The second card was for last week's Card Patterns' sketch. All supplies are by Stampin' Up!, except for the die cut border and doily (Spellbinders Floral Doily Accents and Motifs).
Finally don't forget my 2nd blog anniversary giveaway. More details HERE. The winner will be picked from one of the commenters all week. And make sure you check out the Subscriber/Follower only giveaway, too!
I have a couple of projects for you today that use the colors of my husband's favorite college team, the Georgia Bulldogs. And this color combo of red and black is one of my favorites, too.
This next project is for the SRM Stickers Gift Holders Challenge issued to the DT. Here's my take, a special bag and tag for a special mom. I used the SRM WGYS Sweet. I did the same technique again with the lace here. The papers are K&Co. I used my Cuttlebug alpha dies for "MOM."
I'm slowly recovering from the busy-ness of CHA, but feel so inspired by all the new products and people I met while there. I can't wait to play with the new products. :-)
In the meantime, I am so excited to show off today's cards for the special Gina K Designs Blast from the Past Hop. I have two cards to show you using three sets that were released in 2009. It was so good to play with these again.
The first card follows the elegant and classy style (perfect for Moxie Fab's Elegant Style contest) uses my Lord of the Season and Elegant Verses sets. The flower topiary was colored with Copics and accented with pearls. The verse was heat embossed with white.
This card uses my first GinaK Designs set, Special Fathers. The background diagonals is a PP by The Paper Studio. Doesn't it look like wall paper? The white strip is scored with a ScorPal to create the baseboard look.
For even more samples of some of our favorite 'Blast from the Past' GinaK Designs stamp sets, check out these participating designers' blogs:
The entire GinaK Designs team would like to invite you to the virtual Release party we'll be having this Thursday, August 5th on StampTV. It will be a bit different than our usual release party, but we'll still have challenges, contest questions, and designer samples that you won't want to miss out on! More information on that event will be shared by GinaK soon, so stay tuned to her blog for all the details this week.
I know this is late news, but have you seen the new Go To Sketch magazine by Paper Crafts? It's chock full of inspiration. I have three cards in it and I'm sharing one of them here. This uses one of my early sets, Lord of the Season.
And here's a card created by one of my Designing Friends this month, Justine. I just love her sense of humor. She's so clever to use the distressed ribbon stamp and created the tread marks. You can find out more info about this card HERE. And while you're there, check this beauty out too.
Welcome to Scrapbook News and Review Magazine's A Faith Perspective Thankful for Friends Faith Blog Hop. I am excited to be a part of this group as we all celebrate and proclaim our Savior Jesus Christ and give Him glory through our artwork. We're celebrating the theme of friends and we're happy to share our projects with you based on the verse:
"Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. " Ecc4:9-10a
One of the biggest blessings I have for knowing Christ is the wonderful relationship I have with my brothers and sisters in Him who love and faithfully pray for me and my family. As missionaries, we are often the beneficiaries of many saints' faithful prayers and that is a treasure beyond we deserve.
I have traveled around the globe and have met many people from different cultures. I found that whenever I visit a church in another country, I immediately connect with the people there, even if we don't speak the same language. Our common love for Christ and God's saving grace in our lives bring an instant connection between us.
I have found that this is also true when "meeting" the many stamping sisters in the Lord through cyberspace, who share my love for papercrafting. I have been blessed many times over by the inspiration, encouraging comments, RAKs and prayers of so many of you. Thank you and I thank God for you! He is good for even bringing you all to my blog today! May we all grow in our love for Him, who deserves all our praise and glory.
For this hop, I used my Lord of the Season set by GinaK Designs. It includes 4 topiaries, a Bible verse and a quote proclaiming Christ IS the Lord of the seasons, thus we can depend on Him at all times.

I am so glad you joined us today featuring my new stamp set, Lord of the Season. Since the gift-giving season is upon us, I thought I'd share two projects with you using this all occasion set - one that takes a little bit more effort and another that can be easily mass produced.
