A Fabulous Shaker Card With Koren Wiskman

Hello everyone, Koren here with a really fun shaker card, using Neat & Tangled’s  Flamingo Floatie stamp set and coordinating dies. I also used the Party Dots stamp set and Making Waves die set to create a fun background for our shaker card. Some of these products are retiring and are on sale now in the Neat & Tangled online store while supplies last.

I started with my background. I took two pieces of Neenah 110 lb Solar White Cardstock and cut them down to 3 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches.  I used the circle die from the Making Waves die set and cut out a circle in the top portion of the card panel. I then lined it up over top of the second piece using my stamp positioner.  This allows me to arrange my circle background stamp right over the space provided by the first circle that I had cut out. After all, I am making a shaker card and this will be my window .

Once the circle from the Party Dots stamp set is arranged to be stamped in the background, I used sponge daubers and Distress Oxides to ink up the stamp with an ombre effect. I used inks in Evergreen Bough, Cracked Pistachio, and Tumbled Glass. I wanted it to remind people of a pool or an ocean. I think these colors did the trick. I inked up the stamp twice, repeating the pattern and trying to get good coverage with the ink while still allowing it to appear blended.

I knew that the aperture I created on the front panel was going to be slightly larger than the circle I just stamped in the background, but I wanted it to  have a white sparkly ring around it as you look through. This helps the white circles of the stamp stand out. Plus the sequins make it look like they fell right out of the background.

Once the background was stamped I used my three favorite shimmer sprays to make the background very shiny. It is hard to tell in the photos, but the background behind the shaker window is very sparkly.

On the front panel, I stamped the “fabulous” sentiment also from the Flamingo Floatie stamp set with Nuvo Clear Mark embossing ink and heat embossed it with Nuvo Turquoise Lagoon embossing powder.

I added a piece of acetate to the front window panel using liquid adhesive. To pop that front panel up onto the background, and also make a well for the sequins to live in, I used thin strips of foam adhesive. First around the window itself and then everywhere else that you can’t see to lift up the entire panel.

Once the shaker well is created you can add the sequins or whatever you are using as your shaker bits. Then I lined up the panel that we stamped and sprayed onto the back of the shaker window panel. Now we have a shaker background. This was added to a Simon Says Stamp Fog card base cut to size A2 in a portrait orientation.

I stamped my image of the little girl on the flamingo from the Neat & Tangled Flamingo Floatie stamp set with Versafine Clair Nocturne Ink and heat embossed it with Hero Arts Clear embossing powder. I do this technique when I want to watercolor my images. It creates a well around the image that helps me from going outside of the lines.  I used my Derwent Inktense Pencils to color this image. Along with my pencils I used a blender pen to draw out the pigment. I also used my Goldfaber Colored Pencil #273 to add some shadow.

* Skin- Tan 1720
* Swimsuit- Neutral Gray 1220
* Flamingo- Fuchsia 0700
* Beak- Ink Black
* Hair- Bark 2000

I cut the accessory images from the Flamingo Floatie Dies from Tonic Studios Glitter Card in Turquoise Lake.  I wanted these elements to also remind you of water and it’s glittery nature adds to the sparkly feeling of the card. I popped up the portion underneath the image first with Scotch 3M foam tape and then used double foam tape to pop up the image.  The splashes of water that are cut from the same glitter cardstock are adhered using Nuvo Deluxe Liquid Adhesive flat to the acetate window.

As for the sentiment, I stamped the “trust me you are” onto Tonic Studios Satin Card in Smooth Mint with Nuvo Clear Mark embossing ink and heat embossed it with Ranger White embossing powder.  I cut it down into a strip using my Tonic V-Blade trimmer and attached it using a single layer of foam tape.

I think this card is super fun and I know lots of fabulous friends to give this card to. I hope I inspired you to create something today.

September Guest Designer: Ashli Oliver

Hello friends!

I am so excited to introduce our guest designer for September, Ashli Oliver! I am such a fan of her work and thrilled to have her work with some Neat and Tangled this month!

