Hello Sunflower Card

I have another card today inspired by mixed media. I am really enjoying the process in making these cards. I usually don't do techniques, but am inspired to try new things. I created a Mixed Media-Inspired Pinterest board specifically for this type of cards as I see myself doing this more regularly.

For today's card, I made a collage background using Penny Black's Music Background, Love Chapter set and Flourishes Sunflowers.  I stamped them with Versamark ink and heat embossed with white. I then sponged various Memento inks (Cantaloupe, Rhubarb Stalk, Potter's Clay, Pear Tart and Rich Cocoa) on the embossed panel.
I
I water colored the sunflower using Memento inks as well. I colored the sentiment from Stitched Sentiments set with Copics to coordinate with the background colors. I adhered random Want2Scrap LeCreme pearls where I thought they were needed :)

As a final step, I sprayed Tsukineko's Goosebumps all over my card. This product was part of a prize package I won a while ago and I didn't know what to do with it, so it sat in a shelf. But let me tell you, I LOVE it! Instant texture that leaves a beautiful effect, don't you think?

The colors were inspired by Flourishes's Colorful Creations Challenge. I'll be back with more mixed media-inspired cards. For now, I have to tend to my sick family. It seems we're taking turns with a nasty cold. Have a good one!

Happy Birthday Roses

I have been swamped with design deadlines and missing spring. Yes, that white stuff in the background of my card below is snow! We got at least 6 inches yesterday.

I thought I needed a break from computer work and make something with my hands. I saw the Flourishes Colorful Challenge and was inspired to enter. I took out my Copics to color these Lenten Roses stamps, probably my favorite of their stamps.

Here it is close up. The sentiment is from SRM's WGYB Birthday. The papers are My Mind's Eye and pearls by Want2Scrap.

A Couple of Challenge Cards

It has been a while since I participated in a challenge. I had some free time this weekend, so I went ahead and made these. The first one is for the Penny Black's Fresh Cut Challenge to "create something that focuses on fussy cutting, using punches and die cuts!" Easy enough, don't you think? The main image on my card was fussy cut. I used Penny Black's adorable Sweet Day stamp set.
PB-Sweet
I colored the cute image with Copics. I kind of messed up the dress and strawberries. I think it's because of the paper I used. But I guess these imperfections are what make handmade cards special :). The sentiment is from TCM's Life is a Carnival set.

My next card is for the Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Challenge to use glitter. I used Flourishes' Summer blossom stamp set and colored them with Copics as well.

You can see more clearly the glitter I used on the flower centers. The papers on both cards are by My Little Shoebox.

I hope you're having a great day!

Thanks a Bunch

It's a sad day for me as this is my last post as Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday Guest DT. I have had a great time, creating with their beautiful stamps. I made this card for the Flourishes family for allowing me to be part of theirs this month. Thank you so much!

The theme for this week's Timeless Tuesday is to make the focal image fall off the page. For my card, I placed the gorgeous flowers off the top of my card base. The flowers are from the With Gratitude stamp set, which I colored with Copic markers (from the Lenten Rose Collection).
Flourishes
I love the sentiments in this set. The papers are Collage Press' London Market. I highlighted the small flowers and sentiments with Want2Scrap pearls.

Celebrate the Season

I'm here with my card for the Timeless Tuesday Challenge by Flourishes as this month's Guest DT. The challenge is to create a winter-themed project. I decided to create a wintery background using the detailed images from Seasonal Wreaths. I just love these beautiful wreaths that are perfect not just for the holidays, but year-round.

Flourishes-Winter
I did the Emoss-Resist Technique on my card using various Memento inks. The border is a die cut using Spellbinders' Asian Accents, which I designed for Spellbinders. I just love the pop of red, don't you? I highlighted the wreaths by adding Want2Scrap bling. The sentiment is by SRM Stickers.

Wishing You...

Hello, friends! Today's card is my second project as a Guest DT for this month's Timeless Tuesday Challenge by Flourishes. The challenge is to think treats. When I first read that, I immediately thought of paper crafting treats. So I packaged one of my favorite embellishments, paper roses, in an SRM tube, and created a tag to go with it. I used the solid girl image and sentiment from Kids' Play stamp set. It's just the perfect image for this pretty little gift.
Flourishes-treats2
I used Spellbinders' Fancy Tags Two, one of my new designs from Summer CHA, to frame the sentiment. The papers are by Carta Bella. I embellished the tag with some vintage lace, seam binding, buttons, Want2Scrap bling, and of course, a paper rose.

Some fun news!

I am excited to share you my first card for this month as Flourishes' Guest DT for their Timeless Tuesday Challenge. I have been a BIG fan of Flourishes stamps and own quite a collection of their sets. Their gorgeous images allow me to practice on my Copic coloring skills. I just love them all! I will be joining the Timeless Tuesday team all month. The theme this week is Think Pink to celebrate the Breast Cancer Awareness month of October.

For today's card, I colored my Lenten Rose image with Copics as my focal point. I just love these delicate flowers. The sentiment is also from this set, which I die cut with Spellbinders' Classic Circle die. The papers are by Carta Bella. I stamped another image from the set with pink ink directly on the patterned paper. I like that effect as it allows you to create a coordinating pattern to go with your main stamped image.
Flourishes-TT1
Here you can see a close up of the rose with the different shading using Copics. I used the Copic Sketch Lenten Rose collection, plus R89 to create the darker contrast. the leaves were colored with various green markers. I adorned my card with lace, seam binding, paper rose and a strip of Want2Scrap Le Creme bling.

I hope you can join us this week for Timeless Tuesday. I can't wait to share my other Flourishes creations with you all for the whole month of October.

Spring Bouquet

My friends, Beate and Heather, have been inspiring me to use my Flourishes stamps and Copic markers. Here's a card for Flourishes' Motherly Love challenge. It also works with the Lovely in Lace challenge but just read that you can't combine your entry with challenges. I'm a newbie to their challenges, though I've been a big fan of their stamps and DT members. Since the Mother's Love didn't say anything about  not combining challenges, I hope it's okay that I'm combining this with two others: CAS-ual Friday (something you'll find inside an Easter basket...flowers, of course!) and Simon Says Stamps Challenge (April Showers).

Since I spent a lot of time on the coloring, I made the rest of the card super simple. The little swirly bling is by Want2Scrap. It's hard to see on the photo, but the bow is chocolate brown.
Grandma-Bouquet
And speaking of Copic markers, Two Peas in a Bucket is selling their Copic markers at 50% off today only! This is the cheapest I've ever seen them.
