Birthday Dandelions

I have a vintage-inspired, distressed, shabby card (that's a mouthful! :)). I used an image of one of my favorite plants to photograph, stamp and pull out of my yard! This stamp is Penny Black's Sparklers. I distressed the edges of the background papers, by Prima, before stitching it in place. The sentiment is by SRM Stickers.

I did the emboss resist with various Distress Inks.I used the darkest color in the center for the greatest impact. I adhered some Want2Scrap pearls in the center. I also distressed the edges of the panel and tucked a piece of lace underneath.

I'm entering this to the following challenges: SRM Challenge (birthday), Crazy4Challenges (Distressing, Fiber and Stitching), Virginia's View Challenge (stitching), Seize the Birthday, The Paper Players (color combo).

Beautiful Dahlia Birthday

I have a vintage inspired card for you today using my Penny Black Sweet Dahlia stamp set. I colored it with Copic markers. It's been a while since I used my markers. The circle sentiments is from the ...Wishes set, which was die cut using Spellbinders Classic Circle dies. The papers are Prima. I distressed, stitched and inked edges of the different layers. Scrapbook Adhesives by3L Foam squares come in handy for the layers. Pearls by Want2Scrap.

It has been raining here, so I wasn't able to photograph my card well. I like to use natural light. The photo above was taken in the shade. Here's a better look at the flower.

The sketch is inspired by Retro Sketches #111. I'm also entering this to the SSS Monday Challenge to use a big stamp.

Fairy Birthday Card and Winner

I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was wonderful. It was sunny and warmer than usual. Snow has melted and I didn't need to wear my marshmallow jacket outside. :) It's a little colder today, but it's not supposed to last. I believe this is the shortest winter we've ever had here.

My card today is one I made for my youngest who loves pink, purple and fairies. It's hard to see, but the tag says, "Celebrate" and it's from my now retired TCM set. It was die cut using Spellbinders' die. The papers and image panel are Graphic 45. The flower is by Prima. The panel was framed with Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L Photo Corners. And the pearls are Want2Scrap.

Finally, the winner of my giveaway is...CARRIE R. Please send me an email (via Contact tab above) and under subject, please type "Penny Black Feb 2014 giveaway." Thank you all for entering. I will have another giveaway soon.

Girly Card for my Girly Daughter

My card today is one I made for my very girly daughter (who likes pink and everything glittery and princess :) ). I used some of my now retired The Craft's Meow stamps. The chipboard frame is also retired and it's by Tattered Angels. The pretty border scallop is by Spellbinders.
For-Daughter
I used Prima papers. I inked the chipboard frame and added some paper flowers because they just seemed to belong there.

By the way, my daughter loved it! :)

Easy Burlap Mason Jar Vase Tutorial

I'm sharing with you something that's not a card today. Tomorrow, my church is hosting a Women's Brunch Outreach. I turned ordinary mason jars (a bargain at 35 cents each!) into these vases as decorations for the tables.
These are really easy to make. Here are the supplies I used: mason jar (or save your old mayo jars) burlap, ribbon, rubber band and flower (I used Prima). Not showing here is my glue gun.
Cut a piece of burlap and remove the strips of fibers to create a fringe on the long sides of the burlap. Trim the fringe so they look straight.
Wrap it around the jar. Secure with a rubber band. Leave the rubber band as is if you're using a non transparent ribbon.
I'm using a see-thru ribbon, so the rubber band can't stay there. Move the rubber band lower to keep the burlap secure as you tie your ribbon.
Adhere the flower using a glue gun. It will also slightly secure the burlap onto the jar.
Here it is with flowers and some greeneries.
Let me know if you made these easy jars. Have a great weekend!

TCM January 2013 Previews: Beautiful Hymns

Welcome to day one of The Craft's Meow's January 2013 Release Previews. Today we're showing one of my new sets called Beautiful Hymns. As the name suggests, this set was inspired by some of my favorite classic Christian hymns. The hardest thing to do was to pick which ones to include.

