Day 11: Polka Dots

Happy 11/11/11! Don't forget to make a wish tonight at 11:11:11. :) I hope you didn't have your fill of polka dots after my rainbow manicure, because I have more for you today. This time, I just did two vertical lines of polka dots on each nail, and I really like how it looks. I used a base of China Glaze First Mate, and the dots are in Sally Hansen Green with Envy and Color Club Overboard.

I can't believe I'd never used First Mate before! It's really gorgeous, and I think the green and pink complement it well. The only thing I don't like about this manicure is that because my pinky nail is so much small than my other nails and the dots are the same size, that nail looks a bit odd. Other than that, though, I'm happy with it - and even if I wasn't, I'd only have to wear it for today. Again, have a great day!

Splatter on Black

I was originally going to do a water marble with these colors, but for some reason it just wasn't working for me. Instead, I decided to go for an easier option: the splatter mani. I used a base of Wet 'n' Wild Black Creme with OPI A Good Man-darin is Hard to Find, Nina Ultra Pro Salsa, OPI Jade is the New Black, and Color Club Overboard.

At first, I wasn't too happy with this, but it definitely started growing on me after I put top coat on. Unfortunately, it's chipped now, so I'll have to take it off soon. I'm not sure when that's going to happen, though, as one of my best friends, Francis, is visiting this weekend. This is Francis:

I really like how the focus turned out in the first picture, even though it was completely accidental. Anyway, that's about all I have to say now...have a great weekend!

Pink and Grey Crackle

Only two new treatments for brain tumors have been approved in the past 25 years. - North American Brain Tumor Coalition

Today I have a combination of a Pink Wednesday manicure and a grey National Brain Tumor Awareness month manicure. I used one of my favorite pinks, Color Club Yachty, Yachty, Yadda, and I topped it with China Glaze Cracked Concrete. Sorry for the shoddy cleanup - I always think I've gotten everything, and then I take the pictures...and I haven't. Whoops.

I hope you don't mind crackle two days in a row, because I couldn't seem to come up with anything else that appealed to me. Don't worry, though, tomorrow will be something else (and I'll give you a hint...it's related to what's happening Friday)!

In other news (and if you don't want to hear about my personal life, stop now), my kidney stone is gone! Well, it's in a zippy bag on its way to the urologist...but it's out of my body! I am so thrilled - this is the best early birthday present ever. :) Have a great day!

Jewel of a Lighthouse

Cheesy title! I never know what to name these layering posts, especially if I use a gazillion polishes. I only used two this time - Color Club Jewel of a Girl and China Glaze Lighthouse. I did this combination because I put on two coats of Jewel of a Girl, which is a burgundy/brown shimmer, and didn't like it nearly as well as I did in the bottle, so I thought, "Hm, what can I do with this?" So I topped it with a coat of Lighthouse.

Much better! I did take pictures of this inside and in sunlight, but none of those looked anything like what the combination looks like in real life, so I deleted them. Even though Lighthouse is a yellow polish, I feel like it adds a gold foil finish to Jewel of a Girl...whatever it does, I like it! I'm considering putting Jewel of a Girl on my swap list, but now that I've found out how great it looks with Lighthouse, I'm having to consider it more carefully. :)

Color Club Regatta Red

Color Club Regatta Red, from the Rebel Debutante collection (EDIT: My bad! Alison kindly corrected me - this is not from the Rebel Debutante collection. I believe it's actually from the Yacht Club collection.), is a bright medium red that leans a bit pink. While it's not my favorite kind of red, I do like it and am glad to have it in my collection. This was two coats without top coat, and the application was very easy, like all the other Color Club polishes I've tried.

That's all I have for today...I'm not feeling my best, and I really ought to be spending my energy doing schoolwork (even though it's a snow day) rather than blogging. TGIF!

Color Club Yachty, Yachty Yadda

Color Club Yachty, Yachty Yadda is a bright hot pink from the Yacht Club collection that's rather reminiscent of Barbie, and though I haven't been a fan of Barbie for quite a few years now, I really like this color. In real life, it "pops" more than it does in my pictures.

I'm feeling kind of ashamed of the quality of my blog lately...I feel like my posts aren't that great, but school wears me out so much that even though I want to do more long and detailed posts, I'm just too brain-dead most of the time. Hopefully I'll get fully back into the swing of things soon, but until then, I'm afraid I'll be being rather brief. Happy Friday!

EDIT: Whoops, I almost forgot! I've been sitting on a couple of new nail blogs I've found and kept forgetting to share with you...here they are, both recommended by myself (for whatever that's worth).
