Figuring it Out

Earlier this week I started a book by one of my favorite authors.  After reading the first two chapters, I knew ( just knew) what really happened and guessed at the drama in between before it was finally revealed.  I was not happy about this and put the book down.  I picked up another book.  Later, I thought about those chapters, and decided I had to know if I was right so I skimmed through the book and yes I was right on! Normally when I think I know what is going to happen I happily continue on with the story, but this was different. I believe it was because I was sick all week and wanted to be totally immersed in a book to forget about feeling so crappy.   This will not sway me away from future books by this author.

Jake Buckman’s relationship with his sixteen-year-old son Ryan is not an easy one, so at the urging of his loving wife, Pam, Jake goes alone to pick up Ryan at their suburban movie theater. On the way home, Ryan asks to drive on a deserted road, and Jake sees it as a chance to make a connection. However, what starts as a father-son bonding opportunity instantly turns into a nightmare. Tragedy strikes, and with Ryan’s entire future hanging in the balance, Jake is forced to make a split-second decision that plunges them both into a world of guilt and lies. Without ever meaning to, Jake and Ryan find themselves living under the crushing weight of their secret, which threatens to tear their family to shreds and ruin them all.

Did you read this book?

How about you?  When you have an idea of where the book is going, do you check it out?   Do you put the book down or continue reading to see if you were right?

Blog Name - Blogivesary & Giveaway

Beach
I am often asked what does your blog name mean? How did you come up with the name of your blog?

So in celebration of the belated seventh anniversary (March 28) of this blog here's the story:

Sunset on the beach

When I first started this journey I wanted a place to keep track of what I've read as well as my thoughts on those books.  It was going to be a place just for me as I had no idea what blogdom was all about.

I thought about some of my favorite things in order to come up with a name. I live on Lake Michigan and love our beach and boardwalk. They are two places I love to be, which led to the song Under The Boardwalk that has always been a favorite of mine.
Under the Boardwalk it was.  I had no idea at the time what would follow.  It has been such a pleasure to meet other book  lovers and share this passion.

In celebration of seven years I will be offering a couple of my favorite things that are locally made.  Enter by comment and tell me if you prefer dark or milk chocolate.  Please leave an email address for easy contact.  I will draw a winner April 25th

The pictures used on this blog are of the beach, boardwalk and pier.  If I've used pictures that were not taken by myself, family and/or friends, photo credit is given.
