The Danielle is available!

The 1940s Yoke dress is available in PDF in my Etsy store. This one turned out so well! I'm really happy with it.
The paper patterns are at the printers right now and should be shipped
back to me by the end of the week.
I have two more patterns in the mock up stage so more to come soon!

Thanks!

The Kevin-John is available!

Hi all,
My new pattern, The Kevin-John is available for PDF in my etsy store.
If you wouldn't mind sharing it around the tubal interwebs, I would greatly appreciate it.
Sharing is caring!

I'm prepping the paper patterns for the printer now and those should be available by the end of the month.

Thanks so much for the support. On to more pattern making!

1940s style halter top recreation.

Hi everyone!

Hope your week was good and you are gearing up for the weekend!
I am so booked this weekend, going to a vegan festival tomorrow, working, and seeing friends.

One friend I saw this past week asked me to help her with her costume for her dance performance at Camp Hollywood this weekend. She's part of the JR LA  Shag team and she needed to have a top remade to work with her partner's costume.

She brought in this rayon halter that was super cute and with a few modifications (because the new fabric was cotton) I drafted a pattern off the blouse and was able to make her blouse.

The fabric I got to work with was this cute Hawaiian/Tiki novelty print with these super tan surfer boys!

The Amy and other goodies!!

Hello lovely people!
It's been busy in the studio of Shelley. I'm working on a clothing production (NDA) and that has been my bread and butter for a while, and for a while longer.

I also invested in another serger for this project. Really happy about having twin sergers.

I'm working on the NVL patterns, and The Amy is done and shipping, so if you want the pattern, it's available in my Etsy store. I'm working on the next pattern right now and once I re-draw the cover, I'll announce it.

I've also taken on another dress from one of my kickstarter backers.

Plus, I made tiki shirts for animatronic puppets, because, because.

So much going on!
Whew!

I need to make some time to go through my vintage catalogs for catalog Sunday so I can post more images. I'm running really low on my scans.

Okay lovely people, that's it for now. I'm super tired and I just had a beer on an empty stomach, so I need to go to bed.

Tomorrow is a trip to the fabric store to get some supplies. Eep!

Have a great day!

Don't forget to check out my other social media and be sure to tell your friends!

The Amy pattern is available!

Hello lovely people.

My latest repro pattern, The Amy, is now available for paper pre-order in my Etsy store, or the available PDFs are up and ready for purchase. Sizes range from 40 bust to 60 bust! W00T

The pattern is a very simple economical early-mid 40s style with scalloped sleeve options and a hart-shaped neckline. It's ideal for a beginner sewer.

Check it out, tell a friend, and yay sewing!

Don't forget to check out my other social media and be sure to tell your friends!

Working on my new repro, The Gibson

Hello lovely people.

the pattern making is mad crazy over here. Got The Deidra all ready and as soon as it comes back from the printer, the paper version will be in the hands of those that want it (hopefully everyone).

The next pattern in the line is a 1910 walking ensemble I've named The Gibson. It consists of a blouse and walking skirt that I modified to work with a larger body.

Take a look at one of the mock ups. Sausage, my 44 bust dress form is modeling.

Going back into the fray with this today. Wish me luck!
Yay Sewing!

Pre-Order the paper The Deidra sewing pattern now!

Hello!

The Deidra is available for Pre-Order in it's paper form now. If you want to be in the first batch of printing, go a head and make an order.

My Kickstarter backers can message me via the Kickstarter protal if you want this pattern and when it comes in, I'll ship it right to you.

Im hard at work on the next pattern too. Ill announce that in a couple of days.

Thanks, and yay sewing!

The NVL pin is here!

Hi all. For those following along on my kickstarter adventure, I'm well underway. I post at least an update a week there, so if you want to stay in the know, that's the place to check first.

I just got the NVL pins from the manufacturer and they look great!

Here was the proof they sent and here is the final!

I have listed some extras in my etsy store if you all would love a cool lapel pin to show your support.
Alright, back to work!

Monday Share the Campaign Day

Happy Monday lovely people.

Wow, it's still setting in. My pattern line has been funded! So super excited about that. Thank you all! Also, the exclusive design I created has ALSO been funded!

Now, I want to be able to make this in all the sizes, so please help with that. My last and most ambitious stretch goal is to take the sizing of my pattern line to 60 bust! So, all you seamstress folks out there know anyone who says "they don't make sewing patterns in my size" take this message to them, share the kickstarter on social media, and even word of mouth! It's all helpful!

Okay, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving (and a happy week for those lovely non US folks) and I will chat with you seen!

Yay Sewing!

Catalog Sunday and FUNDED!!!!

