Challenge Cards

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope you're having a relaxing day. I spent the morning worshiping with our church family, then sharing a great time around the dinner table with some friends.

I have two cards for you today for a couple of challenges.  First is for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge that The Craft's Meow is sponsoring. The challenge is to create a bright card with no neutrals. I tried really hard, but had to add the brown ink for the sentiment. I used Love Dwells Here, which coordinates with Spellbinders' Home Sweet Home dies for this card.

The papers are Authentique.Lively Collection. I highlighted the center sentiment with Want2Scrap Nestabling. The doily was die cut using Spellbinders Persian Motifs dies.

My second card is for the Crafty Friends Challenge. After a summer break, we are now back to the challenge. I am the hostess and it's a sketch challenge. Please go to the CFC blog for more info. Here is my take, which is an old card that I've shared previously.

Floral Frame

Hi, friends. I hope you are having a great Friday. Ours is wonderful because it's the beginning of Spring Break! We started by doing some spring cleaning. My girls weren't that thrilled, though, but this mama is happy to get some work done, so we can enjoy the rest of the week better.

Before I show you my card, I just was wondering if you've noticed the two new badges I have on my right sidebar? One of them is for the Lily Pad's 1st bday blog hop on Sunday and we're giving away tons of prizes from various companies. On Sunday, I will also be sharing my first project for the brand new bi-weekly challenge blog in town, Crafty Friends, which is headed by the super sweet Beate Johns. It's going to be fun!

I got to play with my new stamps and dies for today's card. The main image is from Penny Black's Flower Gallery set. As soon as I saw it, I knew it's something I'd use often. I made it look like a wall painting on my card below. That beautiful oval die is one of my favorites of the new Spellbinders dies. it's called Floral Ovals.
PB-Birthday
I love flowers and the sizes on this set are perfect for my (lack of) patience with Copic coloring :). It's an unusual color combo for me, but I picked the colors from the subtle background My Mind's Eye papers. The sentiment is from a retired set by Layers of Color, die cut with SB Ribbon Banner dies. I added some bling to the sides of the frame. They just seem to belong there :).

This little flower is also one of Spellbinders new dies called Bitty Blossoms. I put a small bling in the center that is hard to see on the photo. I embossed the leaves and inked the raised parts.

My sketch is inspired by Card Patterns. My card also follows the SSIC challenge this week. See you all back here on Sunday!

Butterfly in Black and White

Happy Monday! Today's card is for Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge. The sponsor this week is Layers of Color and the prize up for grabs is my  Encouragement clear art stamp set.

I used the brand new Silk Moth cling art, in addition to the Encouragement set. I heat embossed with white powder the butterfly on vellum for the top layer. The bottom layer was simply stamped in black ink.

Octopus Hugs

My card today uses the GinaK Make a Splash stamps by Asela. I colored the octopus with Copics. The papers are Cosmo Cricket Salt Air. The main image was die cut using Spellbinders Labels 17.

The sketch follows Deborah's card in the LilyPad Cards' Make This Card Beautiful Challenge. I'm also entering this to the Stampin' Sisters in Christ Challenge (to make a card for a child).

Living Room Birthday

I had so much fun making this card. It's reminiscent of one of my favorite cards from 2009. The stamps are Hero Arts' Wish You Were Here. The sentiment is SRM Stickers We've Got Your Stickers Happy. The papers are just scraps I found on my desk. The cream "base board" is embossed but it's hard to see on the photo. I added some bling on the chandelier and on the bottom.

I'm entering this to the following challenges: Stampin' Sisters in Christ (paper piecing), CPS (sketch); CR84FN (color combo), The Shabby Tea Room (inspiration photo), and Hero Arts' March 2011 challenge.

Easter and Thanks

I made the card below for last week's Card Patterns sketch 104, but just forgot to post it. I used my latest Christ is Risen set and Basic Grey Curio papers.
Nina Sketch 104
I made this card below for the Paper Crafts Magazine's Sketch for Card Makers call. I got two cards in that publication, but this one didn't make it. This was one of my favorites because I love quilts (but don't have the skills or patience to create a real one :-). The sentiment is from my Nana's Needlework Sentiments and papers by October Afternoon. This was based on sketch #77. You can download all the sketches HERE. And I'm not sure if it qualifies, but I'm entering it to Moxie Fab's Paper Piecing Challenge.

This is also perfect for the Stampin' Sisters in Christ current challenge. I think every other card I make qualifies for their challenge because I just love buttons :-). I especially love the short lesson on the names of God in the Bible found in the SSIC post. What a great reminder of the Great God we serve!
Thanks Sew Much
Have a great weekend, everyone!
