Felty-goodness for the Holidays.

 Hello lovely people.

Oh, has it been a year.

We all know that, so let's all stay safe, and be careful.

When I'm stressed, as I have ben mostly all year, I like to craft to ease my mind.

I'd wanted to replace a cheap wreath I've put on my front door for over 3 years. Previously, I've done a felt pumpkin for halloween, and a protesting turkey for Thanksgiving

So...who wants a vagina pillow? You know you do.

 Hi all!

I would ask how everyone is doing during this time, but man, ain't you tired of people asking that?

Things have been good, and bad, and unfair and infuriating but all in all I'm glad that as writing this, no-one in my family has had to deal with COVID directly.

For the most part, I'm scrambling to save money for when the rent moratorium is over. Though people have that reprieve, those of us gig workers still feel a weight approaching at the start of the new year.

Yay...

But I am picking up a few gigs, so please send me good thoughts on that.

I'm still making patters (I'll never stop) when I'm not up at 3 am sewing to pay rent. *crazy eyes*

And, I decided to give myself a mental health day and get something out of my head that I've been having in it for years.

I am around a lot of creative and artistic types and I finally, finally decided to formulate a lot of what I have been given from them and push some of my more subversive ideas out into a store.

So here it is.

Right now I'm starting with the Vagina Pillows, but once things begin to normalize, I plan on taking on more couture BDSM sewing projects and see where that goes too! I had no idea the demand for the costuming was so high. Plus, the people I've talked to are so nice! It's gonna be a fun extension of my sewing skills.

So!

If you want a pillow for the holidays, or know someone who does,

then take a look at my store,

Oh! I got so much going on!

I miss regular blogging. I think I'll get my ass in gear.

Talk to you all soon! Byeeeeeeeeeeeee.

1950s felt skit applique

Hello lovely people. I know it's been a while since I've done a regular post, but I have been busy.

The pattern line is going well as I start in on my second pattern, and in-between, I'm working on many, many small and fun projects.

Catalog Sunday

Sorry for no CS last Sunday. I've been illustrating like a mad woman. You can find my current works here.

1930s (early) McCall embroidery booklet.

My first left handed tool!

Hi all! It's Friday and you know what I plan to do this weekend!
Getting through some of my 200+ squares I cut last night!

Great Day Yesterday!

Some good news last night!
Oh yeah, there was that, but I meant my fabric for my quilt arrived! Wine celebration indeed!

Details make all the difference.

I do like these very much.

They do help to brake up the space very well and I'm glad that I did both shirring and the pin-tucking for them. I love the contrast of the textures and I've already received compliments on them!

Progress on the pin tucks, shirr nuf!

Happy Friday everyone.
Last night I was determined to make some real progress on the pin tuck pillow cover I mentioned yesterday. I was all set to dedicate a good couple hours to getting some tucked rows inver my belt when I got three phone calls all relating to work! Two freelance gigs and a sewing proposition! Wha! I tell you, when it comes, it comes.

So I was feeling pretty good and only able to get a few rows in.

Too much red.

I love looking at other people's dome decor. It's a great way to grab inspiration in places where people actually live instead of only magazines and photos on pintrest. I recently was looking through this thread on the Fedora Lounge and was just inspired by all the variations of vintage and modern fused together.

It would appear I love the color red. I'm not ashamed of it, I do like living with warm colors around me. I've had red drapes since I lived in San Francisco, and I think they add a dramatic flare to a space, especially when sunlight shines through.

Day Project: Lining my beach purse

Good Tuesday one and all.

It's October and fall us among us. Though the weather is getting cooler, even for California, all I have been thinking of lately is Las Vegas. What? Yeah, Las Vegas. I've had my room booked for months now, and it will be my first time at Viva Las Vegas next year.

I've got a lot of outfits planned, but I decided to get started on some of the smaller things and one of them thus far fits into my MnM schedule.

Burlap Bag Progress

Happy Independence Day Weekend everyone!
Hope the heat isn't getting to ya. Me, I'm planning on staying inside all day and perhaps using my AC for the first time this summer.

Is sewing 'crafting'?

I have a friend who is a major crafter. She's more than likely reading this right now, (hi Shampoo!). She makes cards and has customizable card stock punchers, and grommets, the whole magilla. She subscribes to crafting mags and blogs and even sells her cards and things on etsy. She's hard core, and I totally respect that.

Pimp my dress form.

So Onda and I have been talking (about as much as one can talk with a headless dress form), and she thinks she's a bit 'under matched'. I mean she does look home made. Not that there is anything against that, its just she has a store bought personality.

Women.

After thinking on it a bit and realizing if I didn't do something to her I wouldn't use her, I decided to reshape her shoulders a bit, and give her a bit of a sleek look. I give all the credit to my little friend below.

Oh Elmer, is there anything you cant mildly fix?

After the shoulder shape up, I coated Onda's duct tape innards in a single layer of newsprint and glue/water mixture.

From there I decided to draft a cover (linen) that I can't WAIT to coat in the glue mix. I LOVE that stuff! After I draped the side (my first attempt at it) I matched the fabric and did some quick sewing.

I had to shape the boobs a bit more than original, and draping the sewn piece back in place was a bit of a challenge, Im getting it. Once the front is coated and dry, Ill drape the back and Onda will feel like a million bucks.

Meet my new friend, Onda.

I did it, I made a duct tape dress form. Thanks to a lot of help from my friend Jen, who now knows more of my wobbly bits than she ever wanted, I managed to finally get this done.

The whole thing cost 6 rolls of tape (two were used after the wrapping, and I still have one leftover), and two bags of packing peanuts. In sum a total of a few hours and $22. I put a hanger in the shoulders so I could hang the dress form up.

It was an interesting feeling as the tape built up, and me bending was out of the question.
After Onda was cut off me, I spent the next day stuffing her and shaping her a bit. I had to pinch the waist, because we had to wrap tons around the middle. I also padded the hips some. Shes really, really close to my measurements at 48, 39, 51. The upper bust is a bit larger on her than me (42" Im 41"). I may layer her with a few shirts to give her some padding so shes squishy.

The name Onda comes from a life size doll I had as a kid. She was like a life size Barbie, about 4' 8" tall, chocolate brown, and wearing a jean shorts set! My older cousin was so impressed by the name Onda. I forget why I called her that, but I feel its time to bring it back.

Its strange seeing my body size not in the mirror. Ive dressed her in a few of my shirts, and she looks cuter than me. But she is me, right? Creepy...
