Friday Potpourri

Sweet sweet Friday

and this is one I have been looking forward to 

for a few weeks...

 loving this time of year

although I have to scrape the frost off the windshield in the morning

it is warm enough to sit on the bench outside at work

to read on my afternoon break

don't you love this ring

I just love it

 my favorite nail polish right now ~ chinchilly

so why am I excited about the week-end??

I will be setting the alarm early tomorrow

as I am headed out of town

it's a girls shopping week-end

and we are headed to New England

Bangor, Maine to be exact!

so just drop me off at Target or Kohl's

and let's not forget Burlington Coat Factory

there are 5 of us ~ hammer down

we will drive for 5 hours to reach our destination

then we will shop til we drop

literally

we come home on Monday

loaded down I am sure

as my lists are made and cash in hand

I promise to do my best to help boost the US economy.

Monday Ramblings

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope that the week-end was good to all of you

I feel like I never stopped

I did of course

but let's just say

Sunday night I was in my jammies by 8

and to bed early

our shopping excursion on Friday was a success

many, many sales to be had

and we finished in record time.

We were late getting to the retirement dinner

but not too late to have a few of these

and play catch up.

Saturday was home day...

the past few years I have been taking out 

my decorations in stages

one week-end I unpack all my dishes and kitchen stuff

Christmas 2009

I really tend to go overboard

as I have glasses and dishes

serving pieces and I get them out and 

wash them all up

I used to do it all at the same time

but I was exhausted when I was done

so this way is easier for me

this week was all the hard work

next week will be fluffing and making it all pretty.

Sunday was shopping today

9 stops ~ including the grocery store

now to sit and do my cards

and mail my parcels

I will be writing cards listening to this

it is my absolute favorite Christmas album

and Mom still has the original

on vinyl baby!

in Grade 6 ~ 3 of us sang

Santa Bring My Baby Back to Me

we had a dance and everything

I still love it!

My favorite song on the album is

I think it is timeless.

It snowed here on Saturday

so the spirit is in my heart 

and although I have only just begun

and there is still much to do

I smile as my favorite time of the year

is here...

Treasure Hunting

This week-end is our area's annual giant flea market.

It advertises itself as being the
largest outdoor flea market in Canada ~

all I know is that it takes all day to go through it.

It sure is not Farm Chicks or Barn House ~

there will be no cute outfits or name tags ~

it will be comfortable shoes

and by the sounds of the forecast lots of water

as the humidity is suppose to

S*P*I*K*E....

In past years there has been just as many junk tables

as there were treasures.

And I really mean junk ~

it is amazing what people will try to sell for a dollar!

I am going there with a purpose ~

I am looking for something from the past ~

of course!

I found one on eBay ~ but I am not willing to spend that much of my hard earned money on it!

It is just a can, but seeing it takes me back to my childhood ~

playing in the kitchen chamber at the farm.

And before you ask ~

I already looked last time I was there to see if there was

still one kicking around.

Mind you I did not scour every corner ~

but I am pretty sure they were all tossed.

I am taking my camera ~

so I plan to bring home more pictures than treasures.

But you never know what I might find...

as I now have a new eye for all my old stuff.

Did I tell you that I like

that it is called "vintage" now and not "antique"

does not sound nearly as stuffy....

Live Simply

This week-end has been an odd one of sorts ~
seems what I planned to do yesterday I did today
and vice versa.
Not sure why, but it has thrown me for a little bit of a loop
along with having a mild case of the toomanyshooters flu today
all is now good with the world.

This afternoon I picked up my Mom and
we headed out to a local craft fair.

Although it is still quite small ~
it has grown over the years and
I always enjoy going and poking around to see what is new.

There was A LOT of jewelry this year ~
not that I am not a fan,
I love it,
but when every 2nd booth is jewelry ~
OK I may be exaggerating just a tad...
well a girl yearns for some wood or candles or something!!

First thing I saw at the front gate was
NO Camera's
ACK!
I so wanted to take some really cool shots
but alas ~ that was not to happen.

Mom bought way more than I did ~ which is good.
Every time I stopped to look at something I heard
Do you like that? Do you want that?
That is NOT the reason I asked you if you wanted to come!
She finally got the message and again ~ all was well.

She bought some "Mom" things
~ she gravitates towards pastel colors and I cringe....
But I did talk her into some nice placemats to match the chair pads
I bought her a couple of years ago for Christmas.

I bought fudge
~ a must to bring home for hubby at every craft show I enter the door of
and I also bought this:



Isn't it sweet?

This has been a dear friends mantra this year and
when I saw it I thought of her.
Since she inspires me nearly every day, I bought it with her in mind.