For my card today, I used one of the most quoted lines from Great is Thy Faithfulness. The song is based on Scripture:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;
his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.
“The LORD is my portion,” says my soul,
“therefore I will hope in him.”
(Lamentations 3:22-24 ESV)
TCM-Hymn1
The card is simple shabby. I stamped the sentiment on a die cut Spellbinders Labels 10. The background paper is by Prima. I accented the label with some Want2Scrap bling, burlap twine and Prima flower.

Please check out the TCM blog for a list of participants on today's previews, including our Guest Designer of the month, Jennifer Ingle! A stamp set will be given away to one commenter on the TCM blog. The winner will be randomly drawn and announced the next day's post. Have a great day!

Happy New Year and Some Changes

Hello, friends! I hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's celebration! I enjoyed the break and spending time with our loved ones at home. I love my Christmas gift from  my hubby...a new craft room! I will share pictures soon.

I will be making a little bit of change on my blog starting today. As you probably already noticed, I haven't been blogging as often. Life has been so busy. My oldest just became a teenager and it's sad to think that we only have a few years with her at home before she pursues her dreams on her own :(. And ministry always keeps us on our toes. Because of all this, I decided to give up on some other less important aspects of life (such as publication, though I missed the excitement of receiving those acceptance emails from my favorite craft magazines) this past year. Unfortunately, blogging falls under this "less impt than life" category as well, but I love sharing my cards here and am always SO encouraged by your visits and comments that I just cannot give it up entirely :). I will just be posting less often.

I will also be sharing more non-paper crafting posts. One other thing enjoy is cooking and baking. Having moved to a little bitty town in Croatia many years ago, I have had to learn to cook from scratch and experiment with substitute ingredients. I have definitely learned to be creative in my kitchen and it has been a fun experience that I would like to share with you also, from time to time.

THANK YOU so much for your continued visits, comments and support the last 3 years I have blogged. I hope you will keep returning despite the changes I mentioned above.

Now let's get to today's card. This is for The Craft's Meow's January Sketch Challenge. I used Stitched Sentiments Two stamp set on this simple vintage card.

The papers and stickers are Melissa Frances. The flower is by Prima.

Ink Splatter Card #4

Here is the last card in my Want2Scrap Silhouette - Old Time Tricycle series of cards. As I mentioned from my last post, this is my favorite of all 4! I didn't use the silhouette as a stencil this time and no ink splatters! This is the actual shape that I used for the other 3 cards, so it's beautifully covered in shimmery ink. While the others are more grungy and distressed, this is more my style: clean and shabby!

I stitched the main panel from Prima Almanac collection onto the card front. I adhered the silhouette using Beacon Adhesives Zip Dry Paper Glue.
W2S-Card1
The sentiment and banner are from The Craft's Meow's Vintage Rides stamp set. I adhered a silver rhinestone (from Want2Scrap Sleek Strips Silver Rhinestones- Self Adhesive) on the banner ties. Here you can see better the shimmer that's on the silhouette. Isn't it lovely?
W2S-Card1det
I followed The Craft's Meow's July sketch challenge for this one. Please play along with us and link up your card on the TCM blog.
I hope you've enjoyed this series of cards using the same Want2Scrap silhouette image. I love that they can be used a stencil, too. Finally, don't forget to check out my GIVEAWAY going on now. Ink Splatter Card #2 and a Contest/Giveaway

If you came here for the Spellbinders' Summer Spectacular Blog Frenzy, please scroll down below or click HERE.

Hi, friends. I'm taking a computer break for several days, so this is a pre-scheduled post. In fact, I have a scheduled post almost every day. Let's hope blogger won't fail me :). While I'm away, let's have a giveaway, shall we? It's been a while since I had one and I missed my 3rd blog anniversary a couple of months ago.

