KK Center Hk Review: Bronze 2mm Studs

I know I shared these photos for Collab-Fest but I didn't mention the gorgeous little rose gold studs I used to jazz up Electric Dream

The 2mm size is perfect for my nails because there isn't much room for nail art to begin with! I just pressed the studs in to tacky lacquer and top coated with Seche Vite.

These will set you back US$4.50 for 100 pieces at KKCenterHk and you can use my 10% off coupon NPA10 too.

Saturday Spam: The Polish Well

Exams are done - just have to wait for the results now....

The Polish Well makes some beautiful lacquers from time to time. I managed to place a pre-order for some of her newer shades recently and they did not disappoint!
I only wish I'd bought full sized bottles instead of the minis!!!

The Polish Well Bad Boy

Bad Boy is a muted slate/navy blue with multi-coloured micro-flake shimmer. Two coats.

The Polish Well Coraline

Coraline is a Halloween creation of teal blue jelly with green-blue micro-glitters and flakes. Two coats.

The Polish Well Evil Witch

Evil Witch is another Halloween colour, a forest green jelly with square and hex green glitter and coppery gold micro-glitter. Two coats.

 The Polish Well Love Dust

Love Dust is a real beauty, but man is this coral-pink a BITCH to photograph?! It is more pink than the photo suggests with gold micro-flakes and super fine pink/purple shimmer. This one is more sheer so it requires three coats.

The Polish Well Monster

Monster is a close dupe for Butter London Two Fingered Salute. The oxidised copper green creme contains pale green shimmer and copper glitter flakes. Two coats.

The Polish Well Tonight

Tonight is a warm grape jelly chock full with multi-coloured iridescent flakes. Two coats.

The Polish Well Wrath

Wrath is from the Seven Deadly Sins Collection; a red jelly, red and gold glitter. Three coats.

Hope everyone celebrating Thanksgiving & Hanukkah are enjoying their holidays and to everyone else: Happy Weekend!

ELECTRIC DREAM : a piCture pOlish Collaboration Shade with Nail Polish Anon

Shapes that shift
Shine so bright!

dream

Following Picture Polish Blog Fest 2012, the ladies at PP approached me to collaborate on a polish shade. I was so thrilled to be chosen and I hope you love the lacquer the team and I cooked up!

I immediately knew I wanted my polish to be coral. It is quite possibly my favourite colour. It always makes my skin look tan and it compliments my warm-olive skin tone. My inspiration for the shade was the coral I've seen while snorkeling in Fiji. My parents took us to Fiji quite a few times growing up; Nadi is only a few hours by plane and the locals are lovely and very tourist friendly so heaps of Kiwis and Aussies holiday there. We usually stayed on islands in the Mamanuca or Yasawa groups. Apart from the water sports, my siblings and I loved the snorkeling. The angel fish and the pretty pink, purple and orange corals never ceased to amaze me.
These are Namena Soft Corals:

PP already have a shade named Coral Reef,so I struggled for a while before settling on the name Dream Weaver for my collaboration shade.
However, when the prototype arrived it was so much brighter than I what I had had in mind, it was almost a glowing neon and the song Electric Dream jumped in to my head and refused to leave.

Here's its namesake Electric Dream by Shapeshifter; the sound of Summer 2006/2007 (the end of my first year of uni!)

Now on to the swatches!

piCture pOlish Electric Dream

Electric Dream is a creamy near neon coral pink loaded with gold shimmer and scattered with the silver holographic shards PP is famous for. EC is a serious chameleon. Sometimes a warm medium pink, then a shimmering coral, or an orange glowing with gold shimmer. Which means it is a disaster to photograph, always looking too orange - but the bottle shots are very true to colour, something about it being on my nails made the camera freak.

The formula is really buttery and two thin coats is all you need for complete coverage. My favourite aspect of Electric Dream is the three dimensional effect the holo shards give. If I look at it on my nails at a certain angle, the shards sort of rise up off the nail like a magic eye picture! Very trippy :)

Electric Dream is available now from Picture Polish On-line and their Network partners.

ILNP Holographic Part I - spring cremes

Ahhh, I was suppossed to go to the Beauty Expo in Auckland over the weekend, but I was so exhausted from exams and pretty broke, so I stayed home and slept instead. Totally LAME but hey, I have a LOT of polish already, right?
I'm mega jealous of the hauling my facebook friends did though! All these hard to find in NZ or mega expensive here in NZ brands were there at great prices, Waaah!

Luckily I had a GENEROUS nail mail week with Candy Lacquer, Digital Nails and blog sale polishes arriving so I have plenty of pretties to tide me over :)

And now for some totally lovable holo cremes from I <3 Nail Polish. These are my first ILNP lacquers and it was a top notch experience. They shipped fast and came in great packaging and quality bottles etc, so I recommend them 100%

 ILNP A Touch of Mint

A Touch of Mint is a pale pastel mint creme with a very weak linear holo effect in direct light. Indoors or in the shade you see fine silvery scattered shimmer. 2-3 coats for full even coverage.

ILNP Concrete Sprinkles

Concrete Sprinkles is a concrete grey creme with a weak linear holo effect under direct light. It's got a soft scattered sparkle in natural or shaded lighting. Two coats for even, full coverage.

ILNP Chloe

Chloe is a creamy lavender weak linear holo. In natural or shaded lighting it has a subtle scattered holo shimmer. Two coats for full coverage.

ILNP Grande Sunset

Grande Sunset is a creamy coral weak linear holo. In natural or shaded lighting it has a soft scattered holo sparkle. Two coats for full coverage.

All of these are beautiful shades, but the holo effect is WEAK. I don't mind because I love the slight shimmer you get with weak scattered holo particles, but it might disappoint some. These were all from the first wave of holos ILNP put out and I think they are still being restocked.

If you are a creme lover these are a great way to jazz up your nails without they overpowering rainbow effect most holos have.

ILNP is available HERE for US$10/bottle. Lovely rubber coated bush handles for easy grip too!
I have all the darker shades to show you tomorrow too.
