pieces caught my eye! So cute!

... and I read somewhere in the Fashion Pages (don't ask me where) that a Pink Winter Coat is a must for everyone this season...? Well, I found this one, super cute but we're not quite there yet, as it's only been a month since Lilly was born.

Fall Cravings...

So... have you experienced that when - for what ever reason - you are not "supposed" to be buying clothes (or shoes, or whatever) you find exactly what you want?? In my particular case, there is just no reason to go shopping at the moment, as I have no idea how "we" are dealing with the after-baby-body... but a girl can dream, right? Oh, and did I mention that I love cold weather clothes - well, to a certain extend - as long as the weather sticks to the 60's! Thant being said, I would rather buy a beautiful sweater, than a bathing suit, and this is coming from someone who lives in Florida....  Go figure! Today I received the new J.Crew Style Guide Catalog, and it had me on their website in a minute. These are my picks... most of them from their Discovered pages.

This mens bag would make a stylish diaper bag for Mr. Wonderful, don't you think?? 

I know, I am wayyyyyy ahead of the game, but these two kids sweaters are just so great, I had to include them!

Love the color of this Je t'aime sweater, LOVE!!

New on the Virtual Newsstand...

Pretty, Right?? :)

The new Matchbook Magazine hit the virtual newsstand yesterday. While the super talented Christian Siriano made the cover, this is the Fashion Issue after all, I found the introduction to Genifer Sohr a wonderful read!

Genifer's vintage one-of-a-kind-style, is so fresh and preppy, yet vintage-y all at once. LOVE the color and style she has going on!! Check out the article on page 68.

Now, I am not a big jewelery wearer myself, but I can really appreciate when someone does the accessorizing well, all Genifer's colorful pieces are also on display, for you to view.

On another note...

Shake a Tail Feather!

I was just introduced to the Illustrator Megan Hess via Fine Decor Magazine, and just look at these super cute feathery drawings, cool, huh?? These are just two of the Black Feather Collection. LOVE the technique used, no doubt about what the dresses are made from :)

Lately I have been drawn (pun intended) to simple sketches... and I thought I would share a few with you here! Continuing yesterdays Golden Moment, I am starting this post with a super sweet drawing, complete with a glittery trim...

And then I came across these great fashion sketches by Swedish Lovisa Burfitt. Aren't they cool? I - as you might have guessed - love the graphic Black & White thing going on, but I also totally dig the clean gold frame!!

In the last couple of days I have seen Gwyneth Paltrow's beautiful face everywhere... and today the brand new InStyle October 2012 magazine landed in my mailbox, and yes, you guessed it, Gwyneth is on the cover!

I always love seeing her in cool preppy photo shoots, and these two stripe-y versions are super cute, don't you think??

Day Dreaming.

Today, this is exactly what I was doing while enjoying a good cup of coffee! ... and I could have stayed there for hours, BUT I had things to do and places to go, yet I don't feel particularly accomplished today!

Do you have days where you work, and seemingly get nothing done, spin your wheels yet nothing is happening??? Here's to hoping for a great day tomorrow, stay tuned :)

Oscar gold...

It's been a little while since I did anything fashion related here on the blog.
I believe it's best left to the pros, such as Anh from 9to5Chic, but I DO read their blogs and drool from a distance....

While it is safe to say, that I do not wear a lot of jewelry, I must confess to really liking this Oscar de la Renta piece. I like it for it's chunkiness, for the matte finish and for elevating a plain white top to something super cool!

Are you with me on this one? Or is gold not your thing??

Frames...

... I need new frames! I have had my current glasses for way to many years, so it's time!! I tend to wear my contacts most of the time, but I am starting to find it irritating when my eyes dry out, due to the stress of working on the laptop for long periods of time...

While these cat-eye frames are insanely chic and look amazing, they totally do not work for my face...

... and the super dark / black frames are better left to the brunettes.

I just came across these Vintage Crystal Robert Marc frames on my NYC trip, and they are SO COOL! This is what I had in mind, and these look awesome, so I think it's a go :)

A little while back a came across this Pinterest board, and it brought me to this blog post, which I loved, and it made me look at glasses as a fashion statement again...
I run out to the movies with my glasses on, to the stores and markets, even to see clients from time to time, so why not have a pair I really, really love??

Malene Birger By Mail!

... OK, so I totally missed this, don't know how, but I did...

Danish Fashion Designer Malene Birger has designed a stamp! Yes, a stamp...
All of a sudden - well, since July / August 2011 - it has become fashionable sending a letter again!!

And how did I find out about this you ask, well, on my birthday I received a letter from home with a lovely card and a FAN.TAS.TIC birthday gift.... The envelope was white, the writing black, the two different stamps were black, white & silver, and by closer inspection this is what I found!
You just know I went straight to the computer to find out more, right?

Well, it turns out this "little" design job was given to Malene Birger (a seasoned designer) and to Silas Adler (a newcomer), both stamps were launched during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Quite an honor!! As with her art, this stamp has been "drawn freehand, with broad, soft lines and bold, pure graphics."
I love the black bow and the black border!!

Think about the combination of stamps, ink and and color next time you write a letter. Presentation is everything people, even when sending a letter, and not just when it is a wedding invitation!!

New on the Virtual Newsstand...

Hi there...

The new rue magazine is out, and I just had to thumb through, looking forward to really diving in tonight!!

I was surprised by Winters Embrace... cool fashion shoot, and the wall mural on page 96 is AMAZING!! Super cool :)

The interior space that I was drawn to, at first glance, belong to Danielle Moss. Her Chicago apartment is full of natural light, a beautiful white space with lots of personality. I can't wait to study the images :) ... there is even a blog to check out as well. And soon The Everygirl will launch, should be exciting for sure!!
