Formula X For Sephora - The Brilliants

Formula X for Sephora was just being released while I was on holiday in Hawaii in October. This is a huge collection, with some awesome looking polishes. It was hard to limit myself to the 14 I did buy.

The Brilliants is a mini set, within the brand.  The brilliants are "A dazzling and vibrant glitter lacquer with intense sparkle".  The set contains 5 polishes, a silver, a black, a pink, a periwinkle and a yellow.  I only purchased 2 of these, but wish I had got all of them now.

First up is the light pink polish in this collection,  Fine Like Einstein.

Formula X for Sephora - Fine Like Einstein

Formula X for Sephora - Fine Like Einstein - White Light

Formula X for Sephora - Fine Like Einstein - Sunshine

Formula X for Sephora - Fine Like Einstein - Shade

This is three coats of Fine Like Einstein. It is a super fine holographic pink glitter in a clear base.  I love how much these polishes sparkle, even when not in the sun. It is very dense glitter so actually gives full coverage in two thick coats and dries super fast.  The above swatches are all with a coat of Gelous and Seche Vite over the top.  The top coats help to smooth the glitter out to the touch.  Removal was not easy and required cotton soaked in acetone left on the nails for a couple of minutes to make removal easier.

The second polish I got from this set of 5 is Light Me Up Edison.

Formula X for Sephora - Light Me Up Edison - White Light

I love this. It is yellow and not gold and I think that makes it unique in my collection (it is much harder to find yellow glitter than gold glitter polishes).  This is three coats and then a coat of Gelous and Seche Vite. Its sparkles soooo much.  Dry time was super quick and wear time was great.

Different Dimension Gnarly

Different Dimension Gnarly is from the 80's Baby Collection.   It is a neon green scattered holographic polish.  The formula on this is great. Two coats gives perfect coverage.  The holographic particles in this one are scattered and subtle so are hard to capture on camera, so this is a polish that does look better in real life.

Different Dimension Gnarly - Sunshine

Different Dimension Gnarly - Shade

This polish is totally unique in my collection, I can honestly say that I do not have any other holographic polishes this bright!

This was my first experience with Different Dimension polishes, and I love it.  I think I will have to get some more.  You can purchase Different Dimension Polishes here on Etsy or from llarowe.

Color Club Cosmic Fate + Comparisons

Cosmic fate is the last polish I have to chow you from the 2013 Color Club Halo Hues collection.  The final three polishes in the collection are Beyond (Black), Kismet (Green) and Eternal Beauty (Purple).

Color Club Cosmic Fate - Sunshine

Color Club Cosmic Fate - Sunshine

Color Club Cosmic Fate - Shade

This is three coats, altougyh two would be perfectly adequate.  Like the other Halo Hues polishes, this has a thinner formula, that applies easily and gives good coverage.  This is a pure orange holographic. It doesnt seem too pink or too yellow, and because of that is quite unique in my collection.

And here is a comparison with all my other orange/peach holographic polishes.

It is hard to see here, but Cosmic Fate is the purest orange I have. The other polishes either lean more pink or more yellow.

I am off to Sydney tomorrow to hang out with my sister for a few days.
See you when I get back.

Color Club Miss Bliss + Comparisons

What is better, when today is absolutely pouring with rain and there is thunder and lightening, than looking at swatch pictures I took yesterday when it was so sunny you could wear holos and have rainbows on your fingers?  Actually it is kind of depressing because I know it is going to be a while before it is that sunny again.

Color Club Miss Bliss - Sunshine

Color Club Miss Bliss - shade

Miss Bliss is the medium pink holographic polish released in the second batch of Color Club Halo Hues at the start of this year.  This is three coats, but like Over the Moon yesterday, you can easily get away with two.  The formula on this is slightly on the thin side, but applies easily and dries very quickly.  Again, these polishes don't look very impressive in the shade, but in the sun they are amazing!

Here is some comparisons of my medium pink holographic polishes. Color Club Miss Bliss is clearly the most holographic.  It also gives good coverage, as you can not see through the swatch stick like you can with many of the other polishes in this picture.

Whoah Holy Holo Batman! Look at that Color Club Sparkle!

Color Club Over the Moon + Comparisons

WE HAD SOME SUN TODAY!!!!!!

Its almost winter here, and pretty unusual for us to have a sunny weekend day at the moment. (Although it is pouring with rain now).  So I figured it was time to swatch some holographic polishes.

