Our KitchenAid stand mixer is still my favourite kitchen gadget, but the recently acquired Philips food processor has a very efficient citrus juicer attached. So apart from drinking copious amounts of freshly collected birch sap, we're also drinking lots of freshly squeezed orange juice..

I love our new citrus juicer

Sunday morning pancakes
I've mentioned before that every weekend we have pancakes for breakfast. I'm no good in making them, so I stay in bed until K. calls me to table. Here's a lovely photo of last weekend's pancakes - small and chubby farmers' cheese pancakes that we enjoyed with home-made lingonberry and pear jam (lingonberries were picked by K's mum, pears are from my parents' backyard and the jam was made by me). That's family cooperation, isn't it :)
Hope you've all had a lovely weekend!

Have you ever tried golden raspberries?
They're just as pretty as the 'regular' red ones (I've mentioned yellow ones before). K. took these lovely close-ups for me. (And no, these are not salmonberries or cloudberries).

Just a Food Photo: Soba Noodles
Our dinner last night - Chicken Teriyaki with Soba Noodles. K. took this very lovely photo of the buckwheat noodles before I cooked them, so I though I'd share the photo with you..

Just a food photo: Beetroot and blue cheese salad
Roasted sliced beetroot, crumbled Finnish Aura blue cheese, (a drizzle of good olive oil, perhaps) and some thyme. Mmmmm...

Just a food photo: Lacy Coconut Crepes with Rum-macerated Grapes
We always have pancakes or crepes on weekend mornings. This Saturday morning we realised we were out of milk. Luckily K. found some coconut milk in the fridge, and made us these beautiful lacy coconut pancakes that we enjoyed with grapes that had been macerated in some dark rum..
Not giving a recipe (just drizzle your usual pancake/crepe batter on the pan), but I really liked the photo :)

Another way of serving haggis, neeps & tatties
That's exactly how I saw haggis, neeps & tatties served at Peckhams on Nicholson Street in Edinburgh earlier this month (see photo here). I dined there with my friend Melinda on my first night in town, and I simply had to try this at home. Not bad, not bad at all :)
My sauce is a bit different, however - although unconventional, I want my haggis with a caramelised onion gravy.
MacSween of Edinburgh haggis is one food-related thing I miss from Scotland every now and then...

May 2007 DMBLGIT award for originality!
Hurray! Just to let you know that this photo of beetroot pickled Easter eggs (eggs & styling by me, shooting by K) won an award for Originality at the May 2007 Does My Blog Look Good In This contest. Thank you, Scott, Trig and other judges, for this great category award. It's an honour to be included in the same post with these other foodblogger/photographers! Make sure to go and check out all the other wonderful winners!
And greetings to all of you from bonnie Scotland! After enduring the cold & wet weather in Edinburgh for a few days, we arrived today to a sunny & warm isle of Arran where a friend of mine is getting married tomorrow night. Normal blogging will resume in a few days...