Here is a little about Ashli:

Ashli Oliver (aka soapHOUSEmama) lives with her husband and four girls, age 9 and under, in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia. Ashli is a recovering graphic designer and when she is not busy homeschooling her kiddos, you can find her drinking copious amounts of coffee while playing with pretty paper in her studio. Not only does Ashli love documenting her family’s memories, but she finds great joy in the creative process… which, in her case, usually involves lots of messy, painty fun!
You can visit Ashli on her website, where you can keep up with her blog and take classes. You can also find her on Instagram

And for today Ashli is sharing this amazing layout! I love every single detail! She used our Party Dots stamp set, as well as some Ocean Breeze sequins. The circle stamp from Party Dots is such a great compliment to the circular photos.

Thank you so much Ashli for getting our week off to such an inspiration start!

Fun with the Box Die

Hey everyone, Miriam here today to share a couple quick Box Die cards with you.

For this first card, I wanted to create a Valentine's Day card.  I was originally going to use a critter sticker, but of course I couldn't find it, and if could see my craft room you would know why.  I did however, locate this cute little fox who was fussy cut from a paper in the Simple Stories Sweater Weather collection.

The patterned paper I used for the box was one sided, so I added a little distressing to the inside of the box with Antique Linen Distress Ink to soften the white a bit.

The sentiment is from the new Be My Valentine set.

For my second card I wanted to use the box in a different way, and create the idea of things spilling out of the box, in this case sequins.

I first put together the box, and adhered it to the card base with foam adhesive.  Once that was done, I stamped and embossed the sentiment, from Party Dots.

Then it was just a matter of adhering the sequins.  I used a combination of the Crystal Clear, Gold, and Black.

So fun to create!  I know lots of you have been waiting on the Box Die, and it's going to be back in stock this week.

One final tip, Scor-Tape is a great adhesive to use with this die, and I've used it on other cards, but for these I used CTMH Bonding Memories adhesive.  You can get similar adhesives in your craft store.  It's the type with a foam applicator tip where you press down on it to release the blue liquid adhesive.  It was quick and easy and worked like a charm, you don't need a lot, and it dries quickly.

Thanks for stopping by, have a great day!

Lets Celebrate Card

Hi everyone! This is Yana sharing a masculine birthday card (or an invitation) with you today!

For this card I experimented a bit with different types of inks - I started out with some dye inks and stamped a couple of balloons. I than moved onto pigment inks and stamped some more balloons overlapping the dye-ink stamped ones. I really like the end result - I was able to achieve a bit of a translucent effect, or I guess I was able to make my balloons a bit more realistic and somewhat see-through.

Just for you

Hi everyone!  Amy K. here today with a fun technique that I don't do nearly enough but I love the results!!!  Simple masking.

I've made a sweet spring inspired card using the balloons from Just for You.  I added in some dots (these were stamped off once) from Party Dots randomly around the balloons to resemble confetti!  I've stamped one of Danielle's fabulous handwriting stamps over some of the hand drawn balloon strings........LOVE!

That's all for me today but I hope to get out and enjoy the Spring weather we're to have here today!!

You Are...

Hello!
Chari here today with a card using On the Corner…but not so much on a corner. :)  As I've said before I like to challenge myself to think of ways to use stamp sets in new ways other than the obvious.  So that's just what I did with todays card.

YouAre

I started with Neenah solar white card stock and colored all my pieces with distress ink and blending tools.  You could use colored card stock but this is just another way to make your own pieces of colored paper. I inked pieces with peacock feathers, worn lipstick, scattered straw and dried marigold.  I stamped my text with versa fine black ink for a sharp, crisp image.  The black border stamp is from On the Edge and the bubbles are from Party Dots.  I mounted the banners with thin foam squares and the panel along the top with thicker foam squares to create different heights for my elements.  Hope you enjoyed this idea about another way to use your On the Corner stamp set.  Have a great day!

Happy New Year!!!

Good morning - Happy 2014! Heather stopping by to share a New Year card with you using Neat and Tangled's Party Dots Stamp Set:

I stamped the bubble dots several times in Delicata Golden Glitz Ink and Hero Arts Mint Julep ink - LOVE that color combo! Added a cityscape border cut with a MFT Die-namics die, and a strip of kraft paper at the bottom of that, and finished off with a couple of strips of washi tape in coordinating colors, and some black jute twine tied around the bottom.

Thanks for stopping by today! Have a wonderful day!

Celebrate!

Hello everyone!  It's almost the end of the year so I thought I'd share a card with one of my favorite stamps that were released this year. I used Party Dots for my card and made it with a soft colour palette.