Lord of the Season is a perfect set to make handmade desk calendars with because each season is represented with a topiary image. I made about 50 handmade calendars last year and I think i might do it again this year. First is one that I will make for hostesses or dear friends and family, who enjoy handmade gifts. It takes about an hour to make, so this may not be ideal for mass production.
Long Desk Calendar. I used Green Apple, Cranberry Tart, Soft Sand, PL White cardstocks. You really need to use good quality, thick cardstock for the covers, so the calendar can sit well on your desk, especially when you put a lot of embellishments on it. Click on the photos for a larger view.
Look how well it stands with GinaK's Green Apple for covers.
And the rest of the stamped images inside:
The patterned papers I used are digital papers from GinaK Designs: Bug Me Anytime Pastel, Vintage Holly, and Grungy Elegance packs. I colored the images with Copics and stitched around. A simple stringed button embellished each one.
In order to make this, I created a Calendar Template that you can download >>>Calendar Template HERE<<<. And you can download the tutorial on how I made this >>>Calendar Tutorial HERE<<<.
Desk Calendar for Mass Production. I designed the second calendar so you can make a few in an hour. This also uses the Calendar Template. The tutorial on how I made this is found towards the end of this post. Not only is this super easy to make, it is also economical. It uses 1 sheet heavy weight cardstock ($0.30), 3 sheets of layering weight paper ($0.62), string, ribbon ($0.25), button and scraps of paper. The total amounts to less than $2 a piece and the result is beautiful and lovingly handmade by you. Click on the photos for a larger view.
Please scroll below to read how I made this calendar.
If you make either calendar, please leave me a comment so I can see. And if you want to have a chance to win this set, leave a comment at Gina's blog.
For even more ideas with my Lord of the Season stamp set, visit the blog links below, as well as the GinaK Idea Center here: Lord of the Season.
2. Cut the full sheet of heavy weight cardstock in half and cut one of the halves in half, as shown. I used Moonlit Fog.
3. Score the half cardstock at the 4.25" mark and one of the quarter panels at 2.125," then fold. My ScorPal comes in handy for this step.
4. Put strong adhesive on the edges of the folded half sheet. I used Scor tape.
5. Adhere both folded panels as shown.
This is what you should have now.
6. Now, you're ready to decorate the front panel. You can make this as elaborate or as simple as you'd like. I stamped my topiary and colored it with Copics. I found scraps of paper and used those. The 2010 is die cut using my Cuttlebug. You can use chipboards, stickers, cut out printed text or handwritten note, if you want. A few stitching and ribbon finished the front.
7. Mark the upper part of the front panel, the back cover and the calendar months on the 1.5" and 4" marks as shown. Hole punch where you made the marks.
8. Thread string or ribbon through the holes and you're done.
I found that GinaK's medium clear boxes are perfect to package this. Or if you want to include a few coordinating cards, they will fit easily in the large size. It's sturdy enough for mailing, too.
I hope this gives you another idea for gifts this Christmas, handmade and from the heart.
One of the greatest joys of having my own line of stamps is that I get to pick a Guest DT to help promote my GinaK stamps. I have so many talented friends and it's always difficult to decide whom to ask. I always try to pick one whose style fits the stamp images being released. For this month's Lord of the Season set, I asked someone who not only is a talented artist, but also shares my love for the Lord. As the name indicates, Lord of the Season celebrates Christ as one who is Lord of everything and at all times.
It is my honor to introduce you to my good cyber-friend and fellow sister in Christ, Crystal, who agreed to be my Guest DT for this month. Here's a bit of info about her.
How long have you been paper crafting and how did you get started? I've been papercrafting since 1992. A neighbor had a holiday bazaar in her home and there was an SU demo... I was hooked !!
What are your current favorite:
Techniques - Paper piecing and tole
Tools- Oh my, it's the Cuttlebug ! I love that thing ! I'm longing for a travel size version ! LOL!