Color Club Over the Moon - Sunshine

Color Club Over the Moon - Shade

Over the Moon is the blue holographic polish from the 2013 release of the Color Club Halo Hues. This newer set of 6 polishes, were darker than the first set released.  This is three coats, although two would be fine - I just am obsessive compulsive about doing three coats.  The formula on these are on the thin side, but are easy to apply and dry quickly.  The above photos clearly show the difference that sunlight makes to the appearance of this polish.  In the sunlight it is an awesomely strong holographic rainbow.

Below is a comparison with some of my other blue holographic polishes.
All swatches are three coats.

You can see that in the sunlight the two Color Club holos give the most coverage and are the most opaque of the polishes. Over the Moon is unique amoungst my 100 holographic polishes.

Color Club Halo Hues are available in New Zealand now.

OPI You're Such a BudaPest with Darling Diva Dangerous Driver

OPI You're Such a BudaPest - Sunshine

OPI You're Such a BudaPest is my favourite polish from the OPI Euro Centrale collection.  This is a slightly blue toned creme lilac.  This is three coats that applied beautifully.

Darling Diva Dangerous Driver (over OPI You're Such a BudaPest) - sunshine

This is an amazing combo! A holographic polish that should exist, that I haven't managed to find in real life yet.  Dangerous Driver is not only holographic but also duochromatic and switches from purple to pink in different lights. This is one thin coat of Dangerous Driver over OPI You're Such a BudaPest.

Soon to be Spotted in NZ: Color Club Halo Hues

Wohoo! Just when I thought that these 6 polishes were going to be really expensive and hard to get to New Zealand, Color Club New Zealand announce they are releasing them in stores on 1 April.

This is the second of two Halo Hues collections. Polishes from the first collection will be available on the usanailsonline website here.

Darling Diva BJ

Valentine's Day is just around the corner so its time for some Valentine's themed polishes.

First up is Darling Diva Polish BJ.  This is one of two polishes from the Darling Diva Valentine's collection.  (This polish is named after the creators soon to be sister in law Bobbi Jo, and not that other thing you were thinking)

Darling Diva Polish BJ - Sunshine

Darling Diva Polish BJ - Shade

BJ is a bright Barbie pink holographic polish, that also has bigger bits of holographic pink glitter scattered through out.  This is two coats and the formula is divine. This is the first Darling Diva Polish I tried of the bunch I ordered and I am impressed, especially with the formula.

You can purchase Darling Diva Polishes here on Etsy.

Ozotic 915

I hope everyone had a good Christmas! It is super hot here at the moment so I am just trying not to over heat. We attempted some boxing day shopping today, but the crowds were insane, so we left empty handed and went back home to melt.

Ozotic 915 was my Christmas Day Manicure. It is a subtle green that didn't shout Christmas too loud.  915 is from the 2012 Scatter Chrome collection.

Ozotic 915 - shade (this is the most colour accurate photo)

Ozotic 915 - Sunshine

Ozotic 915 - Sunshine

This is three coats. It does not actually have any glitter in it, but is a metallic chrome polish which has scattered holographic particles in it.  It is also slightly duochrome moving from green to a blueish teal in the shade (which you can see in the first picture).  I really like this polish and it was fun to look at all day yesterday in the sun.

You can buy 915 and the three other polishes in this collection from piCture pOlish in Australia or Gracie Lou in New Zealand, as well as a bunch of other online retailers listed on the piCture pOlish website.

Color Club Blue Heaven

Color Club Blue Heaven - sunshine

Color Club Blue Heaven is the light blue holographic from the 2012 Halo Hues collection. This is two coats.   Look at how holo this is!

Unfortunately after a weekend of cleaning my nails are no longer this long. So swatching is on the back burner until they grow back a bit :(

Color Club Cloud Nine

Color Club Cloud Nine - Sunshine

Cloud Nine is the light pink holographic polish released recently by Color Club as past of the Halo Hues collection.  It is a light pink linear holographic.  This is two coats.  It applies nicely and dries quickly.  The holographic-ness in this is very strong. Even indoors they look holographic and outside in the sun it blows your mind.

There was a lot of hype around the release of this collection in America. It was delayed for a time and we can only assume it was to perfect the formula or increase the production of this collection.  Halo Hues are available in North America now.  The plan is for them to be released early next year in New Zealand.

Butter London Dodgy Barnett

Yay! After the weather man promising sun for the last three days, we finally had some, and I managed to finish work on time and get home before sunset to capture these pictures of Butter London's Dodgy Barnett.

Dodgy Barnett is from the 2012 Butter London Autumn/Winter collection.  To be honest I am not quite sure why you would include Holographic polishes in a winter collection.  Its spring here at the moment an we barely get any sun, so I cant imagine winter in London having much sun.

