Serene Fox

Mornin' y'all!  I don't know how much time I'll get in my craft room this week and next, but I did get a couple of cards made on Sunday.  Here's the first one:

I loved the inspiration picture from Inkspirational Challenges:

I just *had* to squeeze in enough crafting time to make a fox-inspired card!  I decided on Cinnamon Cider, Pale Papaya, and Soft Succulent for my colors, based on the inspo pic.  The fox is colored with a combination of dark Pale Papaya and light Cinnamon Cider blends, with Soft Succulent light and dark for the background.  Not so sure about the halo effect on my fox, but it felt like he needed *something* behind him.

Have a great day, y'all.

Simple Sympathy Bunny

Creature Feature Day 4!  And another reminder to post your animal cards on the SUO Challenges blog :)

For today's card, I pulled out the beautiful Nature's Beauty stamp set and decided to make a bunny card since I've already used the fox and the deer.  I decided to make a sympathy card, not because I need one, but because I hate making one when I DO need one.

The card base is Misty Moonlight and the next layer is Seaside Spray, how perfect are they together?  The main image panel is Smoky Slate; I used the chalk marker to make his tail white.  I always think that sympathy cards should be pretty CAS and use more soothing colors.  I added a few Misty Moonlight enamel dots for simple accents because it felt a little *too* plain without them.

Cheers, y'all!

Punny Deer

Hey y'all!  I am officially more than half done with my nephew's baby book--9 layouts out of 17, so whoop!  Still bustin' a move to get the other ones done before Christmas but I'm feeling pretty good.

So I took some time out and made a card yesterday and it made me giggle because I love puns.

Do you see it?  "Hold most dear" with a DEER?!  I crack myself up, and that's what matters ;) I had started out with a different sentiment there, but I needed something narrower to accommodate the sketch I was using, and then the deer thing made me snort-giggle so I had to do it.  Also, the colors are off in the picture because it was dark when I took the photo and my Ott Lite is dying after many years of service.  So I'll retake this in daylight and edit.  (ETA:  Slightly better picture uploaded.)

Anyway!  The sketch from Freshly Made Sketches:

The deer is standing in (literally and figuratively, haha) for the teal strip on the sketch.

I also used this week's Color Throwdown:

I used Coastal Cabana (sponged sky behind the trees), Shaded Spruce (a bit darker than the photo here, but I think still acceptable), gold, and white.  Plus some Early Espresso for my deer.

Have a great weekend, peeps.  Cheers!

Happy Fox

Hey y'all!  Once again I've been playing with new stamps :D  Apparently I was in a rustic mood the last time I ordered, because I got Rustic Retreat from the main catty and Nature's Beauty, which is in the holiday catalog and has some beautiful animal images in it.  Of course I had to ink up the fox first!

I'm planning to sneak this into my husband's truck one morning before he goes to work :)  Isn't that a GORGEOUS fox?!  I stamped him in Versamark + Early Espresso on watercolor paper and heat embossed him so I could watercolor.  I also did a light wash of Mint Macaron on the whole panel, but it didn't show up too well in the picture.

I used the sketch challenge from the Global Design Project:

I just picked my own combo of colors and I need to play with Shaded Spruce more often, it's beautiful.

Time to get moving, y'all.  Have a great day!