Embellishments- Ribbon and gemstones... they finish off a card so nicely without looking weighed down or gaudy. ( nothing wrong with those ... just not quite my style !)
Coloring mediums - Copics and watercoloring
What inspires you to create? It's usually a color combination that catches my eye... in clothing or a magazine or outdoors. Blog hopping and doing the challenges will do it too.
Tell us something about your family. My husband is really terrific about encouraging and cheering on my hobby ( although I might catch him "choking" on the supply spending !) I have three great sons ... two in college and the youngest , a senior in high school. We have been a big sports family and love the outdoors, traveling and spending time with people.
What is your favorite quote/verse that you live by? "The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you. He will quiet you with His love. He will rejoice over you with singing. " - Zeph. 3:17
Now, feast your eyes on Cyrstal's beautiful cards, using Lord of the Season. Aren't they gorgeous? She's Copic Certified and I can learn a thing or twelve from her coloring.
Make sure you check out Crystal's blog. I know you will not be disappointed. And she'll be joining the Lord of the Season blog hop on Oct 16! Woohoo and I can't wait to show you what I've made. It's something so different from what I usually make, but quite easy to mass produce in time for Christmas. Stay tuned!
I've been paper crafting like crazy for upcoming blog hops, submissions and church-related events, but can't quite share them with you yet. I made these a few days ago and the sketch for both follows 2Sketches4you and the stitching follows the Crazy4Challenges. The pretty flowers follow the Stampin' Sisters in Christ challenge this week to "show the "earth rejoicing"... flowers blooming, oceans roaring, trees bursting with fruit, mountains and hills 'clapping'." And the different embellies follow the Pile It On 3-dimensional challenge.
For the first card, I did a checkerboard design instead of the polka dots from the sketch and made the circle a bit off centered. The quote on this card is perfect for the SSIC challenge. It says, "O magnify the Lord with me...He is the soul's unfailing spring, its full orbed summer noon, the autumn of its harvesting, its winter's restful boon" by Calvin Laufer.
Stamps: Lord of the Season (GinaK Designs) Paper: In the Navy (GKD), Bravo Burgundy, Autumn Leaves PP Ink: Cream pigment Other: ribbon trim by Offray, sewing machine, flowers by Joanns and Prima
For the second card, I flipped the sketch sideways. This card uses two of my favorite things right now: lace and Soft Sand cardstock.
My girls had a day off yesterday from school, so we hit the town shopping for birthday gifts. It was a great day to spend together as a family. I had some great finds, too. I get excited when I find something here that I can use on my cards. Paper crafting is still a novelty here, so craft stores are pretty much non-existent. I got a few ribbons and goodie bags to alter for Christmas.
I have a few cards to share with you today. The first two follow the Crazy4Challenges to use stitching on your card. First, CardPatterns has a neat sketch to use this week:
And here is my card, using an adorable snowman image from The Angel Company. The sentimentis from GinaK Designs, Warm Winter Wishes. I used Pink Pirouette and Certainly Celery CS, PP is from Rob&Bob Studios. I paper pieced the snowman's hat and scarf.
The sponsor this week is Chris Franco, an Independent Demonstrator with The Angel Company (TAC). TAC offers rubber stamps in a variety of styles, unique papers, fantastic tools and accessories. Chris will be giving away $15 Gift certificate from TAC. So, come join us!
Over the weekend, I was able to participate in a few SCS challenges in honor of World Cardmaking Day! Here are a couple of cards I made.
And here is a close up of the card. I had so much fun coloring these little flowers from my Lord of the Season set. The quote is from Elegant Verses and it fits perfectly with this image.
Here's a simple card highlighting one of the quotes from the Lord of the Season set. I stamped one of the topiaries in Creamy Caramel. That ribbon is from a local textile shop I found and it's a perfect match to GinaK's beautiful Soft Sand CS. I think it's supposed to be a trim for pants' hem, but I think it makes a perfect ribbon :-).
