Quietfire Designs Mixed Media Card Set

I am thrilled to be guest designing for Quietfire Designs this month. I love their exquisitely lettered sentiments that come in many sizes. I have a set of three cards to show you today. They all follow the same layout and together make a nice card set to give away as a gift. I do this a lot and the Quietfire Designs sentiment stamps are just the perfect focal point in each card.
QFD-Card-Set2

For all three, I first stamped the big Penny Black Awakening stamp in aqua, melon and light pink. I then heat embossed with white the lace stamp (from PB Lace Delight) on the bottom and leaves stamp (from PB Tweet Tweet) on the top. Starting from the corners, I then inked Distress inks (Brushed Corduroy and Antique Linen) to show the white embossed images. I made sure there's enough room on my panel to stamp my sentiments on. I then framed that panel with kraft cardstock before I mounted it with foam squares on card bases with coordinating colors. I embellished them with matching buttons and seam bindings with a small Want2Scrap pearl in the center.

My first card uses QFD's gorgeous Thinking of You stamp with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink to make sure it stands out.

This pink card is stamped with No Act of Kindness stamp. I just love that sentiment.

Finally, this card uses All Our Best Wishes stamp.

Thank you for joining me today and I hope you were inspired to create card sets with Quietfire Designs stamps.

One Penny Black stamp, Two Different Styles

I have two cards for you today using my Penny Black's Round and Round set. I was inspired by the very talented Jill Foster. That girl can do amazing things with different types of coloring media. I can look at her cards all day. I'm not very technique-oriented, so I admire those who do them so well.

Here's my attempt at emboss-resist with distress inks. I love this technique and have done it many times, but can't quite make it look the way I want it to. For today's card, I didn't intend to make it look crumpled, but in the process of blending the colors, I accidentally crumpled one corner. So I decided to go all the way :). Even the tear was not intended, but it kind of fits with the whole card.
PB-Round1
I think my problem in the past is I blend too much that it's hard to see the individual colors. Now I know better and will try this again.

For my next card, I decided to go ultra-feminine and use Copic markers. I made my own background paper by stamping the image multiple times. This took a while to color, but found it therapeutic. I worked on it with my daughter who likes to color as well.
PB-Round2
I colored the background with a yellow marker and intentionally made it look "messy" to get that marbled look. The sentiment is from Lace Delight. A little bit of ribbon button and twine were what I intended to use for embellishments. But I had color smudges on some of the flower centers. Instead of fixing that with my Copic blender pen, I just decided to put these enormous Melissa Frances pearls to hide them :).

This is it for me this week. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

So Blessed, New Stamps & Winners

Hello, friends! I have a new card, new stamps and the winners of the NinaB Designs blog hop to share with you today.

First my card...I used 3 of my Penny Black stamps: Lace Delight (the border on the bottom), Petal Party (flower) and So Blessed (sentiment). I had so much fun making this card. I used that Polaroid frame again.
PB-SB2
The die cut center is actually parchment paper cut using the Spellbinders Medallion Four die. Isn't it beautiful? The flower was colored with Copic markers. The leaves were die cut using my design, Spellbinders Little Leaves.

Crafty Friends Challenge #11

It's my turn to host the Crafty Friends Challenge and I have a photo color inspiration for you to today. I took this photo last summer in my in-laws' yard. I love the vibrant hues of that gorgeous butterfly.
The colors are perfect for the season of fall and the upcoming holidays, but the image can also inspire non-holiday projects, so there’s something here for everyone! Here is my card using Penny Black's Lace Delight stamp set as my background.
CFC-11
The butterfly is a die cut by Spellbinders that is anchored by a pretty paper flower.

Hello, beautiful people!

Jetlag...that nasty side effect of travel. I feel that as I get older, it's harder to get over it. My body is still so confused that it should be on Croatian time, not EST anymore. One upside is I get to stay up later when everybody else is asleep and have creative time in the wee hours of the night. I made today's card during one of those sleepless nights.

I used my Penny Black Lace Delights stamps on this. The dress form, sentiment and lace border (on the bottom, stamped directly onto the patterned paper). I can think of so many of my friends who fit this sentiment. They are all beautiful on the outside, even more on the inside. God has blessed me with so many people who bring beauty to my life, and that includes you who visit with me here regularly!

Here's a close up of the paper pieced dress. All the papers are from Collage Press' London Market collection. The dress was highlighted with a row of Want2Scrap pink pearls. Some seam binding with paper roses add more softness to the card.

Have a great weekend!