Butter London Dodgy Barnett - sunshine

Close up of Butter London Dodgy Barnett

This is three coats. This one as not a one or two coater like a lot of other holographic polishes are these days.  Its quite thin so could actually be used as a holographic top coat over other polishes.  However it does have a significant amount of holo-ness so is totally worth getting.

I haven't spotted this one in New Zealand yet. There are very very few holographic polishes available in New Zealand, so if this one is spotted in Farmers, it may be worth paying the ridiculous retail price of $35 for one of these.

piCture pOlish Blog Fest 2012

80 Bloggers around the world are taking part in this years piCture pOlish Blog Fest. Luckily I get to be one of them too.

The first shade I am got to review is Orbit.

Orbit is one of the new 'Mesh' shades available from today.  Orbit covers your nails in their own little galaxies.

piCture pOlish Orbit - Sunshine

piCture pOlish Orbit - Shade

Orbit is a dark navy blue base jelly packed full of dark blue and silver glitter.  It is so full of glitter that you barely notice the jelly base.  This swatch is two coats and they applied like a dream. You could even get away with one thick coat.  This polish is not a chucky glitter so only needs on layer of top coat to make it smooth.  The only problem with this polish is that it is a glitter and so takes a bit of elbow grease to take off.

This polish is officially on sale today from piCture pOlish and retails for AUD$9.50.  For those in New Zealand Gracie Lou will be stocking piCture pOlish soon.

The second shade I received from piCture pOlish is this stunning green called Kryptonite.
Kryptonite is from the 'Collaboration Collection' and was jointly created by Cathy from More Nail Polish.

piCture pOlish Orbit - Sunshine

 piCture pOlish Orbit - Sunshine
This picture really shoes the holographic glitter in the polish

Kryptonite is a deep green jelly full of irregular shaped micro holographic particles.  This swatch is three coats. It applied nicely and dried quickly.  The holographic particles are scattered and sparkle well in the sun.  It has a smooth finish, as it is ultimately a jelly polish.

This polish is officially on sale today from piCture pOlish and retails for AUD$11.50.  For those in New Zealand Gracie Lou will be stocking piCture pOlish soon, but you can order directly from piCture pOlish if you can not wait.

So far my first two piCture pOlish polishes have been great. The biggest down side to these is that they are only 11mls.  I will be stocking up on more of the new shades just released from the Mesh and Collaboration collections. Some of the polishes being displayed in the Blog Fest today look amazing.

Ozotic 533

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have been sick for abut a months now (I am currently taking my second course of antibiotics). My computer has pretty much died and takes about 30 minutes to load a website. I had to find a new job in the last couple of weeks. Luckily that wasn't too hard, but still is a nerve racking process. I've also been doing other things - recently I got into cupcake decorating so have been doing lots of baking.

I had been putting off buying some Ozotic polishes for a long time because the price combined with the shipping to New Zealand was pretty high (Even by NZ standards).  But when Picture Polishes announced that Ozotic were discontinuing their 500 series I had a little panic attack and bought 8 of them.

533 is from the Mish Mash collection.  There are four polishes in this collection and all are multi coloured holographic polishes designed to be worn over a black base.

Ozotic 533 over Black - Sunshine

Ozotic 533 over Black - Shade

Today was our first day of sun in a very very long time. Luckily I managed to snap these pics before it disappeared.  This is two thin coats of 533 over two coats of black.  It sparkles from green to teal to blue to purple when you hold your hand to the sun at different angles.  This is a beautiful holographic polish.

Picture polish no longer has stock left of 533 on their website but Llarowe is still selling 533 for US$14.50 and has international shipping. Picture polishes announced not long ago that there were less than 150 of these polishes left in the world. Grab yours now before they become impossible to find!

A England Princess Sabra (Tristam eyes)

I need to make the most of the sun we have left in New Zealand before winter sets in. Each weekend I hope for sun, as its the only time I can photograph polishes outside. By the time I get home from work each night the sun is gone and its freezing cold.

Luckily there was a little bit of sun the other day and I managed to get these swatches done of  A England's Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes). FYI Tristam is Adina's (the owner of A England) cat - you can find pictures of him on the A England Facebook page.

A England Princess Sabra - sunshine
A England Princess Sabra - sunshine
A England Princess Sabra - sunshine

The A England website says that Princess Sabra (Tristam Eyes) is:
The heart-stoppingly beautiful daughter of the king,
whose misfortune it was to have her name drawn as the next sacrificial victim of the dragon.

The color is described as:
Alluringly feline golden olive bronzite
the sacrificial Princess constantly shifts with her elusive, myriad hues.

To me it is a pretty olive green holographic polish. This was two coats. The formula is perfection and dry time is great. In the shade it is a soft olive colour, but in the sunshine turns into a magical golden holographic rainbow of awesomeness.
