More of Everything

Hello Dear Friends!

Thank you so much for the very kind welcome back! It feels good to be in blogland again. I need to spend some time with my bloglovin account and add some blogs back into it (I had cleared it all out a while ago.) I still miss google reader.

The new year had me wanting to get the list of knitting wip's whittled down. I've managed to get two crossed off.

I finished my Colorado shawl, knit with some rustic 2-ply Colorado homespun purchased at the Taos Wool Festival many moons ago. The yarn and pattern felt like they were meant for each other. And the pattern...so simple and lovely and clever! Wendy doesn't recommend blocking the finished shawl, but I felt like my yarn could use it and I was right. It bloomed beautifully, and while it's still very "rustic" feeling, it isn't quite as scratchy.

pattern: Colorado Spring by Wendy D. Johnson
yarn: 2-ply Colorado Homespun

I finished my Christmas socks a wee bit after the holidays. I have easily knit a couple hundred pair of socks, but I still get a little giddy with a newly finished pair.

Roman Holiday socks
pattern: Blueberry Waffle by Sandy Turner
yarn: Regia

And...I actually crossed a few stitches! I cleaned out my drawers (2!) of cross stitch wip's and came across this one that only had a few stripes left to do. Hopefully I'll get it sewn into a little pillow to add to my patriotic basket this year :)

pattern: Summer Patches by Plain & Fancy Collection
fabric: 28ct "staci-dyed" linen
fibers: WDW brick and whiskey, GAST uniform blue, coffee dyed DMC

As I said, I cleaned out my cross stitch wip's: tossing some projects, reclaiming linen from others and organizing what remained. I pulled out a couple that I hope to work on here and there, fingers crossed :)

So what do I mean by "more of everything"? I hope to knit more stash yarn, do more cross stitch and embroidery, read more, and continue to do more cleaning and organizing. And just appreciating everything a little bit more :)

Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods. Sending you all a little Colorado Sunshine!

Happy Friday!

Hello Dear Friends!  I'm so happy it's Friday...although the way we all dragged ourselves out of bed this morning, we were wishing it was Saturday, lol!  I sewed this little birdie into a simple pillow and added some vintage buttons that belonged to Hubby's Grandma.  Considering that the stitching was finished in 2009, it is downright shameful how long it's taken!

I've been remiss in showing this beautiful little gem of an ornament sent to me by sweet Julianne.  Thank you so much Julianne, I love it and look forward to putting it on my tree!

And I received this wonderful surprise in the mail!  Corinna no longer keeps a blog, but this bag is a gorgeous treasure.  She's right in saying that it's the perfect size for a sock or dishcloth project.  Thank you so much Corinna for your beautiful and thoughtful gift!

Thank you all so much for your thoughtful blogiversary wishes!  I wish I could send you each a little something...and how about Terri's amazing little poem she left.  How creative is she?!?!  Congratulations Julie (Julie's Stitchyknitter Journal)!  Will be sending you an email :)

Thanks again for stopping by, your visits brighten my day!  Sending you all a little Colorado Sunshine!!!

More Jan Ornies

I was going to post these as my Feb ornies, but why wait?
I'm still feeling super-inspired to stitch and finish Christmas ornaments :)
The amount of pleasure and satisfaction I feel is absurdly disproportional to the size of the finished piece, lol.

This was a real pleasure to stitch.
Thank you so much Tanya for such a sweet pattern!

For Harmien...

AKA: "the crazy cat lady".  LOL  ;)  I really don't think she's crazy, but I do know how much she loves her little felines.  I had marked this pattern when I first saw it for her bday.  Then promptly forgot about it and came across it again recently.  Unbeknownst to Harmien, I was stitching this when she sent me pics of a darling newborn kitten who will come and live with her in the near future  :)

On the back:  a small patch of calico and a brass button recycled from an old pair of jeans (sewn with reverse side facing.)

Patriotic Pillows

Hello friends!  I know I said in my last post that I had some new starts, which I do (and these are not them.)  I'm actually back today with some finishes!  I stitched Old Glory last year, but never got around to sewing it up.  And I started the Quaker heart last year too, but abandoned it halfway through.  And since June is the month that I normally stitch patriotic stuff, I thought it was high time to get them finish~finished  :)

Pincushion for Paula

Hello dear friends!  I seem to have lost a bit of blogging mojo.  Maybe because it's that time of year when my schedule is getting more hectic.  Or maybe it's a case of spring fever :)  Whichever it is, it needs to go away so I can show you what I've been up to!  And please accept my sincere apologies for my lack of comments...I've been skimming through my reader and drooling over all your lovely creations and wonderful new stash :)

Paula C let me know earlier in the week that she received the PinCushion Exchange I stitched for her.  It was truly a joy to stitch for you Paula!!!

Ptits coeurs Ciseaux

fabric:  28ct "staci-dyed" evenweave
fiber:  DMC 310

I had stitched this before my blogging days for myself and it appears in some of my photos.  And I've had many questions about it.  Well, I couldn't exactly remember the pattern and such and actually didn't think I had the pattern anymore.  So I was pleasantly surprised to find it amongst some other charts I was organizing :)  'Tis good to organize, lol!!!

Well my lovelies, that's all for me today.  I really appreciate your continued visits and comments, they really warm my heart :)  I have other things to show you, so I hope to be back soon.  Have a Happy Weekend!

Focusing

Good Morning Friends! I've worked myself out of my tizzy. It's good to know that I'm in good company...if there's so many of us that it affects, then we can't be crazy~~right???

I focused my efforts and got the dishcloths done first (since there was only one more left to knit and then ends woven in!)

And then I finished Sew Patchwork by Carol R. There was no deadline or anything, but I didn't really have that much left to stitch, and I knew I just wouldn't be able to ignore it :)

Such a sweet design. And I know exactly how I want to finish~finish it!

Thank You Lenka for giving me this award :) I really appreciate you thinking of me. I have trouble picking only 5 blogs to pass this on to beecause I subscribe to so many fabulous ones. So, feel free to help yourself to this award because I'm passing it on to whoever comes by here :)

I've begun my socks for February and am working on the heel of the first one :) Focusing can be sooo rewarding, lol!!! But today I will be focusing on our taxes. Thanks for stopping by my neck of the woods. I'd send you some Colorado sun, but it's still dark, lol ;) Have a good one.

January's end

Hello dear ones. I can hardly believe tomorrow is the last day of January. And that writing and saying and hearing "2010" is now old news. I'm here to squeeze two last finishes in for the month...which will bring my total to 15! I know, I can't believe it. Can you tell that right now is our "quiet" time of the year? The crazy hectic schedule will be gearing up very soon so I must take advantage while I can, lol ;)

I've had this pattern for a very long time, just could never decide what color I wanted to knit it in. So when Jolene's surprise showed up with the exact yarn called for, I figured it was serendipity! I'll take better pics after I've taken the time to block it :)

If ever there's a morning

that needs coffee, it's gotta be Monday :) Seeing other stitchers pulling out their old WIPs has inspired me to get out one of my own. I abandoned this one last summer...

This time around, the stitching just glided along :)

Coffin Buzz

fabric: misc "staci-dyed" linen remnant

You may know that I always celebrate a finish with a new start. Apparently finishing an old WIP merits 2 new starts, lol. More on that later ;)

Hope your week is off to a fabulous start! Sending you all a little Colorado Sunshine, Happy Monday!
