Stitched!

This little piece is such a fast stitch!  I beaded the letters and exclamation point with some navy lined clear beads, added some red ones as painted, and found a cool button to dot the i!

Quick and funny!

This is a Kathy Schenkel design that is x2 x 3.5 on 18 count.  It is a fast stitch as you can see.  I have worked the border and background in #8 Kreinik 014.  The checkered border is  #8 003 and 100.  The inner border is #8 in 823. I have to do the beads and the star yet.

This one is finished!

I completed the finishing on the purse ornament. This piece is by Kathy Schenkel also.
First, I used a pink moire for the backing. I stitched around the outside edge, with the sewing machine, believe it! Then I turned it inside out, and put a little bit of quilt batting in it so it pouches out like a purse does. Next, I hand sewed a gold trim all around the outside edge, and then added two gold beads for the closure. Last I stitched a gold chain on for the handle. It is really so cute! This is for Peyton's little sister Kailyn, my great niece. Both pieces will soon be on their way to Grand Rapids to them!

It is a finish UPDATED!

Here is a better photo!

Tonight I finished finishing the Penguin stocking--try saying that fast five times! This is a Kathy Schenkel design that I stitched for my great nephew, Peyton. I lined the inside with white satin and the back is blue moire to match the water. I stitched the gold braid trim around the top, just at the seam where the lining meets the canvas front and moire back. I used #4 Kreinik to stitch this down. Then, I tucked the little penguin in the top. Unfortunately, I set this against black velvet to take the picture and his arms are hard to see! But he really does have them:

I finished the cube!

I hope you remember the Kathy Schenkel sheep cube canvas I stitched a while back. I finally finished the ornament into the little cube. I did a binding stitch to close all the seams and form the box. Before closing the last seam, I stuffed quilt batting inside the cube, and then stitched it closed. Last, I tied the ribbon included with the canvas into a package ribbon and attached the ceramic heart that was also included. This is one of the canvases for my family in Michigan. It is hanging on an ornament stand so you can see how it will hang on my niece's tree.

Back to the White In a Purple Passion tomorrow!

The stars are in the sky

and the grass is green under their little tootsies! Yes, this piece is finished. I used a single strand of Rainbow Gallery Tiara and did cross stitch on each of the stars in the sky. I have to back stitch all the way around the outside for finishing this into the little package/cube.

Baa, Baa Eight Sheep

I finished the sheep in the Angora tonight! I also worked a little bit more on the green Splendor box base. I was hoping to finish this tonight, but ran out of time. I plan on finishing the green tomorrow night, as well as doing all the stars in the sky.

Five sheep and the sky

I finished the sky, all the sheep's ears and fee, and five little fuzzy Angora bodies! The grass under their feet is also done, and part of the bottom flap as well! I alternate stitching the bodies with the other Splendor stitching, as pulling the Angora through the canvas is difficult. I am using a larger needle to open the holes, but it stitch requires a lot of pull! However, it is the look I want for all the little sheeps! They are just so darn cute!

More blue skies

I am working my way across the blue sky. You can see that I have left the stars to do last, and all at once! I should finish the sky on Saturday and start on the sheep!

A Penguin and some blue sky

I made some progress on the blue sky after putting all the decorations away! This is Splendor 867, and I am using four plies. Now, on to the penguin debate. The penguin stocking came with the little penguin that goes in the stocking. Pierrette, of Love to Stitch, and Jane, of Chilly Hollow, are having a great time in the comments sections on previous posts. Pierrette thought I was/should be making him! My response: I would have except I am busy making my own needles, and twisting my own threads! So, here is the Penguin. He is patiently waiting for me to finish the stocking.

The Sheep Cube

This is another Kathy Schenkel design. It is a cube after I have it all stitched! Then it is tied like a package with the red ribbon and white ceramic heart you see in the bottom left corner. I pulled all the colors of Splendor and one Tiara that this cube will be stitched in. I then started putting in the sky with four strands of blue.
Pierrette asked about the penguin for the stocking. The penguin came with the canvas, so I don't have to make one to stuff it with. I do have to make the stocking with the lining to hold it! But, not today! LOL

The stocking is finished.

I added Peyton's name in cross stitches with Nordic Gold, and then I added three and sometimes four stitches all the way around the outside of the stocking. This, of course, is going to make it easier when it comes time to finish the stocking. Remember this one has a little stuffed penguin to fit inside of the actual stocking, so this one will have a lining and a backing. I will set this aside in the finishing pile along with the others until I get ready to start all of them at once.

Added Feet and Water!

I used the yellow Splendor and created the little lines that hold the fish on the red line. I filled in his tail with more of the black Neon Rays +. Next I did the frog in green Splendor 907 and did a black cross stitch for his eye. I then worked the lily pad in the white Splendor. The fish were next with gray Splendor 947 and more black cross stitched eyes. Next his feet are done with the yellow Splendor and more black but in tent stitches. The water worked up very quickly using the blue Splendor in the Diagonal Triple Parisian stitch. I found this stitch in my even More Stitches for Effect book this weekend!
Almost done!

A scarf and a fishing line....

So sorry for the picture quality! I thought it was okay when I took it, but it is a little blurry! You can, however, see that I completed his scarf using Neon Rays + in squares of red and green using the Fishbone stitch. I filled in his chest with the white Splendor and then used red Splendor to complete his fishing line.
Jane, I hope to get to his silk feet tomorrow! LOL

A head and wings

I used Black Neon Rays + to do the head and wings, so while it does not sparkle much in the picture, it does real time. Then I used white Splendor for his head, black Splendor to cross stitch his eyes, and finally Splendor 908 for the yellow beak. Jane noticed how cute his feet are, and I'm a goin as fast as I can! LOL
More surprises on this one to come!

The stocking has a background

I hope you all had a very merry Christmas! I also hope if you had to travel, that you made it with very few issues. The news has been full of weather issue stories, and we are glad we were at home. We only traveled to go out for brunch, and then returned home.
Today, I got back to stitching!
Remember this is the Kathy Schenkel Penguin mini stocking for my great nephew Peyton. I did the outline of the top section in Splendor 860 blue, and then did the basket weave background in Splendor 802 white. I used four strands of fiber for all of these stitches. Since I will be putting color up next to the white, I decided it would be better to have all of that filled in so none of the colors would fuzz into the white.
Next up: Starting the penguin!

A mini stocking for Peyton

This is the Kathy Schenkel design that my niece picked out for my great nephew, Peyton. He is a great penguin design!
When I finish the stocking, the little guy below gets tucked in the top! He comes with the canvas--a great bonus! I will pull all my threads tonight and get started on this little cutie!

Two photos!

First, I finally got a photo of the Mornin' Luv all framed up. I took Laura Perrin's advice and lightly shaded, with my brown colored pencil, around the outside and then lighter out to the edges.
The mat is a wine color to pick up the darker shading in his hat and compliment his shorts and slippers. The frame itself is a bronze metal color.
I finished the tent stitches all around the purse so it is ready to be finished. I am going to set this aside for now and do a batch of finishing all at once.

A finished purse

I finished the second pass of the Serendipity Stitch using Crystal Braid going in the opposite direction. Next, I will stitch around the outside of the painted canvas for finishing. The two gold beads at the top are done at finishing.
