For the Hostess

In Croatia, chocolate chips are hard to come by. I once packed a small suitcase, the kind that can by taken as hand luggage, full of chocolate chips and peanut butter on our way back to Croatia from the US. The security people got suspicious that something so small could be so heavy (like 60 lbs heavy!). They asked me to open it and were surprised that I had packed so much chocolate chips in such a small space. Our family loves them, so I had to bring enough that will last us for months. :-)

Croats do not typically bake with them. So, chocolate chip cookies are still a novelty. Around Christmas time, we get invited to people's homes many times for coffee or just a lovely chat. I usually think of a small gift to give to each host/hostess.

Thanks to Verve's August Project Parade, I got a jump start in planning what I will be giving and how I will be packaging my little gifts this year. I also make this with a printed Croatian sentiment, "za vas" for my friends who do not speak English.

And here's the close up of the card.

Stamps: Holiday Silhouettes (Inkadinkado), My Cuppa' Joe (GKD), Unity medallion BG
Paper: Green Apple (GinaK), Urban Prairie (Basic Grey)

Ink: Old Olive, Really Red

Other: gold pearls, ribbon and red rhinestone

Happy birthday, Operation Write Home (formerly Cards for Heroes)

That wonderful organization Cards for Heroes is now called Operation Write Home and they are celebrating their birthday this weekend. They have lots of information where you will find out how worthwhile this cause is and inspiration too. Make sure you head over to their brand new site, OPERATION WRITE HOME. They have prizes galore. GinaK Designs is giving away a free StampTV kit!

Here's a birthday card I made in honor of the occasion. I don't make them enough, but love cards that are funny. I hope this card will put a smile on a somebody's face.

If you can't read it, the saying says, "You're only young once, but you can be immature forever." That image of a granny on a mechanical horse is just too funny.

Stamps: Humorous birthday (Inkadinkado)
Ink: Memento Tux Black, Copics
Paper: Really Red, So Saffron
Other: So Saffron ribbon, button

More Christmas cards

Two more cards for the Moxie Fab challenges going on right now. And tomorrow, I will show you my favorite of the 5 I made for Cath's challenges.

The first card is for the Style with Stamping and the Fun & Cute Challenges. I had to stretch my coloring on this card. I love my copics, but sometimes I don't know what I'm doing :-). I do know that I need the GinaK Pure Luxury white or ivory cardstock to get the best results.

Stamps: Unity June KOTM, Jolly Christmas by Hero Arts
Paper: GKD white, Ripe Avocado by PTI and Pink Passion by SU
Ink: Memento Tux Blk, Pink Passion, Copic markers
Others; Lace apron punch by Fiskars, Ripe Avocado ribbon and Hibiscus Burst button by PTI

My second card is my humble attempt at Vintage shabby chic. This is one style I LOVE seeing others make because I love lace, pearls and ribbons, not to mention anything vintage. But I can't seem to make it work for me. I love everything straight, so I can't do collages very well. :-)

Stamps: Holiday Silhouettes by Inkadinkado, SU Cute and Curly
Paper: GKD Green Apple, DCWV La Creme, Foolala by Autumn Leaves
Ink: Old Olive, Bravo Burgundy
Others: Buttons by PTI and Buttons Galore, Ribbon by Michael's, lace
