Today just wanted to bake some bread for tomorrow breakfast. Since i have homemade red bean paste and mashed purple sweet potato which leftover from making purple sweet potato sushi the other day.So just came out with this new recipe.

I have heard about  DDL Dulce de leche ( you can learn more from here) long time ago but I can't try as it was not easy to obtain full cream condensed milk last time. Anyway, after I received the F&N full cream sweetened condensed milk , i immediately try to make DDL at home.

Kluang Mooncake 居鑾月餅

Do you know this famous mooncake from Kluang 居銮 ( a small town located at the state of Johor in Malaysia) ? I also recently know this mooncake. According to Johorkaki, Yuen Fatt 源發餅家was the first bakery shop to introduce the Shanghai style of mooncakes in Malaysia. And they shaped the Shanghai mooncake in an unique way that look like rugby ball for me, but some said it look like a mouse, a fox or fish. When my mom first look at this mooncake, she said it look like tortoise ^_^ (For Chinese, tortoise is a good symbol of long life). Anyway, i didn't get a chance to try the real Kluang mooncake. So i have to do it myself according to the taste that i read on few website. The outer pastry as described is melt-in-mouth type, immediately i think of my pineapple tart's pastry.

Japanese Condensed Milk bread 日式炼奶面包


I rarely appear on my FB, so I don't know what is happening in there, unless my FB friends link that to me (Take this opportunity to say sorry to whom sent me the friend request, I didn't responded due to I don't update my FB). Usually I got to know the latest hot topic especially on new baking items from my Chinese blogger friends. Example like this popular Japanese condensed milk bread. Since I have all ingredients on hand, quickly make it for the next day breakfast. You should use Hokkaido condensed milk (if you have) to get the closer taste to original recipe which come from a Japanese website. But I just use sweetened creamer that we use in our daily Milo drink.

Strawberry Cream Cheese Pie 草莓乳酪派

Wishing to my Malay blogger friends and readers Selamat Hari Raya Aidil Fitri/ Eid-ul-Fitr 2013 and Happy Holidays to the rest !!
I also want to take couple of days off from blogging and go jalan jalan dan makan makan (travelling and food hunting) ^_^ .
This strawberry cream cheese dessert was served at a Birthday party we attended some time back. My kids love this dessert very much. So I never shy to ask for the recipe, here is the recipe that I obtained from my hubby's friend.  This is perfect dessert to be served in any party.

I would said pineapple tarts rank number 1 among all CNY cookies, do you agree?
As a Hokkien, we called pineapple as "Ong Lai", means bring good luck. So every CNY, i must bake some pineapple tarts, if not bake some, i afraid our "Ong" will not come, hehehe..

Sarawak Black Cake (Kek Serikaya or Kek Hitam) 砂劳越黑蛋糕


After i made Kaya, the first thing came into my mind is to make this famous Sarawak Black Cake. I received two bottles of gula hitam (a special browning sugar for black cake) from a reader (Thanks to Angeline) few months back. 
When i try to take these pictures just now, sky was dark with heavy rain, very poor lighting this time and it was so difficult to take picture with very dark and black cake ^_^..

French Toast with Chocolate Sauce 巧克力酱法式吐司

Yesterday we had dim sum for breakfast at Damansara Up Town after our morning jogged at FRIM (Forest Reserve Institute Malaysia) . When come to lunch, I was headache and don't know what to cook since i did not go to morning market. After checked through the pantry, noticed a loaf of white bread still sitting on the island counter. So i quickly grapped two eggs and prepared this French toast for a late lunch..

Purple Sweet Potato buns 奶香紫薯面包



For the past few days, i was busy making few type of breads for breakfast. I was so happy able to make the sandwich roll that taste quite close to Subway sandwich roll. But I did not manage to take any photo as that time i was busy with something else. I will definitely make this again and will share with you the recipe soon. Come back today's recipe, it is the bread bun made by purple sweet potato, love the sweet purple colour and the soft texture..remain me of a very nice sweet potato bread that i tried in Das Gute Hong Kong....

Pineapple rolls (Nastar) 凤梨酥, Happy Lunar New Year


I think is time for me to "Sou Kong" and take a short break from blogging and enjoy the Dragon New Year. Yesterday i did my last batch of baking (maybe not the last, i'm not sure ^_^)of pineapple rolls. I still using back my old recipe and made little changes and resulted a very flaky and buttery pineapple rolls. So far, I have not seen a pineapple tart or rolls that same like my recipe which requires only 4 ingredients, Butter, Condensed Milk, Flour and Egg yolk, cheap and easy ! The other day Jane came over to my house, and I heard she talked to someone who asking for pineapple tart recipe, and she told her to use Sonia's condensed milk pineapple tart recipe, hahaha!

This was not my 1st time making this yummy Nyona kuih (my old post here), i quite often making this kuih as this is one of my family favourite's kuih. Kuih Ketayap or Kuih Dadar is a rolled crepe (usually flavored with pandan juice) and filled with grated sweet coconut filling (flavored with gula melaka or Malaysian palm sugar).

Sawdust Pudding木糠布甸
The other day I was stumbled up this pudding recipe, understand this is a famous pudding in Macau. Sawdust Pudding aka Serradura is actually a layered chilled dessert made up of a sweetened, vanilla whipped cream and crushed Marie biscuits. I immediately try out this recipe since this recipe requires all simple ingredients. I also missed Marie biscuits as I have so long did not eat this biscuit.