Well, well, well...it's happened. We funded the campaign! Thank you all sooooooo much. You have no idea how super excited I am to get started on this. It's something I've wanted to do for years and now I can. Yes!

I have a few stretch goals so be sure to check those out, especially if you are larger than a 52 bust ;)

This Catalog SUnday i's Chicago Mail Order 1935, coats edition!

I got a boost!

My campaign got mentioned in Kickstarter's email newsletter. Yay!
I'm so almost there, lovely people. Less than $1,800 to go until funded! Please don't wait until the end, put me out of my insanity!

75% funded! Let's finish this!

Almost there. Please share this post, tell your friends, and let everyone know!
Stay happy!

Please please please please share this link on social media! Please!!!

My repro line is going PDF!

To cut down on costs, paper, shipping and a whole host of other stresses, I'm converting my current pattern line into print at home PDF files available in my ETSY store. Right now I have  two available and more this week.

There are no plans for multi-sizing right now, but in the distant future…perhaps.

But if you are interested in a pattern now, let me know and I'll move it to the top of the conversion list.

Thanks!

Contest: The Lady needs a name.

I was vacuuming this past weekend and I was pondering NVL. As the dog hair and cat hair were being sucked up, it hit me. I should just world build the Lady. Then, like a flood gate ideas began to tsunami into my thoughts. The gears churned, mulling over it in my head for 36 hours I think I have a workable storyline I'd like to share.

I keep getting these vignette images of silly things the Lady might do and it dawned on me why not create a world for her to do them in. So far, I see this world consisting of three places; the town she lives, Vinageville, 'The City' the giant nearby metropolis where all her dreams will come true, and a smaller nearby ville or burgh, I haven't decided.

Vintageville is basically a retro mecca. It's got a soda shop, a museum, a local tv station, a newspaper, an Elks Lodge (or equivalent), you name it. The Lady just moved there from said smaller town (that's still in the air) because she bought a 'new' house. She wanted to live somewhere between her old hometown and 'The City' because she wanted to be close to a place where her dreams are gonna come true.

Her great Uncle (name undetermined) lives in Vintageville and he owns the barber shop. He told her of this house for sale and did all the scouting for her. She gets there and the house is not like the picture he sent. In fact it's nearly dilapidated. He sees it a a fixer-upper, she sees it as a disaster.

The Lady had hoped to spend the time in her new house working on her dream, but she now has to get a job to pay for the repairs on the house. She gets a job sewing clothing in Mildred's Fashions,  the seamstress shop in Vintageville's downtown. This sets our story.

I'm still working out the total number of characters, but the Lady is our own highly fashionable gal from my drawings.

New Pattern Day!

This super cute one piece bathing suit is a 40 bust, 34 waist, and 43  hip. The bottoms of this 40s suit attach to the lining of the suit, but I think if you are savvy, you can make this  a two piece. That is what I plan to do.

The pattern is up for pre-sale, and I'd like to get 3 orders to cover the cost of printing. If you all can order early, share this post, and tell the world, I'd appreciate it.

Have a great Friday!!!

New Pattern Day Yay!!!

Finally, I have it completed!
My hat repro!

This quartet has stylish hats all different from each other. You know how some hat patterns interchange the same pieces to make up different styles? Not this pattern. It's a great value!

PLUS it's a 30s hat pattern! WHOOOO!
Oh! Oh! AND it's a 23" head! DOOOOD!!!
The pattern is currently in my Etsy store.
Why haven't you bought this pattern yet?

Thanks everyone and have a great Friday!!

Trying to build my brand.

Everything is a 'brand' now. Whether name brand, or trusted, or a nobody, everything has a name. I don't consider that good or bad, but I guess associating that with a mark of quality, you tend to gather a reputation.

I'm not speaking of me, exactly, but I guess I count for that. NewVintageLady is a brand now, so I've been told, and I keep getting all these signs to push myself past my comfort zone. I tried that out this past weekend with a trip to a vintage show.

The future of NewVintageLady

A new beginning always involves packing.
Hello Moving boxes.
I'm finally starting to pack. I get my keys to the new place on the 16th, I've arranged movers for the 25th, and I've gotten two large boxes together for donation so far.

PPP #2: Vintage flower seersucker

I really like how this one turned out.
The good hair day might also attribute to my happiness.
The only changes I made were taking in the shoulder points about an inch, bringing in the neckline, and shortening the bodice about 1/2". I wish I had this bodice fit on the first one, but the first one is still pretty swell. I'm wearing this to a swing dance next weekend. Light, cool and breezy. The dress is practically weightless.
More pictures on NVL.
