Scandinavian Prints Tags with Rebecca Luminarias

Happy Friday!  Our May guest designer Rebecca Luminarias is back with us today sharing a set of beautiful tags.  Here she is with all the details:

Hi everyone! I'm so happy to be back guesting for Neat & Tangled again on this TGIF! Today I have a set of tags that I made using the Scandinavian Prints dies.

The concept is fairly straightforward; I arranged the dies to make a flower (or 2) on the tag, then cut it out. I made 2 tags with the negatives and 2 tags from the pieces I cut out.

They're both very simple, but I love the folk-inspired outcome. They almost remind me of my mom's quilts.

For the tags where I used the negatives, I added some patterned paper behind the tag. It's a pink and navy blue floral print and offers a bold contrast against the white cardstock.

On this tag, I chose a pink ink to stamp "thank you" (from the Sweet Treats Sentiments set), with the little flourishes stamped in blue. I also added some lace and glitter elements, finishing off with navy blue seam binding.

The next tag is similar, but I used a different flower shape and a different "thank you," this one included in the Scandinavian Prints stamp set. While there are the textural elements, I chose to keep the tags minimal otherwise so that the focus would be the cut-out flowers themselves.

After completing those 2 tags, I took the white cut out pieces and made two more tags with them. I actually really liked the plain white shapes against the plain white stock, but in the end, I decided to add in some color. I stamped each flower bloom with a matching stamp in pale pink. I tested out the darker pink ink, too, but in the end, I just liked the soft pink better against the backdrop of navy tulle.

I did keep the stems and leaves plain white in order to draw more attention to the blush blooms. I stamped "thank you" again and cut it down to a small strip of paper, which I adhered to the tags using 3-dimensional foam dots.

It's always fun to use the dies in a slightly unexpected way. When I started this project, my idea was to cut out a bunch of flowers and piece them together to make the tags, not unlike the last two tags. But almost by accident, I cut out the single flower just perfectly to inspire the cut-out tags. Adding the paper behind them really made them pop, too, and this project took a slight detour. But you know what they say about the road less travelled...

Thanks for having me again today! Happy making!

Die cut shaker tag | VIDEO | Natalie Elphinstone

I couldn't help it! The first time I laid eyes on that cute Panda Die from the latest release I just knew it had to be made into a shaker tag. Who's with me?!

One thing that makes this shaker tag different from most is that each individual shaker component is separate from each other. Meaning each eye is a separate window, as is each ear, and the nose. The sections don't mix with each other which opens up so many more possibilities! In fact, next time I make this I'd love to fill each part with different mixes of sequins. I would make the eyes a different colour to it's ears and nose. Or fill all 5 with a different colour like a colour wheel! Wouldn't that be cool?!

There were many ways I could have gone with this but I decided to keep the design fairly clean and simple, and the colours fairly traditional on this occasion. I also opted to turn it into a tag instead of a card for something different. The Classic Tag 2 die set is the perfect size to fit the whole of the Panda head on it to make it the real focal point, whilst leaving just enough space around the edges to do a touch of embellishing. I chose one of the sayings from the So Many Sentiments stamp set and used two colours of ink to create a subtle ombre effect which matches the colours of the Wild Orchid sequin mix

In my video today I'm going to share how I created this tag from start to finish. It's so much easier than you might imagine!

Neat & Tangled / Hemptique Collaboration, Week 3

It's Week 3 of our collaboration with Hemptique!

Each Tuesday this month design team members are showcasing projects that combine Neat & Tangled and Hemptique products.  Be sure to leave comments on these posts as we'll pick a lucky commenter to win a Hemptique prize pack at the end of the month.

We've got quite the line-up for you today, Amy, Elena, and Laura are sharing their projects.  First up is Amy with a project using the Hemptique Handmade Hemp Paper and Orange Hemp Cord:

I've combined it with the Hello from the Better Together stamp set.