Simply leave me a comment on my blog posts (one comment per post per person) from today until July 5th. I will pick 4 winners from the comments left on my blog to win the following prizes (one winner per prize).
Layers of Color's Sweet Silhouettes stamp set (retired)

A note about claiming your prize:
Everybody is welcome to comment and be eligible to win. I will announce the winners on  July 6 right here. Due to the number of prizes being given away on my blog and my dependence on my mom to do the shipping, I have to ask that the winners email (via Contact tab above) me with their info within 4 days (till July 10) in order to claim the  prize. This will help with organization and avoiding confusion. Thanks for understanding!

Finally, please consider liking the following Facebook pages.  The last 3 listed are companies that provided some of the prizes being given away today, so you don't miss the latest news and happenings:

Now onto my card...I'm showing you today my 2nd card using the Want2Scrap Silhouette - Old Time Tricycle with the ink splatter technique. As with my first card, I used the silhouette as a stencil. I just love the results, which give the illusion of multiple layers, esp with that collage patterned paper by Prima.
W2S-Card2
I layered the card front with Want2Scrap Manilla tag which was stamped with The Craft's Meow's Simply Delightful stamp set. I added small banner strips from paper scraps on top of that. The sentiment is Want2Scrap Chipboard Sentiments- Words of Love covered in white pigment ink. A vintage brad and some Want2Scrap Swirls, Finesse - Silver Rhinestones - 2 Pack - Self Adhesive finish the card.
W2S-Card2det
I have two more cards to show you using the same silhouette shape. In the meantime, enjoy your day!

Ink Splatter card

Hello, friends! It was my turn to share on the Want2Scrap blog the other day and I used a technique on my card that is something new to me. It's one of a series of 4 cards using the same Want2Scrap Silhouette - Old Time Tricycle. I love this vintage shape and I utilized it here as a stencil on a Prima patterned paper using spray inks. I used the GlueGlider PRO+ MultiDirectional Cartridge Refill - Repositionable to attach the silhouette to keep it in place before I sprayed. The result adds such a dramatic flair with the ink spatters, but still manages to preserve the lovely tricycle shape.
W2S Card4
I distressed the edges and stitched the panel in place. The sentiment is from The Craft's Meow's Mother and Father stamp set  I added another ripped strip of Prima paper. I then cut a strip of Want2Scrap ATC in Canvas (3-Pack), folded them in random places and stapled it in place. A button stringed with burlap twine is all the embellishment it needs for this masculine card.
W2S Card4det
I have to admit that I was a little scared using the spray inks, but now I can't stop :). I'll be sharing the other 3 cards in the series in the next few weeks. Have a great day!

Father's Day CAS cards and sketches

I have some mass produced clean and simple cards for you today using The Craft's Meow's Mother and Father stamp set and patriotic Bo Bunny papers. When I have to make several cards, I try to follow one sketch, mix and match the papers from a collection and have coordinating inks, cardstock and embellishments on hand.
Father's-day-set
I used my pinking shears to add interest to the border strip. I embellished simply with coordinating twine. I spent no more than an hour making all 5 cards.
Father's-day
Here's the sketch I used for my cards. Feel free to use it and leave me a link to your creation.
My next card is something I shared on the Want2Scrap blog yesterday. This is also based on a sketch I made for The Craft's Meow's June Sketch Challenge.

The main panel is a Want2Scrap Manilla tag, which I stamped with Hero Arts woodgrain pattern stamp. The sentiment, frame and pocket watch are from The Craft's Meow's For My Dad set. I also stamped a strip of paper with cancelled postage image from TCM's Telegram set. The papers are Prima.
Time
The bling on my card is subtle, but I thought they were necessary. :) I adhered a row of three Want2Scrap Baby Bling Rhinestones Brown - 100 Count - 2.5 mm. on the bottom right of the tag. Buttons and burlap twine finish the card.
Time-det
Here is the sketch it's based on. Please link your card on the TCM blog for a chance to win some TCM stamps!