I chose a soft blue pattern paper for the side and stamped the dots in on the white panel.  The banner was stamped and cut out easily, popped up on the panel using foam tape.  Rhinestones were used to finish the card off.

Celebrate!

Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas holidays and see you in 2014!

Shopping for inspiration- the holiday edition

Hello Neat and Tangled lovelies!

Katie Gehring here.  It's no secret that I love shopping for inspiration when I am out and about, and I am popping in today to share a card I made inspired by holiday decorations at (my favorite store, like, ever) Target!

Last weekend, I was picking up the items on my Target list and somewhere between the kids clothes and shoes departments I looked up and saw this.

Those colors, the circles, the shine!  I was inspired!  I snapped a picture with my iphone trying not to look too conspicuous.  When I returned home, I pulled out some of my Neat & Tangled stamps to make a card based on this Target decor, and here's what I created...

dsc_0082

I stamped Sunburst with green ink on green cardstock and punched out the center of the image with my circle punch.  Party Dots was stamped with gold ink, and I punched a couple of small circles from the larger stamped image.

dsc_0080

The stars from Merry and Bright accent the red circles and the sentiment is from Simple Christmas. A few circles punched from bronze shimmer cardstock added some depth and shine.

I think this card is pretty on Target with the inspiration (pun intended), and it's flat for easy mailing!  Next time you are out and about in all the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, don't forget to look around. Your next spark of inspiration could be hanging from the ceiling!

Thanks for stopping by!
Katie :)

Merry & Bright Christmas Card

Good morning everyone! Yana is here sharing a glittery Christmas Card using two awesome stamp sets from Neat & Tangled:

To create my card I combined Party Dots stamp set along with a new Merry & Bright set to create a super large Christmas bauble.

I stamped both images in purple and used white embossing powder for the overlapping Bright.

I also added some white and lilac sequins and used glitter paper to embellish my card.

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Double Double Toil & Trouble...

Hello!
Chari here today playing with some Neat & Tangled stamps in a slightly unexpected way.  I really like to challenge myself sometimes and think of different ways to use stamps.  I was looking at the big solid circle in the Party Dots set and thought it looked like looking down into a bowl of something bubbly and so the caldron was born!

(Oh and I thought I spelled it wrong...which would be totally embarrassing  considering I looked up the poem online, but apparently it can be spelled "caldron" and "cauldron"...who knew! Random info for the day!)

NT_Caldron

I double stamped the big circle in green hills ink on green cardstock, to get a little more contrast between the two greens. I used circle dies to cut the rim of the caldron and the body.  I stamped the spider webs with unicorn ink and made the handles with black stickles.  I added glossy accents to the bubbles and some google eyes...because that is probably a standard ingredient in witch's brew don't you think?

Thanks for stopping by today!

Lets Celebrate Card - Yana

Good morning everyone! Yana is here to share a Lets Celebrate card to continue the celebration of the Neat and Tangled's 1st birthday!

For this project I used fabulous Party Dots stamp set and pink pigment ink from ClearSnap! Who doesn't love pink?

To somehow highlight the sentiment and make it stand out I heat embossed it on dark grey cardstock in white embossing powder - I love the way it turned out! I also added a little pink chevron banner below, also heat embossed in white.

I stamped a few smaller dots on the top part of my card and added some pearl white sequins here and there:

Thank you so much for stopping by! Happy Birthday Neat and Tangled!

Happy 4th of July!

Hi, it's Jean sharing a card to celebrate the 4th of July with Neat & Tangled stamps. This is one of my favorite times of the year. For me, the holiday symbolizes the beginning of summer, and I've always liked the color combination of red, white and blue!
I combined two of the stars from the Sparkle and Shine stamp set with the sentiment from Party Dots. The stars were stamped with VersaMagic chalk inks, and the sentiment was heat embossed with Hero Arts silver embossing powder. I used a silver metallic cardstock for the card base.

Have a safe and happy holiday!

Hi Neat & Tangled friends!  Amy K. here with a card I made using the very popular set On the Strip 2.  I knew the layout I wanted but experimented with the color combo before stamping my final panel.  The sentiment (from Party Dots)  fits perfectly where the stripes meet!  I love how the stripes just pop when layered on a black card base!

Thanks for stopping by!