I finished my card off with Crystal Clear Sequins.  The Handmade Hemp Paper adds great texture to the overall design.  It reminds me of watercolor + mulberry paper.

I had so much fun with the collaboration, I also have a different project up on my blog!

Next we have Elena, with a card using the Hemptique handmade paper and grey hemptique cord.

I stamped images from Better Together, and mounted them onto a rectangle of torn Hemptique paper. The texture is so great! I also ran some of that same paper through the die-cutter and then stamped the sentiment onto a banner flag. The Hexastar die created the perfect backdrop for the images, and I finished everything off with the dark grey hemp twine.

And finally, Laura who created this wonderfully texture tag using the Scandinavian Prints stamps & dies, our Classic Tag 1 Die, and of course Hemptique paper & twine.

We'll be back next Tuesday with some more projects featuring Hemptique as well as another chance to win!  If you don't already, be sure to like Hemptique's Facebook page and tell them we sent you.  There just might be a giveaway over there towards the end of the month.  ;)

Happy Holidays

And here's Taheerah's project:

I had so much fun combining Santa's Tags with Merry Little Christmas to make this adorable tag! I stamped the arms of the little girl, upside-down, first, then inked up all but her arms and stamped again - this made her look like she's throwing her hands up in the air instead of having them down at the side, a completely different look!

I wanted it to look like she was throwing all the presents in the air at you, so I adhered all the presents with varying dimension, with the biggest gift (from Santa's Ride) having the most so it really looks like it's coming at you! So much fun!

It’s not a party without a prize - and with prizes every day there are several chances to win! Today’s prize is supplied by us, Neat & Tangled and we're giving away a $25 gift certificate - so you’ll definitely want to get your hands on it! Inlaid Die-Cutting with a Dala Horse

Hey everyone!

Mayuri here to share a card that teams the Dala Horse dies with a bit of inlaid die-cutting!

©Candles in the Garden. Neat and Tangled Monthly Post MAR2015. Dala Horse Inlaid Die-Cutting.

I created a card and matching tag using minimal supplies - a few scraps of coloured paper, the two Dala Horse dies and a couple of stamp sets for the sentiments (though these could come from anywhere).

I've been using this technique on a few cards recently, and really like the result. I basically die-cut concentric squares out of various coloured paper using some square nesting dies. This gave me lots of coloured square frames, which were then inlaid back into one another onto a piece of scrap white paper, starting with the smallest and working my way out to the largest.

Once I was happy, I took the Dala Horse dies and die-cut the large and small horses out of my concentric square piece. I foam mounted the large one to a card base, and the small one to a tag.

On the card front, I stamped a sentiment from Dala Horse and on the tag, one from Scandinavian Flowers, with black dye ink. To finish, I added a wood veneer star on both horses and pulled some red twine through the tag ;-)

Thanks for looking!

Tangled Up in Christmas Day 22: Christmas Gifts

Hello! This is Pamela for Day 22 for Tangled Up in Christmas. Let me show you what Christmas favours I made for my friends this year with my Neat & Tangled stamps.  This time, I used Neat & Tangled's Elves at Work and Sweet Home for my little gifts.

tangledinxmas

I made two types of Christmas gifts this year.  A pyramid favour box with some Lindt chocolate inside and a tag set with various designs on them.

Christmas Favours

I first die cut the favour box with some cardstock.  Then I die cut a few triangles for my designs.  These little favours boxes are perfect for the recipient to hang on their Christmas trees!  My tag set features three fun shaker tags packaged into a 100% handmade box, designed to fit my tags.

How is your Christmas crafting coming along?

For You Tag

Merry Christmas, everyone! Have done wrapping your gifts? :) Nina here today to share a quick tag!

Love the sparkle stamp in the Elves at Work set.

I masked the little bow from Elves at Work and stamped the candy cane from Sweet Home. So I don't need to worry about the tiny bow getting loose on its way to the recipient :)

Off to make more of my tags! Happy crafting!
