NinaB Designs April 2013 Blog Hop, Giveaway and Winner!

Welcome to the NinaB Designs Blog Hop! The theme of this month's hop is Stamping Techniques. I challenged the team to do a technique, which could be as simple as coloring, die-cutting or more involved like emboss resist, making your own embellishments, etc.

I have two cards for you today. The first one uses a few techniques: fussy cutting, Copic coloring on the flower (Penny Black's Dahlias set), die cutting, embossing and stenciling the jar (Spellbinders' Homespun dies). I also made a background and tag for my sentiments using stamps from Penny Black's Embellishments set.

The sentiment is from PB's Treemendous set. The paper strip is from PB's Madison. A little bit of twine and button on the jar finish the card.

My second card uses my new The Craft's Meow's Take the Cake set. The techniques I used here are die cutting, fussy cutting, and 2-step stamping.

The papers are October Afternoon. The pearls are Want2Scrap. The die cut doily is Spellbinders' Persian Motifs dies.

NinaB Designs September Blog Hop

EDIT: Some of the links may be off in the team members' blogs. Please use the list on my blog for the updated links. Thank you!

Hello, friends! After a much needed summer break, the NinaB Designs team is back to showcase some of my designs for our monthly hop. Make sure you check out the new Summer CHA Releases by Spellbinders, Want2Scrap and Penny Black, and my monthly release by The Craft's Meow.

For this month's hop, I challenged the team to create something with gift-giving in mind. Here are my projects. First is a set of tags that used Spellbinders' Homespun dies, Penny Black Free Flight stamps (background on tag) and The Craft's Meow stamps for the sentiments (Life is a Carnival and Love Dwells Here).

Here is a close up of the pie die cut. I just love how you can mix and match the top and bottom parts with different patterns. The sentiment is from TCM's Life is a Carnival.
NBD-Tag1
Here's a close up of the basket with a small tag die cut using Spellbinders' Home Sweet Home dies and TCM's Love Dwells Here. The tags are Want2Scrap Manilla Tags..
NBD-Tag2
My second project is a card set using S5-088 Sewing Elements dies and TCM Sew Lovely stamps. This is the box I packaged the cards in.

I shared one of the cards in this set on a previous post. I'll be sharing the other two in a future post!

Everybody is welcome to comment and eligible to win. I will announce the winners on  September 22 right here. Due to the number of prizes being given away on my blog and my dependence on my mom to do the shipping, I have to ask that the winners email (via Contact tab above) me with their info within 4 days (till September 26) in order to claim the  prize. This will help with organization and avoiding confusion. Thanks for understanding!

Smiles

I'm sharing today a card I had posted on the Want2Scrap blog a few days ago. I paired my favorite bling with Niki Sivils papers  (Exit Here collection) and Spellbinders dies (my brand new licensed design called Homespun).

I love the bright colors of this collection that make me feel more summery, even though fall is just around the corner. The mason jar is from Spellbinders' Homespun set. I embossed and stenciled the designs on it with some Clearsnap inks. The sentiment is from The Craft's Meow's Stitched Sentiments set. It's framed with the gorgeous Want2Scrap's Nestabling Fancy Tags Two White Pearl.

The card is embellished by a paper doily, seam binding and Want2Scrap's Red Rose Ribbon 1" that you can see up close here.

I hope you have a wonderful day. I have another Niki Sivils card for you next week!

Spellbinders™ Summer Spectacular! Day Three

Hello, friends. Welcome to Spellbinders Paper Arts’ Blog Frenzy for its Summer CHA 2012 Release. I hope you have been enjoying the projects the Spellbinders team has been showing so far. I am truly excited to be showcasing to you two of my Licensed Designs today. They are perfect for cards, scrapbooks, home décor and other projects.
I made these cards with gift giving in mind. The main elements on them were die cut magnet sheets that were embellished with paper and felt using the Homespun S4-142 dies. Not only are you giving away a handmade card, but also a handmade gift that the recipient can use every day at home.
Magnet cards
These are not difficult to make and can be easily mass produced using the different shapes of the Home Spun die set.
I first die cut magnet sheets, which you can purchase at any office supplies store. Or even better, you can upcycle the magnets you receive in the mail along with your junk mail, if you live in places where these are regularly sent to you. The magnet sheets die cut like butter in the Spellbinders™ Grand Calibur® machine! It took no effort at all. If you have no access to magnet sheets, you can use any magnet as long as it's smaller than the die cut. Simply attach it to the back of the die cut cardstock or patterned papers.

I then die cut patterned papers that I used to cover the magnet. This is the perfect way to use scraps of papers you have laying around your work desk.

If your magnet sheet is not thick enough, you can die cut heavy card stock to make your magnets sturdier, like I did here.

I adhered together all die cut layers (magnet sheet, cardstock and patterned papers), including the basket liner.

I embellished my assembled magnets with different elements, such as twine, bling and felt flowers, which were also die cut using the Home Spun dies.

I die cut a circle from heavy cardstock and adhered it to the almost finished card with foam tape. I adhered the magnet to the cardstock using repositionable tape.

Magnets-card2
The sentiments are from The Craft's Meow's Simply Delightful stamp set. The papers are by October Afternoon.

As you can see, it was not hard to make these at all. And I just love the results. Because the magnets were adhered using repositionable tape, it can be easily peeled off the card and placed on the refrigerator door. How about you? Do you make gifts to give away?

Speaking of gift giving, I made these ornaments using my other licensed design, Sweet Folk Art S5-141 dies. I die cut wool felt and stitched most of the cut pieces on them. If you prefer not to sew, any fabric glue or hot glue gun would work as well. These would be so fun to make, even with your kids. And what a special gift to give away when the whole family took part in the process!
